Has anyone else discovered that they're not OCD, ADD or ADHD-inclined enough to really get into fidget spinners? I had such high hopes too..

I was pretty sure that I held back enough personal issues that it would be beneficial to me but there it lies.....beside my computer..............spinless.
I love my Reo's. I love my LBC's. Both are great at what they do. I dont think the LBC can be properly labeled as a Sunbox clone as first of all, about the only similarity between the two is one edge is chamfered, but also the LBC is American made and the tolerances are tighter than my Reo and materials used far surpass whats done on the Sunbox. If you were to compare them as I have, it takes about .5 seconds to realize they are completely different. Dont forget, Tom started out helping people BF their rda's that were typically sitting on top of Reo's back in the day as that was one of the few options a bf'er had unless they wanted to risk ruining an rda trying to do it themselves. I dont fault a man who rises to the call of those around him to make something not available anywhere else. Rob did it, so did Tom. To each their own, but I definitely enjoy the devices created by both guys and in my experience, both guys are awesome to talk to.
So I broke the REO mini out of its tomb this morning, and discovered... (I can only imagine alcohol was involved) that I packed it in a box while it still had juice.. Ugg.. anyone have any ideas on how I can clean this thing up. It has old dried up juice all down under the atty, under the power button.. Ugh. I need my ... kicked.. Anywho, ideas are welcome. Thanks

Alcohol was used to make it that way, use alcohol to undo it. 91% rubbing is best, just break it down as far as you can get it and soak everything in alcohol (unless your mini is a woodvil) and after rubbing away all the sludge, rinse everything down a couple times in fresh water. Good as new. BTW, toothpicks work great at picking corners and crevasses while in alcohol.

If alcohol was the instigator, it should be the cure--don't you think? I'd tear it down and soak the pieces in alcohol. Use a hard plastic seal-able container and let them soak. Either isopropyl alcohol or something akin to Everclear should work. If you use isopropyl alcohol, be sure to rinse well afterwards.
I love all my mods as they each perform differently. I have my Reos, my Woodville, but also have other mech and regulated squonkers. Most get used frequently, according to how I feel any particular time. I'm with you, TT, on the LBC. I don't think anyone would ever find a better crafted regulated squonker anywhere, or any regulated mod, for that matter. And I wouldn't own a Sunbox. They really don't do anything for me.

I'm currently trying out a couple of spinners. My intent was to try and cut down on some vaping by using them when I'd normally idle-vape (the so-called pacification act). Typically, this is while sitting at the computer or watching a movie.
Here's what I found:
* Quality really matters (surprise, surprise). Cheap spinners are too bulky and noisy. People throw stupid money into them, which is not warranted, but something better than the $4.99 special is worth it.
* Try to learn tricks like moving it from finger to finger while spinning - it's muuuch more engaging than just watching it spin. Plenty of YT vids on these.
* Try to be stealthy. Doing it in plain view of people will get a ton of 'tude thrown your way - more than smoking, definitely more than vaping.
Now, would I recommend them? Well, maybe if your thing (like mine) is... fidgeting. I find it occupies me in times I can't or don't want to vape, which I'd normally do as a reflex.
I got one for my autistic niece, too - she loves the thing.

I find all the squonkers made by folks on ECF are really good. I don't have anything by pdib, but my LBC (and junior), BAM ultem, CC, and Rosco Avion have been well worth the small wait and the price is quite fair considering the effort put in.
Basically, I don't see it as being different from Rob's story - remember REO's were not always as readily available as now and woodvil runs prior to the last one were outright F5 wars. REO's in the day were also known as a bit expensive. Life evolves.
Sunboxes, SVA's, Lukkos's, A&M's, and these bizarrely rare/pricey 3D printed mods are another story, IMHO. No soul to the communities around them - at least not like the above mods where the modders are active and central. Maybe I'm just not cool enough to get "in", but even though I own a fair few examples of them, I don't regard them in the same light. They're also more about aesthetics than function and any good bauhaus student will tell you - that's backwards.
I much prefer supporting the wonderful craftsmanship and quality of the mods being produced right here by our own folks. I have an LBC, pdib Pinch, a couple CCs a Tmod and can't be any more thrilled. I know Rob put his heart and soul into his mods and cherish mine. I wish I could afford more, but I think my mod buying days are over, unless I win the lottery [emoji1] .

I sold everything but my REOs and my Wayne Woodvil, but I do have a Turbo Ultem mod that was just shipped and I'm quite excited about it.
That's one I couldn't afford. Love the looks of his work though.

It's quality, through and through. Interestingly enough, he's another who prolly owes his modding start to the REO.
As for price, when you figure cost of goods and his time, it ain't a get rich quick scheme for sure.
Somebody mentioned 'soul less' earlier. That's the way I look at the multitude of 3D mods that are out there.
I have a couple Pdib Li'l Pinches, in addition to my REOs. You can just feel the love and craftsmanship that goes into them, as well as REOs.

Instead of spinners i have always used a Rubik's cube (yes i have a collection of those too) to aid my fidgeting.

I had a 'cube phase, too. First one I ever saw was owned by a Czech student at university (he was a math prodigy) - about 3 years before they broke big here. I was fascinated.
The trouble, at least for me, is that they occupy both hands. I can surf the web or walk down the street with a chai in hand with a spinner.
I'm also trying out a fidget cube. Clever little things with a different switch, button, or roller on each face. They were a Kickstarter project that took off (and, of course, subsequently cloned). This might very well be better than the spinner.
Just a quick comment about the new REO team. I wanted a new P67 with a blue SL door but it wasn't in stock. So I grabbed one with a green door then checked if I could buy a blue SL door separately but none were in stock.
I sent an email asking if they could make a blue door available and I got a reply minutes later saying they blue door is now available.

That's great to hear, now I'm wondering about how quick the turn around for repairs might take, and if repair costs will stay the same. I believe it will be business as usual. I imagine Rob has tried to school the new owners on how he does things in all aspects of the business.

I hope the pricing and quality will remain the same. I still have one Reo to send in for the 510 upgrade.
