Sold. I'll be there in October. Really.

There or Alberta. If Alberta, I'd actually drive; I could make it in 3 days (I'm good at pulling long days driving, however, I'd settle for 4 if the going got tough; Google says it's about 38 hours to Banff and 43 to Jasper). I'd take a bike and snowshoes/microspikes for some mild hiking, as it'd be middle or late October. Would be nice to have my own stuff. However, Vancouver's too far to drive with only 2 weeks off, so I'd fly, and rent a car, and a bike.

Seems like maybe the Vancouver area, though, would be a better bet for mountain biking/hiking in late October. Curious as to your thoughts on that. I s'pose I could also take a rental car to Alberta for a few nights, too.

I think Sloth's time to head west hath finally arrived. The Nanaimo bars are the last straw.

Because you live in the Overlook Hotel from the Shining already, I'd suggest BC over Alberta. Banff and Jasper are magnificent, but much more similar to your home turf than the coast is. You really should see the ocean and the mountains here.

The only drawback (and this wouldn't affect you) is that this costs $2.5 million dollars to buy...

thanks hun, thought it was but wanted to make sure. Jup, watchin Jamie Oliver on food network inducted me into some brit speak. First time I watched and he told me to cook a roast at 180 degrees for 2 hrs, I thought he was tryin to poison us  Finally figgered it out.

Yeah, metric and all that. We're schizophrenic about that. Km, grams, degrees celcius - check. Yet we still describe small distances in inches, list our body weight in pounds (at least it's no longer in stones), and drink pints of beer.

wow.........is the water really blue like that??? and omgggggggggg you might pay 30K for that here, unless they were tearin it down to build sumpthin else.... then you'd pay a grand or less and tote it off to do a complete remodel.

Would be nice to see the pacific ocean, you are right.
woopsy......first off, I admit, I'm a complete idiot when it comes to Geography But yur on the Atlantic side in NY. I know this for sure  So is BC all the way on the other side? I do know Canada goes all the way across

and having finally seen both, the atlantic is wayyyyyyyy better than the pacific. At least the parts I saw

Vancouver is on the west coast above Seattle. I have never been out west at all, all I know is the atlantic. Of the Atlantic coast, Nova Scotia is the most glorious part I have seen, followed by Maine. I like rocky coastlines.

ok........got sidetracked by nanaimo bars........

a super sweet reonaut who requested to not make a big deal over it...... recently pm'd me for my addy, cuz she wanted to send me some wire. (she included a few other surprise goodies) She also said she wanted to send me a bottle she found at FT that is so super soft and squonky that you just look at it and think squonk......it does it! Well, she wuzn't kiddin! Before I forget, here's the link
$4.02 Free Shipping YFTK Replacement Dropper Bottle for SVA 75W Style BF Squonk Box Mod (Silicone + SS) at m.FastTech.com

Not only are these much softer than the fib's, you seriously need to readjust squonking to the lightest touch ever. but also, I am certain they are bigger, need to see what they hold. but a metal cap screws onto metal threads......and the whole top of the bottle is thicker silicone (or whatever) so it acts like a gasket! The tube is also a lot softer, so easier to pinch for the bottle squeeze. No real need for that though, cuz you know if it's not screwed on right, and if it is.....not air escapes, so no leakage. They're a lil higher than I would expect from FT, but cheaper than fib's, and I think a far superior bottle!! I highly recommend them!
And, they fit REOs?

I imagine that is gorgeous! Rocky coastlines are beautiful......but make it hard to get IN the water......and if I'm near an ocean.......I gotta git in it or I go nutz (er)

Its warm in Vancouver ;)

Well, the weather is a mixed bag and not for everyone. It's all relative, really.

Not as hot as Texas or most of Australia, no, and it has it's fair share of rain (hint... trees, trees, trees, and big suckers, too), but it's the mildest climate in Canada (which might make it the tallest midget, admittedly). It's 30C (86F) today - still enjoyable weather for biking or hiking and very rare for it to be below 0C (32F) after sunrise in the middle of winter, so it's no Minnesota or Russia, either, in that respect.

On a nice day, though... oooo, dem beaches (sandy, rocky, and cliff) and mountains. On a nasty day with moody, moody skies... oooo, dem Netflix movies.

No. Cal.
@Rayonati Sloth I encourage you to visit the west coast. Much of it has a rocky gorgeous coastline, except for the Southern Cal part (as far as the state's go that is). I've traveled a few times to BC and Vancouver. Our last trip was about a decade ago and we stayed for a bit on Salt Spring Island. (Is that right @Papa_Lazarou?).

Plus we love when you go on your adventures because you're nifty with posting photos
