Hope all my fellow Reonauts are healthy and washing their hands, keeping their distance, etc. Kinda scary times these days, especially for us old farts. School system here shut down until late April, so my wife(school nurse) will be home. I'm recently retired so we should be able to stay out of the path with any luck. I was always cut out to be a recluse anyway.:)
Good luck, my friends.

I'm shutting my resort down. We made the decision yesterday. It's in our area now, and it doesn't make sense to allow folks to keep flocking up here from NYC where there's the most confirmed cases of anywhere in the US right now. This is surreal, we've never closed for any period of time before. Open 365 days each year. Today I made a bunch of calls cancelling reservations through 4/19, but we're planning to extend probably until June. We'll re-assess and likely extend somewhere around the turn of April.

Chrissy is EMS and a fire chief. I'm worried about her - the state is gearing up all of its emergency resources and she will no doubt be super busy. I've never respected her more, but can't help but be concerned.

Crazy times, indeed. Stay safe, everyone, and keep those REOs in hand :thumb:

For me the virus is real..how deadly is it.. that's hard to tell as it's hard to get a real idea with inaccurate numbers being reported everywhere.. but the fear is out of control. Media is pumping up the fear for a purpose to close down the country and destroy it.

Slow rolling the testing to pump up that death percentage to make this look way devastating then it is.

The hysteria is the threat.. that's the real threat to the mass public.

Those that have bad health and over 60 and those that care for them should take precautions. Yes everyone should take the usual precautions obviously.. it's the flu season. But to close down the country and bring in the next depression is the wrong move.

Car accidents affect more a year then a virus.. 33k+ deaths a year, 2-3+ million injuries. So I guess we should stop driving! The flu kills even more a year.. never closed down anything over that.. no media hysteria. No panic. Past viruses over the years no one flinched over it.. no politicians said a peep.

Most wont even known they have it or it will be a weak or mild fever.

Pretty much sounds like we all will get it eventually just like the flu or may have already had it and not even of known it.

I'm waiting on the full closure of the country.. city's closed. Cops and military busy with road boarders and massive lawlessness to breakout, desperate out of work people looting businesses and homes. That's our future!

I could go on but that's my toned down assestment.

My kids are out of school for a month my wifes work hours cut back. No doubt in another week or so prob close . I'm betting the kids are done with school for the year! Baseball season.. were all signed up but no doubt that wont happen.. dance classes and future summer church festival done most likely.

Soon amazon will be delivering our food with a drone! Hehe

Wanted to say hello to all.

Tim, I feel ya on the resort issue. I worked in Hotels for years, and managed a Best Western during a snow storm. Called employees to have them to stay home so I could work double shifts. But that's nothing compared to no business at all - because of this coronavirus thing. It's crazy. We've never experienced anything like this at all; but however, I agree with most about the Media hyping it all up. Things are still pretty much functioning around here in East Tennessee, but the toilet paper epidemic is like everywhere else - in which people running for it. Haven't had any looting going on around here - yet. If this goes on many months like they say, I'm sure that will be on the rise, and in the news. Glad I have a license, and tools to protect myself and home with. :thumb: I hope things get back to normal, and things calm down. Hope all of you are safe and this thing storms by.

...at least I have my Reo Grand; plenty of juice; a new Xtar Vp4, and new Sony batteries.

I hear you! A tough yet wise decision. Our country got started kind of late in the game. Looking forward to seeing the bell curve begin to level out here...might take months. Our leadership in our state and county are doing a hell of a job with transparency. If only we could get more tests (actually we have tests just no swabs...arghhhh).

Anyway, our state is on “shelter in place.” Tis really really odd (ghost town experience) but smart. Luckily our little store is able to remain open as we are in the “convenience category.” We are taking a ton of precautions to protect us and others. Luckily we still get to pay our staff and pass on our $ to local little eateries who are providing take-out food only.

Our particular area is pretty resilient as we have gone thru floods, fires and evacuations. We know how to help each other. So many volunteer opportunities (people making masks in their homes for our local hospitals; young folks chopping wood for seniors; food delivery for seniors, etc.).

What i miss the most are hugs...... Cyber hugs for all!!

Cyber hugs for all!!
And cyber hugs back to all of you (my arms aren't 6000miles long).
Here in France we have been in lock-down since Monday, only essential shops/fuel stations/pharmacies are allowed to open and everybody is confined to home. If we must leave house to shop/medical appt etc or to go work in essential jobs, we have to download a government form, name/address/DOB 5 tick boxes to choose as to why we are outside and signed/dated.
The Gendarmes/Police had by Thursday morning logged 4,095 infractions with a fine of 135Euros each.
Everywhere like a ghost town, only thing lacking is the tumbleweed / blowing wind effects !
But then, I have always been a Clint Eastwood fan.
Keep well, everyone.

Cyber hugs, I love it! Stay smart everyone. The only way to beat this virus is to starve it out by not giving it more people to infect. Some are being smart and doing whats asked, others need a cyber smack upside the head. I am lucky as I am able to work from home as is my wife. Our daughter (elementary) is going on her second week of school-les schooling. We've put together a chore chart for her to make some money during this difficult time to help idle minds stay busy. Also, we have made a point to spend at least an hour outside every day in our yard playing volleyball pepper together. It is tough to not send her out to play with her friends (seriously, there's parents sending their kids out to play with each other still) but drastic times... We've also reduced the flood of news to a little in the morning and a little in the evening. I'm sure there's going to be people who fare well with the virus but take a hit mentally. Please remember to reach out to friends and family. We did a Facetime Happy Hour yesterday with the extended family. Everyone got a drink of choice and just shot the shiz for an hour. Even though we gotta social distance ourselves doesn't mean we are on our own. Stay positive, stay healthy and we will get through this crazy time!

Anybody else thinking a little bit more seriously about trying to kick vaping? Apparently this coronavirus takes a real toll on the victim's lungs. There are some pretty graphic stories out there. Smokers and ....yes, probably vapers are considered to be "compromised" and more subject to the possibility of a worst case scenario. It's got me thinking about it and it's got you thinking about it too, doesn't it? C'mon, tell the truth. If you can't tell me, who can you tell?

Bush, the thought has crossed my mind recently. I don't think I'm ready to stop vaping at the moment, but if I were to get sick , that may just be the perfect time to put down my REO while I heal up and probably take that opportunity not to pick up the habit after I've healed up.

It would be foolish to think that vaping doesn't to some extent compromise the lungs, but yet I've had doctors literally brag about how healthy my lungs are in recent years. So I'm not very concerned, but if I get sick, I'll definitely stop for the duration. And if I stop for a few days/weeks I will probably not start again. Vaping's become a chore for me. I do love it, but if I manage to break the habit, I'll be happy to see it gone for good.

There's a reason I'm called Sloth. Even rewicking every 2-4 weeks is annoying to a sloth.

I know that many of you have to find 18490 or 14500 batteries. I wanted to give a shout out to Illumination Supply (illumn.com). I ordered 4 IMR 18500 Efest batteries for my Mini 2.1. One came in DOA. I contacted customer service and they replied within hours with an offer to ship out a replacement immediately. :)

Just wanted to shout out solidarity and support for all REOnauts as we deal with this COVID bother.

For everyone sheltering in place, not being able to work and/or shuttering your business. For every first responder and medical care giver in harms way. We will get through this. Not just in an "we're okay" sense, but with the real opportunity to be stronger as a result. Better communities. Better respect for the rich lives we enjoy. Better people.
