I ordered the Shockwave and paid for it in full on the 6th of April - That's as near as dam it a full 10weeks.

The wait time was suppose to be 6weeks.

Surely we should at least have a prototype to view?

Dear Dellboy , you are very patient i must say ,
10 weeks is a looong time imho , i do hope they figure out whats going on and atleast update the buyers who have paid, booked and put their trust in a company like super -t .
i hope you get your mod soon
wishing you well
warm regards
Sahil

I procrastinated until 4/12 to order mine.
This will probably sound like total fanboyism but I'm not worried one iota about the time. In fact I think it's gone by fast! I know I'm not going to be gypped and in a way it's very comforting that it was bought and paid for awhile back. By now it's almost like getting a free ShockWave, for if I had not paid for it the money would surely have been spent on something else.

Well Im no fanboy as I have never bought a Super T product but I do like the thought of a manufacturer who is OCD and perfects his product getting the kinks out before he sells them (well most of them there always the unforseen). As there are far too many vaping products rushed out to market with no QC and can leave you with literally a bad taste in your mouth! Myself not one to jump on a band wagon and do preorders I like to see the finished product and see how it performs in the real world testing before I buy but from what I see he is working hard to perfect this device and koodos to him!!

Whew, finally got caught up on this thread, and sounds amazing and just a few questions I didn't see or I was too cross-eyed to see :)

Is the switch electronic or mechanical, I'm a little confused, is it soldered in there or is it just a switch that is making contact mechanically and can be popped out? I know it says user-replaceable, not sure where I could buy one, and I tried to look at the schematics but couldn't really get the pic big enough.

I know the schematics show it disassembled but is it able to be taken apart and serviced\cleaned by the user like the Precise +'s?

Is the pre-order still going on and are they still being engraved or signed and numbered?

I was holding out for either a P+ 18500 or 18650 but darnit it this has got my attention cause it's so different but man after I put it in my cart, with 3 batteries each for 26500 and 26650's and a new charger, darnit it PILA for not being able to charge these, it's a good chunk of change (not saying it's not worth it as I feel it is) but I really wanted an all mechanical mod and the rhodium plating on the switch contacts, hence the reason I was originally leaning towards the P+'s as well as I have a kick too but I guess the Precise Strata could fit that bill as I planned on getting that one too LOL but I know that's a ways out.

However now after reading it seems the kick is a very tight, almost too tight fit on the 18650 and 18500 P+'s so hoping to get those above questions answered as that's pretty much all I can think of that hasn't been mentioned and of course can't wait to see the prototype pics...

Thanks as always for any and all help.

I had a little spare time this morning so I spent it doing a little research about the history of the ShockWave and assorted other issues. David, you sure have taken a lot of flak for being so good. In a way I can relate, I'm very good at my profession and what I produce is pretty much impossible for anyone else to replicate. I get resented...don't really understand why.
Anyway I understand a little better now why the SW took so long to go into production. In fact I think we're pretty lucky it went into production at all. I know now that it will be a monument.

Placed my order this morning. Whenever it gets here, it gets here. It'll be like an early Christmas present to myself. Ordered shiny with no slots...sorry but all I could think was how much dirt/debris could get in there and injure something even though it's mechanical. I prefer the "solid" look anyways.

This was my motivation to go with no slots as well. I really like the look of the slots, but I will use this mod when I am away from charging sources for longer periods of time, and that usually entails outdoor activities where my mod is exposed to dirt/dust/moisture and such. Less cleaning = more vaping!!

Hi Ed,

The switch is what is commonly referred to as a "snap" action switch. The whole switch assembly slides out, so you can replace the switch yourself should it fail. I will have spare switches too they are only a few dollars. There is still a pre-order and they will be engraved with a serial number (hand engraved by me on the interior so its not visible). I would get one of these as well as a PrecisePlus. The Shockwave is the most in depth mod i've made (from a machining standpoint) and after my conversation with the machine shop (see following post) it will most likely be a limited run of them.

Update as of 06/14/12:

First, i sincerely apologize for the wrong time frames for production. As previously stated, no one is obligated to keep their order in and can cancel and receive a full refund at anytime they wish, no hard feelings, i completely understand.

Second, the Non slotted prototype was completed this week while i was gone and i will be picking it up early this coming week. I will post up pics as soon as i can get them done.

Third, and the "bad" news. I think this will be the one and only Shockwave production run. The machine shop advised me that they do not want to machine them due to the complex machining operations and the length of the machining operations to bore out the body. The body was causing the most productions obstacles as its not a simple bore out job. In addition to being flat on the bottom of the battery chamber, it also has a machined in ledge about 1/4 of the way from the bottom and this ledge is ALSO threaded.

So sadly, the Shockwave run will most likely be limited to only 400 units but on the bright side it will be a rare limited edition model. I originally designed it to be outrageous and threw caution to the wind when designing it and it looks like it's biting me in the .... a bit :)

That makes me sad...On the one hand I'm glad I got my order in but on the other hand I might have wanted a non-slotted version in satin also once I got a look at the proto. Hopefully you've not reached your 400 unit limit but if so, it's too bad. Best of luck with getting the bodies made and I hope the news gets better somehow. I'm glad for some news anyway and I'm glad you took some risks and thought outside the box a little on this, despite the headaches it is causing your machinist(s). I am so looking forward to this mod, and have 6 IMR's, 3 in each size, ready to go. Thanks for the update, keep them coming.

When replying to ED-209 David mentioned the ShockWave still being available for order. Like you, a satin non-slotted has been calling my name but I'd like to see a picture. Looks like we'll get to see it soon.
