So... I'm anticipating any day now, and have started to include sandwiches in my postie stalking kit... :D

I wish I could be like some people and not worry about and anticipate when things come, and therefore be pleasantly surprised by the goodies that show up. But I am SO not that person.

I think you're right, it should show up any day now. I would have thought USPS or RM would have more detailed tracking, USPS definitely has lately and you can sign up for emails that now update you every step of the way. It should, for instance, at least show the day it was handed over to RM. I wonder if customs takes the bulk of the time in the UK?

Yeah, if Customs do snag it, there is likely to be yet another extended delay... But, it will soon be Christmas... ;)

The USP tracking has been fairly detailed... I wish I knew why the RM tracking says it can't track until delivered - that just seems kinda pointless - tracking won't be required once the item has been delivered, lolol... (well, at least not by the recipient)

Man, am I excited, or what...???!!!??? The ShockWave has indeed landed this morning - it did get snagged by customs, but parcel value was marked favourably (thank you David) so the fees weren't too excessive at: £17.84 (about $25 to $30 roughly)...

But anyway, what can I say that hasn't already been said...? The ShockWave is absolutely fantastic...!!! I love that desktop stability from the extra girth of the thing, and the switch is an absolute dream, it really is...!!! I never could get along with the Precise buttons but have always had tremendous admiration for the sheer quality of David's work, so when the ShockWave was announced, I was always going to have to have one and this thing is like a dream come true for me...

To David: I really do have to say thank you for creating the ShockWave and for letting me become one of that select group of owners... You have made a genuine classic here and I couldn't possibly be any happier to have one myself... :)

Hey

I have a real big problem with my shockwave.
the push button is stuck on my shockwave yesterday I dont know why maybe some dirt. I did not notice that . it has he fired so long until the battery was empty .the head was extremely hot, so I got my fingers burned properly. it also smelled burnt as if a cable is braised.
the plastic in the shockwave has shrunk I think 100/mm only a little bit . it is now no longer tight in the sleeve.
sometimes the pushbutton now works not correct. I am afraid to dissamble it.
maybe David has a tip for me...shipping to USA is to expensive.
David if you read this ....do you have an solution?

cheers all

I doubt you hurt anything on the Shockwave, its pretty robust. Put one drop of oil in around the button, let it flow in around the button, work it in by pressing and turning the button, wipe away any excess. The plastic insert that holds the switch is supposed to be removable, slide it out just a tiny bit, put a drop or two of most any type of glue on the side of it and slide it back in. (be careful not to pull it out very far, its tricky to get back in).

Video of how to oil the button is here (towards the end of the video):

If you decide you need to get in there and see what's up, the delrin removal isn't as daunting as David might say (I'm sure he would like anyone to be cautious and attentive for good reason). My video might help.

Remaining Shockwaves have shipped! (#111-#117).

And with that we close a chapter. A chapter i've learned some valuable lessons from! The Shockwave: A Lesson in Excess.

Thank you everyone for your patience this past year in letting me bring this vision of mine into the light!

shucks! I just got into the world of vaping, and saw some pics of other people's mods and saw this. wish I wasnt so late to scoop up on this. any chance you are going to go large again?

I'd be prepared to sell mine on the same day that my warranty expires. Seriously

No, vaptamist, it's not worth even $500, remember?

Microeconomics, it's not just for undergrads anymore.

I collect vintage razors. You would not believe what some of them are worth. Then you get straight razors, even more insane. Just because YOU wouldn't pay a certain price doesn't mean someone else won't.

Price is where demand and supply meet. If there's a buyer at that price for every available item, then that's what it is worth.

Edit: By "you" I didn't mean vaptamist. I see now that's where the confusion came from.

I'm not quite sure I understand what you're getting at. My point is that if someone sells their Shockwave on ECF for $500-$600, they should expect to see their old Shockwave for sale on an auction site for even more. If someone is willing to sell for over RRP at $500 or $600, why not skip the middle man and go straight to the auction site themselves.

It's nothing to do with that, I'm just dredging up past statements that the Shockwave isn't worth $500+. I agree with what you said in your last post about facebook, I just can't seem to express myself in a way so everybody can understand. Verbosity... But I'm not on Faceborg, so I don't know what's going on auction wise. Now if this stuff were allowed on eBay, I'd be all over that and then we could see what the real value is but if you say Facebook is a good indicator, I'll believe that. Please don't think I was any way slagging on YOU of all people! :toast:

I should have left well enough alone.
