I like the design, too. easy, reliable, robust - and ready-made coils are available - I can't do these better by myself and don't like diying for things which I can buy instead - got two left hands combined with five thick thumbs each :homy: I love my SnP tanks since I got the Sophias - I know exactly about it's amount of juice without being unsure and needing a spare device - and the Sophia vape/taste/flash is just great.

just wanted to say

Glad it worked. :). Always keep in mind that even though the Sophia may have the exact same setup, the tank may be the exact same, there is always a variable. And once you rule out the equipment, look at the juice. I have juices that need to be even 6 full turns. Others? Only 1/2-1. And I vape vg heavy across the board so go figure. You always have a sweet spot. Just gotta find it. :)

you're right, I think - can't explain where the differences are - also using practically the same liquids (at least for testing it)...

but found one thing: the silica is a bit damaged in the one which has these issues - I guess, when screwing the tube onto the Sophia, the silica wick was a bit damaged and few of the wick strands got broken - as I said...

Try trimming your wick about 1mm away from the ceramic cup... Nothing down the channels. ;) Works great for me. :vapor:

This is what techno is referring to. This is how many of us trim our wicks. Mine is cotton in the pics but the point is the same. Bottom two pics.

thanks, never thought of this - seems to be a good idea - using the ready-made LR coils by Leo, but will try... (use these in my dripper on my Reo, too - also very nice heavy tasty vape)

I was using the pre-mades at first... I quickly found that trimming them close to the cup was the way to go for a great vape ... :)

maybe there are helping heads with ideas for my Sophia (in Salt'n'Pepper Tank)

I use two of these - one with 22mm Salt'n'Pepper and long body Sophia - works fine, never ever got a problem.

The second one is a 23mm Salt'n'Pepper and standard Sophia (I use only readymade LR coils by Leo, not wanting to do these by myself). This is giving me problems: the Sophia is open one turn and works perfect - suddenly (after few inhales) it gets weak vape, starts to gurgle (and sometimes I get the juice in my mouth when pulling), so I close the Sophia, but it's too late after 2 inhales when gurgling. I screw the SnP and Sophia off, and the Bottom is wet all over (did heavy wetting all over in my pocket once). I clean everything dry - and it's working again. What the ....... is happening here? any ideas? I changed the O-rings in the tank already, worked for a short time by luck, I guess...

When it works, there is not the slightest problem getting liquid to the coil, and the cape is very very good. I also got the feeling, that the other Sophia (the working one) does a little bit of the same when getting low of juice (2mm in the tank), but it's easy to handle (close liquid flow, do few inhales, fine again).

The juices is the same in all my configurations (50/50 PG/VG, readymade), have changed coil...

But I'm not sure on one thing - is the problem to be found in the Sophia, or maybe the tank - any ideas?

For what it's worth, I've also been fighting these types of issues with my new SnP tank. In fact I've found that all of my tanks 15mm (slim and ibtanked), 19mm (ibtanked), and 22/23mm (GP SnP) all work differently with the same Sophia and the same 50/50 liquid.

I also trim my wicks short and that helps for a different issue but I'm finding that the tank and flooding is a separate issue related to airflow.

It seems that balancing the flow control and airflow is critical and that airflow is the fiddliest thing to get right between tanks.

Now that I have a flat top cap along with a flush fit with my evic and snp tank the airflow has been reduced and the draw is a little tighter (but pleasant). I still sometimes flood because of it and I've found there are two solutions... get more airflow (either by adjusting the 510 air holes with the positive pin to wide open or leaving a slight gap between the tank and cap) or adjust my draw.

If I take easy, relaxed draws no flooding...but if I take forceful draws on low airflow, I pull way too much liquid in and don't burn it off fast enough ... hence the flooding.

YMMV though.

curious, but physics is a complicated science :) sometimes I do something - and it doesn't do the same effect as it did yesterday...

thanks for the tipps on the airflow - yes, could be the case somehow...

maybe there should be a vaping university to teach all the necessary skills - but on the other hand - there is this ECF thankfully :vapor:

Just got my Sophia in off a classies buy, and I have some questions for you guys that have had it awhile. I ordered some ready wire from Stormies, a few extra ceramics to start, and some 1mm ekowool (read that it was the proper size for the Sophia because it's measured differently). The guy that sold me the Sophia (and the slim pro tank from Leo) also sent along some "cotton hemp" wick. This I find slightly confusing. Is it cotton, or is it hemp? Both? Can it be dry burned? I'm assuming not. I'm coming from building mostly microcoil and cotton builds in kayfuns and RDA's and have pretty much no experience with these other wicking materials, so any advice on working with these two would be much appreciated.

Approach the build with the cotton you're used to. Skip the cotton hemp blend. Neither this blend, not cotton can be dry burned. Only silica.

Here is my setup using a premade. Photos show dual coil. Single is same approach.

For micro coils, you. Take your 28/30 and a zapper with nichrome. Or twist the joins.

Is there a reason a person would purchase the Sophia from Leo versus HOM? It seems to be a bit cheaper through HOM.

Only because Billie is a nice guy, he tries harder, he's actually here to answer questions - so many of us are loyal to him. But otherwise, no real reason.
