I have watched Todd's, Andrew’s, Romastino's, Technonut’s, and Crano’s reviews on this device along with my own research and I like what I see. And I thank the OP for starting this thread because this device deserves some attention.

Here’s an idea to the maker; do away with the ceramic cup/coil and replace that ceramic cup/coil setup with something like the coil setup in the Piculisci. Both great ideas together would IMO be great and the builder can call it the Glenn54 or GSI or 54 or whatever you want! Easy setup with pins or screws, a well curve platform to hold a little juice. I’d pay $50 in a heartbeat/New York second for this hybrid/variation of the Sophia or the 54 whatever it’ll be called. A Micro coil and Cotton monster! I’ll still probably buy the Sophia anyway because it does look nice.

I'm running 30g micro coils with cotton in my Killer 705 and eBaron Dripper Pro right now and I see no reason why it won't great in the Sofia. I'll know in about 12 days I guess.

I finally took Technonut tips on trimming the wick close to the ceramic cup and it worked very well! Fast wicking and no dry and burnt taste when chain vape. The flavour is richer than before. The only thing i noticed that the inconsistentency on the throat hit. Will keep looking for the tips and tweak for this. Thanks Technonut.

NP.. ;) I was hoping you would give that a try.. :) I've still been enjoying the hell out of Sophia. I have just been filling and vaping for days, with an occasional dry-burn along the way.

How did you make that, what Ohm's, how much cotton??? Pictures?

So lately I've been playing around with these high ohm 30g coils that are pretty small in diameter. This was wrapped on a 1/16 drill bit with I think 11 or 12 wraps (too lazy to count lol) and it ohms out at 2.5. Vaping it at the max 6 volts on the Provari for about 14.5 watts. In my actual build I used a bit longer of a length of cotton but in the picture below that's about how long I leave it for my Killer 705 builds. Long enough to reach the bottom of the cup and then some. Cotton just wicks so well that you don't really need to worry about cramming too much down there. To be fair this would probably be more difficult without a wire welder. Hopefully the pictures illustrate my process well enough. Keep in mind that after I wrapped it it torched it red hot and dunked it in cold water about 5 times keeping it tight in some needle nose pliers.

Thank you very much, great job nice and tight wrap. I use 30g also 8 or 10 wraps (can't remember) I get around 1.7 on my kayfun lite. I don't have a wire welder I guess I can do it by twisting r/nr I'll have to get some nr.

Thanks.

When my Sofia gets here I'll probably just pull this ceramic out of my eBDP, take the cotton out , torch everything else and drop it right in to the Sofia.

I still consider myself to be a noob. I have only been using (and enjoying) IBTanked tanks with cartomizers on my ProVari. After reading up on and watching videos on both the Diver and the Sophia, I am seriously considering giving the Sophia a try.

First, a huge thanks to technonut, for starting this thread and all of the great information here!

Second, my confession. I don't think I am ready to start building my own coils YET. One of the reasons that I was drawn to the Sophia is that ready-made coils are available, so that I can take the baby steps I need before taking the leap into building my own.

Has anyone used these ready-made coils from By Leo or these from eliquidbar?

We all started new at vaping.. :) You have a great APV early in the game also. The pre-made coils aren't bad at all. I would suggest the ones in 2.2 ohms for your ProVari though.

I'm not certain how handy you are, but once you see the ceramic cups and how the wick / wire is put together, they are not hard at all to rebuild. ;) (especially using ready-wires for the coil) On the pre-made coils, just make sure to trim the wick like shown in some of the reviews when changing out the one which is pre-installed.

Thanks! I figured that the ready-made were a nice way to ease into things, and still be able to get the experience of using an atomizer in my tank.

I've watched a few videos specific to the Sophia and rebuilding the coils. It really doesn't look all that challenging or complicated. Thanks to this thread and your advice, I already have the Kanthal Ready Wires from Stormy's on my shopping list.

I have not seen a thread started for Sophia in this forum yet, and think she needs a home here. :) I do have a thread going in the ProVari sub-forum since there are plans for a tank with a ProVari-specific base, and many there use carto tanks as toppers. That thread is here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...atomizer-leo-provari-tank-will-available.html

I'm more of an RBA guy over cartomizers. I do like some of the 23mm carto tanks since I primarily use a ProVari, and that diameter is perfect for the Atmistique Hippo V2 AFC I use, along with other top cap rings which give the ProVari a nice, flush look with tanks. ;) Sophia will work with most carto tanks.. It's just a matter of using the proper O-rings for the job.

I'll just copy and paste some of my other thread over here to get started. I think Sophia is going to be quite popular.. She's a sweet gal! Here is my initial post from Oct. 13th after playing with Sophia:

Sophia came into my life yesterday, and I REALLY like her. :) She is slim, sleek, well-built, and intelligent. (in design) These are all important qualities to me in my quest for the "perfect" ProVari (Or any APV for that matter) juice-delivery device. Combined with the GP SnP tank / Atmistique Hippo V2, it appears I am almost there. :vapor:

I tried the Diver before. While it started out to be a good device, it lacked the ability to control juice intake, was finicky to set up, particular on the amount of juice in the tank to function properly, and eventually developed gurgling and leaking through the pin, no matter how carefully built. (In my experience)

Sophia on the other hand, has been a joy to work with, and functions as designed. I've been through 4 tanks, (EDIT: many more since with no issues) and rebuilt 3 different ceramics to try. (EDIT: Again, more since) All worked well. I can fill the GP SnP tank to the top, and vape all the way down with no gurgling at all. I was greeted this morning by a dry pin, and no leaking. :) I ran a tank of heavy VG through her, and the juice control worked quite well to feed with no dry-hits. I've been attempting to optimize battery life with my ProVari's, and found that Sophia's domed chamber inside the tube allows me to run a 2.5 ohm coil at only 3.5v, and still produces a saturated, satisfying vape experience.

I also purchased the GP ProVari base for the SnP tank. It's seamless appearance looks nice, but lacks air control. This is dependent on how far the base is adjusted down over the ProVari's top cap. A small gap must be left. It works, and I will use it from time to time, but the Hippo V2 allows precise air flow control, which is important for Sophia IMO. There is also a nice, flush, fit between it, and the SnP. BTW, the SnP's fill-system is also a JOY to use compared to the many other carto tanks I've owned. A simple twist, fill to the top, and close. The 2nd hole allows air to escape while filling, so no worries of flooding there. Pretty much hassle-free.

Sophia can be purchased from these vendors:

Whoever said being your friend is cheap doesn't know what they're talking about, brother. I'm sold and on a silica trip lately in rebuildableland. Andrew's youtube video, first time I've seen this gentlemen, was amazingly clear and the sophia is described as a killer of the killer705 atty. As far as the fiddle fact goes, without owning one yet it doesn't look any harder than picking up blind squonking on a Reo. Lefty loosey 'n righty tighty folks!

LOL! :) I do some horse-trading, and sell devices from time to time to pad my monthly vape-budget some if needed. ;)

Sophia is a purchase I've been VERY happy with. I'm sure you will enjoy her as much as I (and others) do. I still need to pick up a long-body and a couple of Leo's double O-ring DTs for Sophia. She deserves a couple of nice gifts. :D
