I played competitive ice hockey (juniors) all through my youth up until I was about 19. I started smoking after my hockey career ended (I used to dip). Maybe 3 or 4 years ago I started playing in a beer league and I noticed IMMEDIATELY how horrible my lungs had been affected. I kept smoking for a while in spite of it until I just had enough. Since vaping exclusively my lungs have functioned properly and are, I feel, almost fully repaired. I can't explain how great it feels skating again without the sharp pains and coughing. Thank you VAPELIFE!! You saved mine, and made me fall in love with my sport all over again.

Hey everyone! I've been casually vaping off and on for two years now, but I finally took the plunge and started vaping exclusively. I am almost 4 days tobacco free! It's the longest I've been without tobacco in 7 years!!! It's been a lot easier than I thought it would be.

Something that keeps me going is to think about the horrible realities of being a tobacco user.

What are the things about tobacco you are glad to have behind you? The smell? The taste? The money? What did you hate most about smoking?

I could really use the little reminders throughout the day.
1. My car doesn't smell like a putrid ashtray.
2. My clothes don't smell like a putrid ashtray.
3. My mouth doesn't smell like a putrid ashtray.
4. My house doesn't smell like a putrid ashtray.
5. Better overall health.
6. A fun hobby.
7. Great flavors.
8. I get to build neat stuff.

Lessee...

What are the things about tobacco you are glad to have behind you?

The financial ball and chain.

When you are addicted to smoking you never feel like you have a choice in the matter. Where's the pack? Can it get me through the night? If it can't where's the closest 24 hour store? Damn! The prices went up again!?!? It costs you and you know it's going to keep costing you. And that sucks having that hang over your head.

Now, if I'm blowing money on shiny vape toys it's not because I'm going to have a meltdown like I would staring at an empty pack of cigarettes. There is absolutely nothing new I "need" to buy in vape gear that will make me end up punching a wall if I don't have it in the next five minutes. Can't say the same thing about the need for cigarettes. If I blow money on vape gear it's because I want to, not because I'm trapped into it. It's a choice I never felt I had when I was smoking.

I could talk about the benefits I've noticed since I quit smoking all day long  It would be easier for me to list the negatives of vaping, since there aren't very many that I've noticed, but just for fun here are a few of the positives:

1. I feel better! I can do things I love a lot easier (or for longer), for instance:
  • Traditional Archery - I can walk through the woods for hours at a time and shoot my recurve bow without feeling like I am dying :)
  • Poker - I can sit at the table for a lot longer since I don't have to get up and leave to smoke every 30-45 minutes
  • Movies - I used to sit through the second half of every movie I watched (in theaters) just waiting for it to end so I could go smoke a cigarette, which made it hard to actually pay attention. This may not be a big deal to most, but I love movies, so being able to (stealth) vape in the theater is a major bonus in my book :)

2. I've saved a lot of money! Which means I have more money to spend on the above :2cool:
  • As you can see in my signature I would have spent over $3,430 on cigarettes, and I've only spent $1,477 on vape related items, which means I've saved over $1,950 since quitting :D

3. No more constantly holding things that are on fire (lit cigarettes)!
  • Which means no more accidentally burning holes in the carpet, my clothes, or myself :)

4. I can smell and taste things a lot better!
  • Food and drinks are more enjoyable.
  • Of course smelling things better is both a blessing and a curse

5. No more driving to the smoke shop every 9-10 days to buy a carton of cigarettes.
  • Which means I have probably saved another $300-$500 in gas money.

6. I drink more water.
  • Before I quit smoking I did not drink nearly enough water, but now that I vape I drink water all day long

7. Last but definitely not least, I now have ECF!

I'm sure I could think of plenty of other benefits, but I'm sure you get the idea, and if you don't, the "idea" is that I am extremely happy that I no longer smoke

Firstly I have that stinky monkey off my back...it had become a Love-Hate relationship.

No more smoker's cough, no more burns in clothing, bedding, furniture, stinky car and yellow/brown tinge to walls, windows etc.

more so I FEEL BETTER!

as for savings we rolled our own..but I really really LOVE giving CVS $200 less per month in respiratory RXs that's for DARN sure.
I had the flu the last two years that horrible H1N1/pneumococcal the better part of the four months last year and with smoking the respiratory just never got much better until we quit smoking.

and Caramel no censoring yeah more "stamina" if you will..most noticeably on stairs of course:p

and I'm really grateful for this community..and being part of it..I've done so many google searches for questions about my gear, juices etc and guess where the answers about 90% of the time come from? You wonderful peeps!!! :)

Eye tokes - I don't miss when some of the smoke would get into my eyes!
The constant side stream - It always seem to find the non-smokers lol
Ashtrays - I certainly don't miss knocking those over and having to clean them up

I smell better and now everyone I live with does too. My house, clothes and cars is cleaner and smell better.

I no longer feel guilty or shame around my family and they are proud of me for finally dropping a 20 year habit. I no longer have to hear their pleas for my life and theirs.
