I used some PTFE tape to give my shell a rubber coat. It was material left-over from a waterfall I built. It's actually used to bond pond liner seams. It's SUPER STICKY!! I only ran a band around it for now, but intend on re-doing it to cover the entire case around the sides. I actually covered the skwishing window with the material, because A) It's very hard to cut straight/true and B) The material is very flexible and C) It keeps any dust/debris out of the mod. I'll post pics when the final run is complete

I have some of that tape from the pond build. The only thing is that tape is UGLY lol but yeah VERY tacky! Hubby thinks I should try some tool dip it also comes in colors, now this may be very workable, just need to wait till I get an extra shell to explore different options. You know I am now glad that the XL was not avaliable in the shiney silver, as I would have bought that one, and that one would have been really slick.

The threads can be finicky on first use. Try polishing them with some steel wool, or screwing & unscrewing the cartos. A little lube might help. (That's what she said.) :pervy:

Good call. After my 510 batts failed and I was researching possible causes I discovered the problem that they can potentially have when atties/cartos are screwed on too tight and push the contact pin on the battery down too far, so I was just being too gentle with it when screwing in the atties/cartos on my Vmod.

However, I am still having a couple of issues, likely user produced:

1) I can't get a really good hit off of it using the attie/carto provided with my kit. However, I believe the kit that I received was a prototype or initial run, and does not have the Silo carto or AMG Hybrid attie. Rather, I received a "1.3 Venturi" in 2.2ohm and a "Hyrbid Uni" in 2.2ohm. Admittedly, I have limited experience with atties, so I have no doubt I might be the cause of the atties lack of performance. However, the carto's vape is rather lackluster as well.

That said, I threw a Boge 2.0 on there and it hit like a champ, so I am sure that this issue can be attributed to cartos and atties, rather than the device itself

2) I cannot get the carto or attie provided in my kit to bottom feed properly. Every time I try to bottom feed juice I either end up not getting enough juice in there and have a nasty hit, or I get too much and end up with juice up and down the outside of my carto

Hey Jordan85,

I really hope you have tried the whole tighten down the atty/carto down farther than you think. Mine is like that to with certain atties/cartos, it will feel as though you have tightened it all the way but you can actually go farther(and it may be a hard turn or so ) but it will turn

that was the problem exactly :)

Not sure if anybody elde does this but I remove the little rubber gasket from the Vapage attie/silos before screwing them in. I don't think they are really needed on the XL feed sytem and helps to seat the attie/carto down better in the chamber.

With the atty firmly screwed in you could try my technique and give a little firmer squeeze when tilting then right the XL remove the drip tip and give it a good squeeze. You should see juice absolutely flood the atty then get sucked back down in the chamber as you release the squeeze. Give a couple more little squeezes and it sucks the excess juice down as well... Put the drip tip back in and vape clouds... Hopefully.

HTH...

Cheers...

The lower gasket is not needed on the XL & should be removed.

It IS needed on the 14500 Vmod.

Nice catch Scotay!

Thanks AG...

I could not recall if it had been mentioned or not so I thought I would throw that out there about the oring/gasket...

@Jordan85... A little bit of juice on the outside of the attie/carto is not really a bad thing since the cone acts more or less as drip shield... My first go round with the XL I overfed it so much I had juice oozing out the holes on the cone... I was thinking rut roh... Here we go with the fiddling again to get things just right but has not happened since the one time...

You must have really over fed it to get it to ooze out the cone! ;)

That was before I fingered out to remove the gasket on the atty and tighten it down more... Learnt that in a ski lodge on a liquid courage break when first assembling the XL when I went skiing X-mas day... Had no puter to get help...

Hey guys, I don't see the gasket you are talking about. Could someone link me to a pic of an attie/carto that has the gasket on it?

Also, what do you guys think of the AMG atties from vapage? I had originally ordered four extra atties from them, but I ordered them in 1.5ohm and they sent them in 2.5ohm

I recall reading that you were a fan of them AG, but as underwhelmed as I have been with the Uni attie I received with my kit and seeing as the AMG atties are a bit pricey I was halfway thinking of just returning them and cancelling the order and ordering atties from somewhere else

Hey, AG, how about setting up a survey page so we can mark and rate cartos and atties on the XL?

For me so far at 3.7v, even though they feed unconventionally, nothing has topped the i06 1.8. I was looking for a "just works" atty that never tastes burned and can last and this might be it.

IMG_2011xm.jpg

i06 with section of the cap used as adapter for glued-on mouthpiece.
The o-ring is about the size of the inner o-ring in the XL well, to show
how loose it fits over naked i06 body. Air now feeds from above.

The little whiteish rubber washer looking thingy that sits at the base of the Vapage atties/cartos above the threads... Sorry no pic...

My bad I went and looked up the item number at Madvapes and it is in fact the first one you posted, so I am still good!

You have to try these at 6V. I think this combo is my holy grail. Just ordered a slew of batts from SuperT, and a pile of carto's from MV.

I have to say, the DCC gives me a substantially better flavor at 3.7, than the stock 2.2ohm atty and carto both, but at 6V it just plain rocks. Can't wait for my next shippment!

Not really a good way to set up a poll. There is a poll subforum, but this isn't really an appropriate topic.

To be honest I have not tried any vaping at high voltage at all. I do have enough points built up at Madvapes I could try thier little vv box mod. I had looked at that thing since I started vaping. I am so stuck on the XL, are there any batteries that Madvapes has that would up the voltage?

You can use the 4.8v NIMH batts, or stacked 16340's at 3v for 6v total, or stacked 3.7v for 7.4v total.

The darn thing just works, don't it CD ?!?

Yep, and I am loving it even more on day two! I'm even getting to kinda like the Vapage Red juice :)

This thing really changes the e-cig thing for me. Much more analog-ish hit. I was still doing a few analogs with the Halo, but haven't had one since the Vmod arrived!

I like the Halo G6 still, it has it's place. But for my all-day work-from-home vaping, the Vmod XL is where it's at!
