Sounds like a bad atomizer to me. I get those 'atty pops' now and again with the Joyetechs when new. Did it sound like a muffled pop? Could you feel it sightly when taking the hit? The atty not working after is a pretty tell-tale sign. What kind of wattage do you have the Kick set at?

I think the kick being a bit out of place was just a coincidence.

I'm glad you found a fix TB. I had something strange happen yesterday. I was using my newly kicked vmod, and it had been sitting for a while, then i picked it up to take a pull off of it, and as soon as I started there was a blast of pressure (the only way i can decribe it), which was really startling. I took everything off and the kick was kinda cattywomp in there, so I adjusted it, put it back together, and it worked fiine for about an hour. It did a milder version of the pressure thing again, then the atty went out. It was a fresh battery, so I got out a Silo Carto and put it on, 2.2ohms, and it's been working fine since then. It has hit about the same as with the 2.0 atty; confirming the kick's ability to adjust any ohms to the setting. Anybody ever have the blast of pressure happen? it was a first for me.
Happy Vapng Everyone.

Yea, I think you're right, the placement was a coincidence. I've had atty pops from new attys before, this was a lot more powerful and actually felt like air pressure being blasted into my mouth. I have the kick set to about 9 watts. It's been a good warm vape wiith nice throat hit and vapor. What do you have your kick set to?

I have mine set to about 9.5w if I do the calculation correctly. Hard to tell exactly with the pot dial. 9 is a pretty good spot for 2 ohms. Was it a brand new atty? Some of the attys come with the coil coated with a lubricant solution that can't handle high volts right away. I usually try to blow out the atty before I start using it. I also kind of 'season' the atty a bit on an eGo before putting it on a bigger mod. Works well.

Actually it was a vapage 2.0 that was on my vmod 2.0 for about 3 weeks, so it was good and broke in. I've never eased an atty into it like that, with an Ego; I've been using atties, mainly vapage attys for a few months, so I'm familiar with the process. I have my first Aero atty sitting here waiting to be put on my Reo Woodvil. It came in a bag with visable solution on it. I think I'll clean it up and put it on the ego for a day or so; do a little dripping. I think it must have been the other atty's time had come, and the power behind it with the kick gave it a real powerful pop. Interesting. Thanks for your feedback TB.

Was it one of the newer slant coil attys? Kind of surprising it only lasted a couple of weeks, but you never know with these things. Not sure if you have seen anything like this yet, but here is a pretty handy chart to gauge how hard you're pushing coils with amperage/volts/watts. (courtesy of shado)

Yes it was a ShiFu, and I was very suprised because I've had another ShiFu atty last 4 weeks, then cleaned, and last 3-4 weeks more. I've been really pleased with the new vapage attys. I hope this was an isolated incident. It was really strange. That is a really cool chart, thanks for the link. What kind of atty are you using?

Yea it was like a BIG Burst, it scared me pretty good! Were you using the Kick at the time Tat? Three bottles sounds like a long time. :)

Ya, I was pushing 8.5 watts at the time. But I honestly don't beleive the kick had any cause in this. I use it in every device I can put it in:laugh:

The only other problem I had with a ShiFu atomizer happened with a Universal 2.0 that I was using on my Reo Woodvil for about 7-10 days, it just quit working on me. It worked great up until then. I thought it was the Reo at first, because I was expecting to get at least 3-4 weeks out of the attty. The post was pushed in a little so I tried pulling it back out, still nothing. I'd heard about Vapage attys shorting out Reos, but it was happening with the AMG hybrids because of the center post that sticks out, so i thought the Uni's would be fine. I don't know what caused it but the atty is dead. Strange. I still love the Vapage attys, I havent't had anything better, and I haven't found any other incidents like what's happened with mine.

I picked up a half dozen Joyetech XL 2 ohm attys as part of a co-op. They are a tad longer than a Boge carto. Work pretty well. I got my XL used and it came with some used Vapage hybrids, so I have been trying some others. I did flop for some new slant coils over the weekend. They had all 3 resistances available, so picked up a pack of both 2.0 and 2.5.

Sorry to change directions on you guys but just had to let everyone know what Vapage got in... just in time for Christmas...a great stocking stuffer!

It'll be on the Vapage site today.

It's called the Eciggo, a Zippo-like lighter, but it's an e-cig!

It's a 240 mAh battery, uses cartomizers, and is sooo pocket friendly.

How cute is THIS!!!

Just a heads-up to anyone considering purchasing one of these... In one word: DON'T.

The product itself is alright and the owner (I forgot his name by now) is a good guy, but pray you don't ever have to deal with their customer service, and just shady business practices in general.

If you are cool with rolling the dice on everything functioning perfectly, go for it. But I promise you that you'll be running from this company once you have to deal with their customer service for anything.

Cheers
