Yep, bought 5 more of each, getting some brass jam-nuts made up to make them easier to install. While soldering to the SS worked, soldering to a brass jam-nut will be a lot easier. Actually I am going to solder the ferrule end of a "Male Tab" Stay-Kon fitting to the nut, then just crimp a Female Disconnect Stay-Kon to the wire that will attach to it. I.e. it will turn it into a quick disconnect for easy installation or replacement.

Let us know how that spring loaded pin work with these Chi-You flat tops please. I have been think about buying a few.

Would it be cheaper and easier all around if you had your machine shop buddy turn down the back of the connector to a smaller size and then you could even cut the threads with a die. Then normal and smaller size nuts and washer be used.

Hmmm...just looked at the connector again....not a lot of meat there....I think I'm out of easy ideas.

I think if it was me I would take down the back side along with ~1/2 of the front side down to something like 3/8" and then thread it.

I was hoping bap would know. I wasn't planning on ordering the spring loaded pins until a co-op was started. In the meantime, the top caps have telescopic pins so a standard fork or ring terminal could go between the two telescopic nuts, allowing for a little adjustment at least initially. The spring loaded center pin would be ideal though, and the 20 amps "limit" is more than enough. A brass jam nut and/or washer would be great for the other connection, I haven't brainstormed anything better than that. One could buy a brass Chi-you clone and cut the threaded tube sections into rings, I'm not sure it's "cost effective" but it's something. One mod tube should make a few jam nuts and a spare top cap.

Edit: Can any of you more knowledgeable folks tell me what other mods use the same threading as those top caps? I know it's more than the Chi-you and King, but totally forgot where I read it.

Any possibility of tapping a small hole on the bottom of the cap for a brass screw to hold a fork or ring terminal? I'm still scratching my head but it seems like that would make for a really easy cap swap. A jam-nut would still be nice though.

Send me a chi you clone and I can measure the threads and see how the pin might work....preferably in stainless.....

I have actually be eyeing up the chi you clones since they are 23mm....I think a chi you and TGT side by side would look pretty good :D

But I have quite a few 22mm mech clones inbound already....hmm

enough with the mech clones already, bap! ;) didn't you say you were working on a vv side-by-side?

All my side by sides are VW either using a kick2 or DNA....I'm waiting on parts....due in tomorrow.

I have a couple of kicks torn down to the base pcb....the goal with the kicks is to achieve sleek external wattage adjustment.

Yes....and now I'm waiting on chi you clone ....but at least it's coming from Nevada and not China

Sorry, I had one but sold it. I had to sand off the numbers and logo to get rid of it. The first and one of very few sold on the ECF classies. I think the tube itself was 22mm but it's gone now and I can't be sure. I'm more interested in the thread pitch matching other mods but that has been revealed recently on the FT forums. It's pretty common.

I hope you find out soon, the spring-pin looks ideal. Once the WeekEnder or any other DNA mod is all put together, adjusting the mod's center pin would be a PIA. Price point aside, the 510 connector threads and center pin are the weakest links in the chain in this form factor.

JMO, I know very little compared to some of you.

hi babgood
should have looked a little closer ...bummer ..will research a bit to find a 3.7 volt one.
I think mikes is 3.7 v and 6000 mah ...will look at it again .
size is not that important it will be separate from the mod .
when mike finis his we will find out how he likes it. I will not use a 7.4 and dig into it again . and love the idea of a hard case.
have fun
