I just watched the video big and in HD instead of just in the thread......I'm guessing the round cap is the water proof cap and comes off for vaping and the oval is the oled a window to see juice level/etc......sounds really interesting....but at 7.36" long and ~1.125" diameter....its a big boy....I couldn't even imagine it with two 26650's....at least it would double as a billy club :D

*Edit....sorry still working on reading comprehension......"Curved OLED display behind Gorilla Glass"....that displays "• battery level ( in% and as graph ) • Liquid level ( in% and as graph ) • Watts ( adjustable from 5-50 watts)"

I ordered a couple of these to try out along with the battery holder that mike used in "the weekender" from FT. The main concern I have is will the mod be able to give the required amp draw to an atty at .8ohms at 20watts and if it will last longer than a day at the specified settings.

And great, thanks for the insight guys.

Just wanted to point out that this is only 4v @ 5amps. My daily all day vape is pulling 10 amps on a mech. That would last for like 2 days

Vape time/days depends so much on each person, IMHO its largely irrelevant. I guess I vape a lot, because no 18650 has lasted me a day if it was the only thing I was using.

I don't know much about the Samsung INR18650-20R 3.6V 2000mAh that Laoboi ordered....besides the price difference I'm not sure why someone wouldn't go with these Sony's.

Maybe I missed something, but is the 30 amp really necessary? I figured that with 2 equaling 60 amp continuous, that would be overkill. I was hoping to use Panasonic NCR18650PF's, I have 2 unused and waiting for this project. An extra 800mAh per battery would be nice.

Edit: I get that 2 high drain batteries will allow for lower ohm coils to be used, but I don't even go under 0.8 even with dual coils...

IMHO most of these batteries excessively inflate their specs. It's one of those things you just have to try. Like Mike I have seen others try to use high mAh 18650's and they just don't perform like they should....even in parallel.

I cant keep up with all the different batteries or find the tests with all the fancy curves and etc.

It's hard to believe but sometimes its easy to get longer vape time out of a lower mAh battery with a higher discharge rating.

Necessary, not in my opinion. They will work fine with a DNA, thats what I currently have in my "Weekender" and these batteries have never been a limiting factor. I like the 2900mA capacity and I dont need the anything over 10A in my DNA20 build.

Now for a mechanical Mod then it all depends on what and how you vape, some may need that extra amperage, and obviously the DNA30 will push the bats a little harder as well.

My next build will be LiPo, not because of the higher currents but because of the higher capacity, i.e. power density.

Mike are you still using the using PD's? Are they or the original Panasonic's you were using protected?

I was looking at the PF's at FT and they list them as unprotected and don't say anything either way on the others. I do know that Evolv recommends using unprotected high drain batts.

I ended up buying 5 pairs of the PFs. In anticipation for the Tibs2.:) They are not protected but two connected to a Groove last less at 5800 mAh than the new lipo's I put in last night at 3200mAh. Go figure. :) IMO If I am going to be vaping these verticals at over 15 watts I will have to use the Lipo packs or figure on 4 of the PF's per day.

I am using the PDs (essentially the same as the PFs) and they are unprotected.

The original battery I used was the 18650B which maxed out at 3A (6A for 2) and that didnt cut it with the DNA.

The PDs with the 10A rating have been working fine.

Yep, not really a weekender for me....:) My original weekender with the DNA12 and two batts gave me 17 hours, but that was when I was doing those sissy gennies with Ao wicks and coils at 8 watts.:D:D

Boooooooo, I still have a soft spot in my heart for those, they are what got me off the cigars.....

So what is the difference between the PF and the PD?

The PF is just the newer generation of the PD. Basic specs are darn near identical, though the PF is touted as a safer chemistry. Both are 10A cont, the PD was 2800mAh where the PF is 2900. It is really hard to nail down any more than that though as Panasonic never published many specs on the PD. At least none that I ever found and I looked pretty hard.

Ok yeah... Sorry I was thinking had a PD in my vamo but I just yanked it and is most certainly is not. It is an NCR18650B Li-ion MH12210
I think this is the 3400mah 7A.... Could 4 of these be used in a DNA20 build? That would be 13,600 mah.... lol

So the only 18650 batteries you can use with the DNA20 are unprotected batteries?

Yes, that is what they recommend. Dont want the batteries protection circuit fighting with the DNA's needs and protection.

Most protected batteries cut out too prematurely for the DNA, i.e. before 7A, but with the newer high drain bats it may not be so much of an issue. I have seen at least one protected bat that had a cutoff above 7A, but only one so far.

I would soooooo go LiPo before doing that!

What are some good LiPo's? I just want to have a DNA20 would serve the purpose of the weekender for me, but because I just dropped my nic way down I vape a ton more than anyone should. I probably go through 3-4 tanks a day in my RSST and I drip in a sub-ohm as well. between the vamo and the mech I kill at least 3 18650's a day...
