On a parallel wrap like that one you do have to burn/oxidize the coil as with any full contact coil right?

No.. It won't
I second that. And may everyone have a wonderful day.Happy Labor Day to all the wompers out there!
Right now I am vaping INW Gold Ducat. Heard a lot of good about this tobacco blend but it was always out of stock. Finally got my hands on a bottle. A good pipe tobacco with a marvellous after taste of honey. The majority of the INW flavors I have used is tobacco flavors and they are one of my favorites.
I was wondering, what percentage did you use for the Gold Ducat?
I finally tried out my cherry pipe tobacco flavor, and it's not bad at all, though maybe just a touch too sweet; next iteration will definitely have less sweetener, and maybe less Vanilla Swirl too, but the TFA Cherry Extract is excellent. The TH is also outstanding, terrific tingle, great for post-mealtime, but of course, it's a tobacco, so a long steep seems completely necessary -- at 1 wk, it showed potential, but wasn't that great. Now, at more than a month steeping, it's very good -- but a touch too sweet, as I said.
This is the recipe I used:
INW Vanilla for Pipe 6%
INW Deluxe TDM 5%
TFA Vanilla Swirl 4%
TFA Cherry Extract 4%
TFA Sweetener 2%
I was thinking I might just use the Gold Ducat in place of both the Vanilla Pipe and Deluxe TDM, say 10%, and use only about .5% sweetener, and bring the Vanilla Swirl from 4% to 2%. Or would 10% of the Gold Ducat be too much? I know some tobacco flavors go completely sideways if you use too much.

Yep, its been a busy night. Guess they wanted to make sure I earned that 8 hours holiday pay!
For all my mixing, especially tobacco mixes I like to start out with single flavors at %5 and then give them a good 8 to 10 hours in the ultrasonic cleaner to help blend the mixture. INW Vanilla pipe is excellent as a stand alone at %5 and even better with just a hint (%1) of extra vanilla and a week heat steep (dark bag in the car) after the UC bath.
The thing is, tobacco's are a hard flavor to mix and you will want a solid idea of what flavor the base is before doctoring it up. Thats why I vape it as a single flavor before experimenting further.
Hmm ok. I don't have any fancy gizmos for steeping or mixing; I shake the living hell out of it till it's basically froth, put it down, let it settle, and do that 3-4 more times (remember, I use 86% PG, so it's not thick at all). Then I put the little bottle (I never do more than 5ml for new flavors I'm trying) inside a salvaged magarine bowl and put the lid on, to keep it in shadow if not absolute darkness; give it a weekly shake if I remember it, but basically just forget it for a month/6 weeks -- this is for tobacco flavors of course; with anything non-tobacco, if it's not vapable within about 12 hrs, I ain't interested!
The Gold Ducat smells a lot smokier to me, than either the Vanilla Pipe or Deluxe TDM, but also fairly sweet. To me, the Vanilla Pipe smells like PlayDoh, so I don't think I'd care for it stand-alone, but mixed with that Deluxe TDM it's pretty good. Problem with the TDM is that part of the flavor is cocoa, which I can't taste in a vape to save my life, so it's wasted on me.
Have you tried the Dirty Neutral Base? I got some of that, thought it might appeal to me more than the Virginia tobacco absolute; when I lost my taste for Virginia tobacco, I REALLY lost it. To me, now, it just tastes/smells sorta sour-ish, sour in the way of laundry that got left in the washing machine and forgot to put it in the dryer.

I make non compressed coils. I anneal them with a bic lighter before wrapping. Never burn them in before wicking. They work out spaced about one wire width apart.I would think ANY Kanthal build in general should be dry burned before vaping.. Kanthal develops its own layer of alumina when its heated which helps insulate it, helps it heat consistently and keeps it from frying. Contact coil or spaced, this is the way Kanthal is so I would think you would want to do it with any coil.
