My guess, which is simply that at this point, is that a formula may indeed be possible, but it would not be a simple formula. It would involve numerous variables, some of which are very difficult to assign values to. For example, the volume of air being moved past the coil per second would play a role, the volume of vapor produced per second as well. Then you have variables related to the heat flux of the coil, and possibly even coil efficiency coming into play. I'm not sure I could even begin to put together a proper list of all the variables that would need to be part of said formula.
So while I technically disagree with Boden, because I think a formula could be arrived at, I don't completely disagree with him because I don't think it would be practical to define it, or once defined to measure some of the things that need measured. You can't leave all those variables undefined after all.

If you really really want to work it out, get a bunch of volunteers. Break them into subgroups. Each subgroup gets a standard nic solution at several data points, maybe 3, 12, and 24 mg for simplicity. Stick flow meters on the drip tips. Measure volume of each inhale, which will give you known nic intake. Draw bloods at time early time points from the inhale and quantitatively measure nic concentration. Compare total inhaled to serum concentration achieved. If the serum levels rise in a linear manner, you can now extrapolate nic concentrations based on the test liquid chosen. If it is nonlinear and plateaus, that is, at a certain point you just can't absorb anymore, you'll have to choose concentrations that allow for variance dependent on dose administration.

With that knowledge, you can now go to town with different coils, liquids, and wattage and follow concentrations to see what variables produce what effect, possible allowing you to then create a formula. And if in fact it yields a consistent result which can be duplicated by others, I vote for naming it Boden's law, for the person who led the way to the scientific understanding of vaping.

Hell, even the FDA might like it. They love convoluted stuff like this in applications. Doesn't matter if they understand it, but it makes them feel like they're as smart as you are.

The above is a broad outline subject to revision, does not represent a formal proposal, has not been approved by an institution review board. No animals were injured in preparing this back of the napkin thought experiment.

Ain't no going back for you ! Get ya thumbs down and get them Aliens glowin

Ah, I get it now, tootling is for poor people :p

Ahem..... :glare: :D ;)

And for frugal people. :D

Yes! :D

This is "dumb question of the day" -- to all you folks who used to smoke, why did we do this to ourselves? Not "why did you start" (most of us thought it made us look "grown up"), but why did we continue to smoke all those years when it obviously had a negative effect on our health?

By the time I was ready to quit, the cigs didn't want to quit me :(

And actually I find that moving into DL type setups has helped me, I'll often miss one of my "allowed" cigs and not even think about it anymore. I know that isn't the answer for everyone, and I do still very occasionally like a nice MtL, but that has done alot to help me. It's the first thing in the morning one that I haven't been able to skip yet even when I try. Don't know why, but for some reason I can't vape without coughing my head off (no matter what setup I'm using) when I first get up, but after I've had that cig, I can vape no problem. Really strange.

My sister had the SAME reaction to vaping. She vaped for a few weeks and coughed so much she just started chewing the gum. Thing is, when I had coughing spells, I'd smoke and they would stop. I think maybe my lungs were somehow "frozen" for a bit. Make sense? Thing is, when you finally quit the last ones, you'll start coughing stuff up. Right now, those last few ciggies are keeping your cilia from growing back. So, once all that gunk is out, you'll stop that coughing.

The cigarettes anesthetize (OH HELL, THAT WAS REALLY DIFFICULT!) your throat, so you're numbing it with that first cig, then vaping doesn't make you cough. I was coughing with my first few vapes in the morning, too, for a while, but eventually that subsided. Now I have no problems with it at all.

This in bold. Cigarettes are engineered to numb the throat.

You will get used to vaping first thing in the morning...eventually. Might take a couple of weeks. What I would do is hold the vapor in my mouth for a while. Take a few shallow inhales with the held vapor.

After a couple of weeks....I stopped coughing with that first vape of the day.

Seriously peeplez.......almost 7 pages???!!! Howdy Robin! good to see ya hun

We picked up a Hamilton Beach "FlexBrew" some time back. Takes pods, but came with its own "basket" for single cup brewing as well. Yeah, not just the cost of the pods, but the waste.... This one works well, was about $50 (Wally World), and makes a good size mug at a time, if desired.
This is the one that my g/f had that I house sit for, and I really liked it.
Hamilton Beach 12-Cup 2-Way FlexBrew Coffee Maker, 49983, Silver/Black - Walmart.com I've always used Bunns, but probably won't buy another one. Just too expensive, and many other really great coffee pots out there now for much cheaper.

Just subohmed for the first time. I'll never be the same.
Look at you go!!!! What ohm coil did you make it?

Rixy, I guess I didn't press the + button right, because I tried it again and it works now! Yippieeee!!! Thanks guys!!!
Yay! Glad ya got it workin. I gotta get some other kind of TC mod at some point since my cuboid isn't working.

Oh well, at least the squonker works fine in 90+ degree weather.
that's good. A lotta times heat will cause them to autosquonk. Not quite as bad if you use higher vg juice.

Enjoy Kad. See you soon. :)

that really is a gorgeous mod!! Love the finish on it, and that color is so pretty

I did a flow chart for y'all. Should be easy to reach your goals now.

So been trying to guesstimate how long the 900mAh lipo pack will last on my DX200. Started with a full Boreas, battery indicator look like it's at about half, Boreas is maybe about 1/4 full. This setup is running at 55 watts, so maybe a tank and a half per charge with this setup. Think I'll still get the dual 18650 packs, but since this will normally be a secondary rather than primary setup, a tank and a half is still at least a couple days, so not bad.

Two days on a 900 mAh running like that isn't bad at all. My 3 cell 1300 mAh Lipo held up for about 2 1/2 to 3 days at 20W, about 5 ml a day. My triple 18650, however, only needs to be charged about once a week. However, with my Crius Plus and higher wattage, that probably won't hold true for much longer.

Maybe that's why mine didn't leak then. The tank was full when it was the hottest part of the day. Or maybe I just got lucky.

Other than rapid changes of altitude, the only time I've ever had leaks have been going from cool or A/C into really hot ambient temps. But if you can just remember to chain vape when making the temp change... ;)

Like you I seek to simplify. You could simply say double the wattage, half the nic.

Might be a reasonable starting point, and just add "adjust to taste/preference", like the old ball park number of watts to start with on a clearo.

This is the one that my g/f had that I house sit for, and I really liked it.

Our full size was (and is) working fine, we got Hamilton Beach FlexBrew Single-Serve Coffee Maker - Walmart.com

Not even close, typically maybe a second or slightly more after I let off the fire button.
Now I can see why Lannie proclaimed that you must have a lot of hair on your chest. I tried her sub-Ohm gear a few times and anything longer than 2 seconds of holding the button down burned my throat and left no desire to continue sucking after letting go. Ouch! :grr: (I think 40 pounds of hair burned OFF my chest!)
It's obvious you didn't work at Microsoft.
No, and generally I don't mention what company because I am ashamed of them after having 23,000 employees, they moved all their manufacturing to India and China and laid off all but a few engineers and admin who might still be lurking in Beaverton, Orygun. But I'll 'fess up here. I was an engineering manager at a remote experimental division of Tektronix. We relocated our division to try out being independent of the parent facilities, with no requirements to use corporate functions or rules, so I went over there as Technical Publications Manager, then up the ladder (I did a total of 20 years with Tek). At our facility in Redmond (Orygun, not Washington), each of us took on far more responsibilities than someone with the same title would have done in the parent facility in Beaverton. Our division designed and built Fiber Optic and Metallic Time Domain Reflectometers (tools to help telephone companies locate faults in buried cables miles from the test points). I wanted to simplify everything, so I had to get involved with manufacturing and marketing and sales as well as engineering, to ensure the direction I was moving would be acceptable and beneficial to all -- especially the customers.
You could simply say double the wattage, half the nic. But that would be very very crude.
So my first WAG wasn't too far off: 2X Watts = Y/2 nic. even if that is crude... :)

FP is I think on page 7, not sure when you were last there.
left off on 4......probably more than 7 now

what did I miss?? It does. When you're out in the heat here, you can vape all day without squonking. Specially with my thin juice. I'm sure there is something that went right over my head, but I missed it.

@Debadoo Where's you been sweetie, not seen much of you lately, everything OK x
awwwwww been missin you too. Think we've just been ships passin in the day time lol
