Yep she is going to be plumb knackered when she gets home.I miss @Atchafalaya hope you're having a great trip hun, and a safe trip home!!!
yeah they do.......also Bolt Depot. I had to order from mcmaster because bolt depot didn't have both sizes I needed. But for the one, I could have gotten 100 from BD for less than I paid for 20 at McM. McM also doesn't tell you how much shipping is until it's deducted from your acct. lol Don't like that. I didn't know til I got the pkg and saw the invoice. It was about 6.00 They had told me from $6 to $10. So check bolt depot first if you do need screws.
Honest opinion... Use a different tank. The screws are probably the right size but the holes are oversized.OK, gang, some serious screw questions (Lannie would have done this, but she's afraid to even say "screws" at the moment).

She went up and made two coils for that Goblin mini thingie. According to the calculator, the total should have measured about half an Ohm. She assembled them and put them on the tester: 0.39Ω... no, wait... 0.17Ω. What? I wiggled them around and discovered a coil was barely touching the ground post. It then measured 0.50Ω. OK, she done it good, right? Then she put them on a Disrupter and heated them up and it read 0.67Ω, then 1.23Ω, then... well, it went as high as 2.5Ω and we discovered that the screws were backing off all by themselves, thereby making lousy connections and increasing the resistance (at least momentarily). I tightened them as tight as they would go so we could not blame Lannie's weak thumbs. It measured good again. It was still screwed into the mod and just us handling the mod - WITHOUT TOUCHING THE DECK OR THE DAMN SCREWS - the resistance changed because the screws on the two outside posts were unscrewing themselves!!! Between the two of us, we probably tightened those screws a dozen times and they refuse to stay tight. Are the screws too small for the holes they are in? Where does one find replacement screws for something this tiny?
Now what?
Thanks, Woof, but one would have to know what to order. There were no destructions or parts list with the Goblin mini and my shop is not set up to measure anything smaller than 8-32.These folks have nearly everything ever made.
Nope. Kanthal. And even if it was SS, that shouldn't make the screws get loose all by themselves (minor vibration due to handling the mod it was screwed onto better NOT be sufficient to unscrew).Stainless wire?

No easy way to say it so I'll just come out with it, buy an authentic or a second hand one off the bay. In the end, most of the time it works out cheaper....That's not to say that all clones are bad of course. Thanks, Woof, but one would have to know what to order. hehehe see what ya did now? lmao this is too funny

It is the government rally cry... Ready, SET, SCREW! <nods>
wow.....sometimes those lil phillips screws will back out a bit, but it's never that much or that fast that I've ever heard of. Makes me wonder if something is stripped in there

Probably m2-0.4Thanks, Woof, but one would have to know what to order. There were no destructions or parts list with the Goblin mini and my shop is not set up to measure anything smaller than 8-32.
She's right... one single 60W incandescent in the Dungeon and I didn't try to color-correct in a photo program. The lighting must have been bad when Rich took the pic. It's NOT yellow.
I think you're exactly right. That was what I was thinking, too. It's like the holes on the negative posts are just a tad too big for the screws. They're following the threads, but it's not tight enough to hold. These tanks are brand new, I just got them, so I don't want to throw them in the trash until I've exhausted every possibility (if there even ARE possibilities). Also, I only tried the one, there's still another one still in the plastic that I haven't tried to build on yet. Maybe that one is better, and it's just this one tank that has the badly tapped posts. I dunno. My eyes are crossed (need some of Rixy's glasses, there), and my neck is stiff from fussing over this for TOO LONG, so I'm gonna put it away again and maybe try the other one tomorrow.
I sure am having bad luck with tanks lately. But for an RTA noob, I think I'm taking it rather well, don't you?![]()
