Huh. I learned something new today! Sometimes more IS better. There's this FlavourArt flavor that I absolutely HATE called "Forest Fruit" or "Forest Mix," depending on who did the label. I got it for one of Rixy's recipes, and then I didn't like it - it tasted like pine sap to me, seriously. It was OK if I reduced the amount down to like half a percent or something. Anyway, today I'm browsing the DIY section and I saw someone link to reviews on that flavor, and I thought I'd go read them. Because apparently I'm the only one in the entire universe that thinks it tastes like pine sap, and I'm still trying to figure out why.
One guy's review said he liked it at 7%

standalone, but that it needed sweetener to bring the berry mix flavor out because it wasn't a sweet flavor to begin with. I figured, "Hey, why not? I'll try it!" so I got a little 15ml squeezie bottle and mixed 7% Forest Fruit with 3% ethyl maltol, and damned if it doesn't taste COMPLETELY different! I LIKE IT! It has a sweet dark berry flavor, and that "pine sap" twang is so subdued it's hardly noticeable. I can taste blueberries and blackberries and some other stuff I'm not sure what it is, but it's good. So now I like this and I'll have to use up the rest of my bottle of flavoring.

It's quite a cool and refreshing taste, even with no menthol in it. It might be even better with a splash of menthol in it, but I'll have to do that experiment later. I'm just amazed that this flavor that I
really didn't like turned into one I love! Will wonders never cease?!?
