for me, just be a psychological thing of needing to inhale it just as often.

from Spinfuel:

There is something, some truth that is spoken about in e-cigarette forums dozens, maybe hundreds, of times a day that for the most part all Vapers know to be true but others, non-Vapers, do not know. It is this; Vapers vape a lot more than smokers smoke.

We all know this to be true. Hell, if I counted the number of puffs/drags I take everyday from my e-cigarette and applied that number to tobacco cigarettes I would be in the category of a “4+ packs a day” smoker.

I’m a chain Vaper, like tens of thousands of others, I vape all the time. Why not? It’s safe. Harmless even. Hell, maybe even beneficial to lung health. And cheap. There isn’t a single reason that I can see for not vaping anytime I have the urge. I call it ‘pacify vaping’

I've seen that quote before. But I may be an oddity (I've been told so!). In my last years of smoking, I usually stayed just under a pad with Am. Spirit. And after 2 years of vaping, I still usually end up with 170-200 hits a day.

goodbye
I started out with the Juul almost six months ago. Heck, it got me off a pack a day Marlboro habit, but it was too darn expensive to replace those little .07ml pods at $17.00 for 4 of them every few days. So, I decided to look for another system and found the Smok Novo. I still use the Novo once in awhile. It's a great refillable pod system that is draw activated. It's got good flavor, with a tight draw. Very comparable to smoking cigs. It's got a 2ml capcity, and the thing fits in the palm of my hand. I use 50mg salt nic, and 2ml lasts me almost two days. I have two brands of salt nic that I like. One is AQUA Salts, and the other is Daze Salt Series. Both come in multiple flavors. I tend to like the fruit flavors. I tried tobacco flavors to try to keep it close to cigs, but did not like them.

Well, being the tech geek that I am, I had to try more pod systems. I also have the MiniFit, which I love for stealth. I have the Vaporesso Renova ZERO which has by far, the best flavor with it's ceramic coils. But, I just had to get a mod, you know, being part of a community like ecf, how could I resist all the temptation. I still wanted MTL and the ability to use my salt nics. Not interested in big clouds of vape, just interested in never smoking cigs again. Come to find out, there are lot's of starter mod kits that fit just that bill.

I ended up picking up an Innokin Coolfire Mini 40W & Zenith D22 Starter Kit for about $40.00 at my local vape shop a couple of weeks ago, and I am just blown away by this little thing. The Zenith D22 tank has got a 2ml capacity and takes the 1.6ohm Plexus Z Coil rated for 10 to 14W for a great MTL and flavor that I never experienced before. It has adjustable air flow and easily fills via top fill. It's got an integrated 1300mAh rechargeable battery that lasts me two days. It fits in the palm of my hand and sits unnoticeable in my pocket.

If after you have used the Nord for awhile, and decide you want to kick it up a notch....I highly recommend this system. You can put whatever 510 drip tips on it you want. Heck, you can even use another 22mm tank on the battery if you choose. I do really like the Zenith D22 though. Innokin does have a new tank that just came out called the Zlide MTL Tank I think I'll try. Just watched a YT video yesterday by Phil Busardo, and it looks really nice.

Anyway, just my 2 cents. I hope you enjoy your Nord and mixing your own juices. I may have to give that a try one day soon.

OMG, I just watched a video on YouTube about making liquid. That looks so freaking easy. I also priced the nicotine, PG, and VG too. I'm going to have to give it a shot. This will save me a ton of money. I'm off to watch about nicotine salt recipes and hopefully, those are just as easy. I can totally do this.

I make my own liquid and with a proper scale it is really a matter of minutes to make yourselves 100 ml of juice, just have to be patient if it comes to steeping :) Saved a lot of money, not only that, you actually know what you are vaping, while with prepared bought liquids you never know what additives they add...

Some easy recipes I mix at the moment as I am a beginner myself, but they are good:

Custard King - steep around 3-4 weeks

Mustard Milk - steep around 2 weeks, but its already vapeable just after mixing, but flavor gets better while steeping.

Both recipes you can find by googling or on e-liquid-recipes (dot) com

For steeping... I cheat a bit. I use a food dehydrator ($70 from Bed, Bath, and Beyond) for this and 5 hrs. at 145F is very close to 2 weeks of steeping. After the 5 hrs. in the dehydrator I open the bottle and let it sit for around 2 hrs. to get rid of any chemical smell/taste and it's ready to vape. Fruits don't take as long as custards and nets, but I just use 5 hrs. for everything and generally just let it go overnight while I sleep. Going longer is not needed, but not a problem either.

I know many purists don't like speed steeping like this, but I bet I don't like waiting 2 weeks for a juice to mature far more than they dislike speed steeping ;)

As long as the taste is similar... and it is, I use this method instead of trying to rely on my patience, which is sadly lacking. This is especially true with a new mix I am anxious to try. I have done many control tests with letting juice steep naturally when I'm not in a hurry and just making an ADV vape that I don't need right away and at the end of the 2 week steep mixing a batch of the same juice and using the speed steep method and I know that at least for me there is no real difference in flavor. YMMV, but for me it's my preferred method.

I will say it's very useful to do a natural steep a couple of times and tasting the result every couple of days to better understand the changes in juice as the steep process occurs. It gives you a clear understanding of not only how the change happens, but what is the best steep time for your particular juice your working with. No need to let a juice steep for 2 weeks if the flavor is right for you in 5 days right?

I completely agree that I vape way more than I ever smoked. I never smoked in the house so now that I vape inside, I always have it in my hand. I have no doubt that it's just as much of a psychological addiction as it is to nicotine.

Thanks for the recipe suggestions. I'm actually really looking forward to trying some out. What is the purpose of steeping? Does it just taste better or is there some other reason? I know it probably blends the flavors better but just wondering if it's a have to, or if you were in a bind and couldn't steep, if that was fine too.

Heck yeah, on the Petty photo. He was a bucket list concert of mine and sadly, "someday" never came. The last time he was here I was unable to go and said I would catch him the next time around. He was gone a couple of months later. That loss stung... bad.

I got the Nord and my Suorin Drop today. I broke down and bought the Drop because I have no self-control. Ha! I loaded the Nord with the sub-ohm coil and my usual 1.5 mg Mother's Milk. The Drop I loaded with 30 mg of some tropical flavor of nic salts. First impressions are that I'm not as crazy about Mother's Milk in the Nord as I am in my Pico. I'm not sure what would cause the difference? I am really going to like the Nord and Drop.. and I think I'm going to love the nic salts. I'm going to have to mix some lower mg though. I'm thinking that 30 might be a bit much and I think I would be just as good with a lower mg.

Yeah I'd say get a a nice mouth to lung tank and get some salts before investing in a pod system my girlfriend got a pod system and she never uses the damn thing. She never uses it because I introduced her to a taifun GT4 and she runs in temperature control and it hits plenty hard for her she has a 9 mg liquid in there.

I always say don't ditch the mod ditch the tank before basically going to any kind of pod system most of the time you'll find it when you switch the tank and you put different liquids in it you'll get better results and you may not vape as much.

then again you don't have to take my advice you could probably get a small little pod system like she got and I forgot what it was called but it's made by sourin. It looks like a long rectangular pin with a v colored light on it.

Yes it stings. I miss him. He was one of my top 5 favorite rockers, and there will never be another Tom Petty. I saw him 3 times over the years. First time was 7/4/86 in Orchard Park, NY with The Grateful Dead and Bob Dylan. I'm lucky I can even remember that concert.o_O The second was 2/6/90 in Philadelphia at The Spectrum with Lenny Kravits. That was another banging concert. The last time I saw him was 5/21/2013 at The Beacon Theatre in NYC. That was probably the best, because it was the last time I saw him live. That book is a great biography of his life. Pick it up if you'd like a good read.

Oh, I think I'm going to love it. I never liked carrying around a big clunky mod. I liked it for the battery life but I think at this point I'll deal with not having that benefit. I'm going to love that they're more discreet.

Did you see picture of the Coolfire Mini? Not much bigger than the juice bottles next to it. The thing is tiny. Actually shorter than the Nord. The Nord is 94mm by 30mm by 18.8mm and the Mini is 63mm by 40mm by 23mm. I know that you just got your pods, but you may like to try the Mini in the future. I don't have anything that can beat its flavor. You can vape either salt nic or base nic ejuice with it, and the control you have over the vaping experience just beats the heck out of any of the pod systems I've tried. I take it with me everywhere I go, because of the fact it's so small and portable. Tryin' to sell you on the Coolfire Mini.....Just so ya know:)

I have no problem with the Coolfire Mini, looks like a nice little mod, but THB it's the same height as the eLeaf Pico and once you add a tank it's taller than a Nord at 108mm. But the flavor trade off might be worth the bulk. It doesn't seem to have TC though which for me would be a disqualifier for a full house mod tank combo, but many don't care for TC anyway so maybe not a negative for many.

But I wouldn't put this in a POD Mod category by any stretch, even though it's a nice mod.

I'm really liking the Nord. I like the Drop but the automatic draw is something to get used to. I think I prefer the button but I'll get used to it. I love the smaller size of both though. Now, I'm just waiting on my supplies so I can try to make my own liquid. I'm looking forward to trying that out.

Vaping is safe, so chain vape all you want? Really...I dont think so....it maybe safer then cigs, but saying its totally safe is not something I believe. And saying its beneficial?

Yeah, I’m not sure I subscribe to the belief that vaping is good for you. I mean, it’s absolutely lightyears better than smoking cigarettes. I definitely vape more than I ever smoked. Not saying that will change, but I would like to cut back. Plus, I’m not a cloud chaser. I actually hate the large plumes vaping with my Pico would leave in the air and like I said, my kiddo complains about it too. I know it’s just as much the psychological part of the habit as it is being dependent on nicotine. I honestly think quitting the nicotine is the easy part. It’s the actual hand to mouth act that is the killer for me.. the inhale, the exhale.. all of it. I am really liking the more discreet devices and I think I’ll be sticking with them, only using the mod as a backup if I use it at all.

So last evening I was watching a tv show where a detective was trying to quit smoking. In certain scenes they'd show her with a Juul in her hand (but not actually puffing on it).

My thought was "good for you lady"....her coworkers all said "is that one of those e-cigs?" Each time she would sheepishly say "yes" and hide it.

Later in the show she was smoking again and not one cross word was said. Not one. It's a 2016 television show with famous movie actors who smoke in this series. I was really surprised. Each one used a Zippo lighter.

I was saddened that Hollyweird places such a large stigma on vaping but the more I thought of it the more I realized that those folks are real good at telling us what we should and shouldn't do.

Meanwhile I thought "if only that detective had an Aurora Play, which is a Zippo style vape pod system perhaps she would have said to the other detectives "yeah it's an e-cig, you got a problem with that?" and pulled out her .44 and stuck it in the guys face and asked "or would you rather I have a nicotine fit right now?"....
