This does get "cheaper" right?

If I can avoid spending anything more this month, it seems that I have just broken even, in seven months. The future is looking brighter.

The vape expenditure includes *all* expenses, including freight/postage. I do have enough DIY and rebuildable supplies to last me quite some time.

That is an awesome graph! Is there a way that I or anyone els could get one?

Hi all,

Been a lurker for just over a month and sort of feel into vaping by accident. Bought a new car and swore I wasn't going to smoke in it so I was using the disposable Blu e-cigarettes when driving. They were "meh" at best. Still lit up whenever I got to where I was going. I happen to frequent other forums and came across a post where a member said he quit using a Tornado RCS from Totally Wicked and thought well why not, I'll give it a shot. The kit worked okay but it sparked my interest and a Google search later I found this place. And things... well escalated rather quickly.

The Tornado was replaced by an MVP2 which was soon backed up by an Itaste 3. Then I figured well I need something with replaceable batteries in case the FDA got really stupid so I started lurking in the Provari and Red sub forums. Dammit, that was dumb and as of today I'm now an owner of a Provari.

But I digress, for all the experienced vapers there is an end at some point right? At some point this hobby will become cheaper than smoking right? At some point I'll be able to browse this forum and tell myself I don't "need" another mod or look at something and think OMG I need to have that.

I guess one positive outcome is I haven't had an analog in over a month... 1-2 PAD American Spirit habit to nothing in four days... I never thought it would happen but it did.

Also, this has to be the "nicest" forum I have ever found. People here are awesome!

Taki
I think being cheaper is a definite possibility you just have to buy juice in the right place or make it yourself and not fall for the latest shiny mod.

Depends on how much you were spending on cigarettes, and the length of time you're vaping.

I used to keep a spreadsheet of how much I was spending, but that only lasted a year.
Now after 3+ years, my current "cigarette spend" would have been over $13,000
and I haven't come close to that in my vaping budget.

And I have enough supplies to vape for a year or more with no further purchases.

    But you will

A short note. I was smoking 2 packs a day. With that said, even the startup cost and getting the juice that I found , well sucks. LOL I am still in the black by plenty. Just ordered more juice from AltSmoke and the new ProTank 2 mini v2. So i feel it will get cheaper for you, but like one of the others said, you just have to find what you like and works for you. happy vaping ! :)

I don't really vape too much, but i think it's already helped me in terms of cost.

I've been using my 510 ($40), boge cartomizers ($7), and six flavors ($20) for the past three months since i started. So that's about $70. I haven't gotten anything new in a month. I think I may need some new cartomizers for $5.00 and some new flavors for $10.00 in a few months. But other than i think i'm set for like a year. Sounds good to me.

Maybe $5.00 roll of wire for coils, and another $5.00 to replenish a favorite flavor getting low.
Burned up that much money in a day smoking....

I keep reading your name as "Stash." Wonder why :)

Now, that would be a good nickname for many vapers, I suppose :)
After all, you gotta have a spare. And a spare for the spare. And... ah well, you get my drift ;)

But to me, buying nice vaping things is definitely preferable to having my money go up in smoke - with nothing to show for it except for cigarette butts and ashes :)

Yes anyone can do it. Just put all of your purchases into a spreadsheet with monthly totals, then insert a chart of the data. Perfect for defeating spousal disapproval at the amount you are spending. I've got to find out how much the new taxes added to tobacco this year, I'm sure it's more than my guess.

I was pretty shocked at the amount I spent in the first two months, however I *did* upgrade from my original purchase three times. If I could re-do those first two months I would not have spent so much.

I am on day 19 and can't believe what all I have bought but I am still happy with it all and am not smoking! I started out with a Kanger EVOD kit then had to buy a second kit to be sure to have enough back up. Then that just didn't seem to be enough so I just got my iTaste MVP2 with a pro tank 2. I love that so of course I had to get a wrap for it, a girl has to dress the things up you know. While I do love it, I really think I want a provari which will be easier for me to take with me. I'm going to try to make myself wait and buy myself that for Christmas, we shall see. I need to find my self control, I have lost it somewhere...

Don't feel too bad LD3441 In the last 2 weeks I've placed 18 orders and spent about $900. I won't be spending very much for a long time now though. I could probably make 0 purchases for the next year and half and not run out of anything. Realistically though I am setting myself a budget starting next month absolute limit of $100 per month for now on. I know I'll still occasionally get a new flavor or 2 of juice or there will be a new tank or whatever I Just have to try out.

LOL I don't feel bad at all! I probably should but...
I am not smoking and that is the main thing. I am happy with my purchases and I am sure there will be more. Budget? Hmmm, there is a thought. Maybe next year!

For me the first year was expensive because of all the experimenting with different things... started out with TW 510 cigalikes, moved on to the ego and then to a Ruff Stack that I have stayed with until now.

Once I got to the Ruff Stack, I also started mixing my own juice using supplies from Perfumer's Apprentice and after the initial expense of buying the measuring equipment things started getting a lot cheaper.

Since the Ruff Stack's firing button is on top, you can't put a tank on it (not without making it look real funny) and cartos... meh so, I just dripped staight into a simple 510 atty.

So, 510 attys, batteries, DIY juice and the occasional replacement switch for the Ruff Stack - pretty dang cheap compared to analogs. Plus, being off the cigs for over two years now, I feel great - and that is priceless.

With these new re-buildable atomizers, I can cut my costs even more BUT, that means I need to upgrade my PV . So, I just spent about $100 at FastTech for a Vamo v5, a Magneto (clone), a V5 RBA, a IGO-L , batteries, 30' of nichrome wire and a cool butane torch/lighter. Oh, AND $7 (including shipping) for a tank airflow controller state side.

Now my expenses will just be batteries and juice bc I can just tell that Magneto will outlast me. I'll probably buy a few more RBAs and experiment with different resistance wire, but that's small potatoes.

I guess it depends on what your personality is and what your desires are. I am not Grim Green. I do not need every PV, atty and gizmo that comes along.

To my thinking, my vapping experience is just about to get better and cheaper following the KISS rule (keep it simple stupid).

But, whatever floats your boat and brings you joy...

"Maybe" slowly gets cheaper if you're an impulse buyer. Definitely gets much cheaper if you're a savvy shopper who scavenges for deals and sales. Two years vaping total cost under $800 and I've got all sorts of juice, gear, batts, chargers, clearos, cartos, heads, etc...enuff to easily last another year. Big turnaround for me was starting DIY 1 month after beginning to vape. I'll admit the holiday sales available nowadays are not as good as they used to be.
