ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh the madness of upgrades

i should have been more patient and saved for what i really wanted and followed my gut....and advice from veteran vapers...

i'm now almost 9 months vaping finally it's getting cheaper =)

advices that i should have listened to:

1. buy the mod that is of good quality ,well built, Solid but good size- the kind you don't mind carrying around may it be mech or regulated
2. learn to do your own coils and have one good rda, one good genesis style tank, and a simple glass/pyrex carto tank
3. only buy good batteries snd charger for the mod
4. buy one extra mech mod as back up
5. learn to DIY e-liquid
if only i wasn't so eager to try everything right away i would have spent 1/4 of what i have spent from feb.2013 to date. =(

but just like a lot of rookies, i kept trying stuff as soon as i can afford it and cost added up fast..

the only way i felt good for spending all those unecessary expenditures was i paid it forward and gave friends set ups to get them started vaping...

I have been constantly upgrading my equipment. I am about at the end of this journey now. Some things are disposable and hopefully those things aren't expensive.

I figure that once I get the equipment that can outlive the cost I can start saving money. I do think I am at the end of the spending spree on gear. I doubt I will ever own a Provari though. I am completely happy with my SVD. I love my Itazte VV/VW3. I bought my son an MVP V2 for his Birthday. I was curious about it and his happiness with the device was one the deciding factors. So I just bought a MVP V2 for myself today! I was lusting after the VTR. The VTR its not for me. I watched reviews today and made the choice of MVP V2. It seems like Innokin took a step back with the new items this year. I like flexibility and more options.

We lost a few cheap tanks this week with juice that cracked them. I also bought glass tanks today after trying MBV Wild Cherry that cracked an Evod tank. We make juice and I got a bunch of new juice from MVB and it wasn't on the list of tank crackers they sent. I do get tired of wasting money on tanks that don't last. Not anymore though. That was my fault no biggie. My lessons to learn I am ok with it. It was fun having a Vaping party today with family.

Hey Taki,
I agree forums are a great place to meet friendly people but hey am not sure about your ? re 'needs'. Seems like there is always something better and more interesting to try and the EJuices are a minefield of 'must try'!!
However congrats on no analogs for over a month - well done.

I look at it this way - all I did was trade one addiction for another sad but true. But I'm still rather new to the vaping world. I've done ok on the juice once I found a site with suitable juice spent half of what I was before and getting a decent amount now. You should wash all new coils, including (especially?) the ones you build yourself. Wick can have residues of sizing on it from the manufacturing process and wire can have residues of oil from the drawing process. Neither of these products were intended for what is essentially a food grade application.

The next likely thing is loops of the coil not touching the wick, though this will normally give a metalic dry taste. You should always check the resistance of coils you make to ensure they are working as expected, and not shorting out or having contact problems.

Hmmm, yup, I feel your pain. Never gave the mail person a second look until I started vaping. But hey, that's better than avoiding eye contact with the clerk "hey, didn't you just buy a carton of those" at the gas station. To save money for vaping supplies, try neglecting chores that need doing. Duct tapes cheap and works well on screens and shoe bottoms Also, since your healthier, put off that health club you've been thinking about paying for, times on your side now And finally, when you've finally got all you need, just consider it for what it is...a financial investment in your future

Ya,ya, but have you thought this through to its conclusion -
Yup, this does seem to be a problem, spending and all. It can kinda pump ya up a bit. I KNOW, I KNOW. But let's have a look on the bright side - The jobs man, the JOBS! Wow are we fueling this economy. If it weren't for us, heaven knows were we'd be. And don't forget, this is money taken from those conglomerates we've been chained to all those years! Yup, You reading ECF, creates JOBS! Another benifit we all need! But wait, there is one more humongous benefit we can all appreciate - Everyday we do this, those two bit, good for nothin, reckless, greedy, heartless, shameless politicians are completly deprived of all those stinkin tax dollars we've been strong armed into giving them...

October will be the first month in 2.6yrs,that I have bought nothing. I did buy a flash light holder @ Lowes for my Provari. In the 2.6 yrs,I never once spent 250.00 in a month, on Vape supplies and 250.00 a month was what I spent on Cigs. Last month I did buy a Provari and that was 200.00. I DIY my juice and have enough supplies to last a bit. I put myself on restriction this month. I think one looks @ the cost of vaping,yet never looked @ the cost of smoking. When you consider the real cost of smoking,health and money,the cost of vaping is cheaper.

It will get cheaper if you can find the setup that satisfies you. And stick with it. I last spent on vaping gear in July and my supplies can still last until the end of this year. The first few months, I did spent a lot; I bought something almost weekly. I have two mechs, a dozen 18650 batts, a quality charger (XTAR wp2), five RDAs, tens of meters of kanthal wire, cotton balls (the cheapest of all) and a lot of DIY juice materials. I spent a lot initially before I was able to build a complete setup that would keep me completely off real cigarettes. It's totally worth it.

These days though, since it's been three months, I can't help but think of buying something new LOL. All the new shiny stuff plus the fact that they're getting cheaper too makes me drool every day. But the fact that what I have still works great for me helps in not getting compelled to storm the vape shop and drop some cash.

Unless you are susceptible to "oooooh, shiny' syndrome, it'll get inexpensive depending on how much you smoked after you find a setup that you enjoy. Good luck and have fun!

I went from "Hey, I should give Vaping a try" to "This is my new hobby" in about a week. I should break even some time in 2017. Of course, I'm not in it to save money, I'm in it to NOT smoke cigarettes.

But in all seriousness, it can be as cheap - or as expensive - as YOU want it to be.

The Tornado was replaced by an MVP2 which was soon backed up by an Itaste 3. Then I figured well I need something with replaceable batteries in case the FDA got really stupid so I started lurking in the Provari and Red sub forums. Dammit, that was dumb and as of today I'm now an owner of a Provari.

In my opinion, you have the perfect set up as far as the Provari for your main APV and the MVP is absolutely the best back up available, bar none. Except for the occasional batteries every half year or so, your done with that......UNLESS you get the "Mod Addiction". A slipery slpe there. I dont have a REO, but they are beloved by many.


Your topper (juice delivery system) can be pricey if your just not sure yet. This can also be fun trying out different types to see what suites you. I have settled on Cartos and IBTanked and keep 7 pre filled with different juices. But you may want to get into an nice RBA and rebuild your own. A great vape and taste by the way and is a very frugal way to vape. Something to think about

I highly suggest diving into DIY juice to complete your journey. This can be expensive at first if you go crazy, but save you the most money at the same time. DIY will also bring you the most satisfaction and will, in my opinion, complete your journey. Most folks dont go this far, but ask any who get into it, its the "end all" in this hobby. There is nothing like waking up and thinking, "hmm, I think I would like a bit of cinnamon Danish with my Starbucks"...walking over to your DIY gear and ten minutes later vaping a fresh made 10mil bottle of juice that cost you less than a dollar and tasting better than any you had ordered online.....with no steeping/aging, because you know how to make it right. Not that there arent juices that need aging, but many do not.
