I'm sorry for your sadness, hooflabablah.
As they say around here, YMMV, meaning that one's experience is highly contextual, influenced by a myriad of incalculable odds. I can't pretend to know exactly how you experience this forum, although a cursory look through your post history shows you did get help, and you did contribute to meaningful conversations.
My own experience, although irrelevant to yours, is quite the opposite. Helpful, nice and knowledgeable people taking time and patiently guiding and explaining things from the most elementary to the most complex. An intent effort from the moderators to keep things clean, and an attempt at building a community of vapers. A place that connects, to some extent, newcomers with veterans, and vapers with suppliers and activists with an obvious intention to provide a fair, level-headed yet regulated environment for all. And quite fun, here and there.
Of course, the expected occasional fights, misunderstandings and plain old meanness happen. It's normal. This interaction, after all, takes place in reality, with all its shortcomings, and between humans, with all their shortcomings; but, overall, this forum seems to have gathered a crowd that's highly above the average and I guess that's all I can ask.
And, yes, sometimes people get over-enthusiastic about convincing the world their choice is the best. It's understandable to a point, but it becomes annoying, I agree. But I think it's just willingness to share a good thing, rather than a desire to put others down.
In fact, let me quote somebody here: "haha, with any hobby, there's gonna be people that are loyal to what works for them". Exactly.
