I'm a little over eight months cigarette free. And, I've spent a LOT more money on vaping than I would've spent on cigarettes, especially since for the last couple of years I was buying my smokes very cheaply.

With the addictive personality many of us have (and/or OCD), making a hobby of it is actually therapeutic and an aid in staying off cigarettes.

You said, "I probably would have been better off just buying cigarettes.". But, that's only true if you find no worth in your lungs. :) Being able to breathe, to taste and smell, to not have a chest full of crud ... priceless!

I did the Green Smoke dance and spent about $300. I thought that would be it and then I found ECF. I've dropped another $350 on an eGo with a lot of various hardware and juice. All in all about $700 in. My analogue habit was about $300 a month. By the end of the year I'm square.

The other night my wife fixed summer squash and zucchini. I realized for the first time in decades they don't taste the same. I think there's a pay off beyond the dollars there somewhere.

I've only been vaping about a week and I already have $200 in two eGo kits, a couple of extra batteries to back up the four that coma in the sets, 5 extra atties, drip tips, DIY kit, and a smapler "welcome to esmoking" kit. Since all that includes over 150ml of juice and 8 flavorings, ect. I still think it's cheap. I was only spending about $2.50 a day on analogs, but how does one put a cost on the damage to health.

Can't measure the benifits, or lack of negitives, when making the switch. Only problem I have is that my wife was not a analog user, but she loves my flavored carts. LOL

and not only are you saving money on not smoking you are saving money on not having to buy air fresheners cause you "is" the air freshener

Yes, I was spending a ton on air fresheners, plus the electric/water/soap to wash my clothes more to get the smell out (even if they were clean), clothings steamers (I have went through 2 in last 2 yrs to freshen clothes) unexpected damage caused in house/car due to cigarette burns (and I was very careful I might add), expensive tooth whitening systems, I could go on...this is just the stuff I am saving on off the top of my head.

I know what OP is saying though....e cigs are so fun and exciting at first, I am spending tons of money too. But realistically, I have only spent a $125 more the first month than I would on cigs and I can't spend much more on juices as I will have too many as they have a shelf life. I have 25 cartos now and that is easily 2 months worth as long as refills go ok. Some I only paid $1/ea for.

I used to spend 13 dollars a day on smokes. Today I spent $60, yesterday $50, last week a total of $175.

HMMM.... I probably would have been better off just buying cigarettes. lol

I used to laugh when signatures said 150 days smoke free. 90 days till break even. Now I understand.

I went into this thinking "OK I'll get a tobacco flavor, puff that, quit analog's in a few weeks, then quit this thing. Now I have (only 2 weeks in) a Blu, 2 complete 510 kits, an eGo, 20 bottles of juice, 5 spare batteries, 2 pcc's, and two orders on the way.

...sigh

I completely relate. I was just saying yesterday that the whole premise for me to quit smoking was the financial issue. Now I have been spending money on juice and hardware and it is still expensive.
My downfall is feeling like I want to try everything that I see people talking about. I definitely have to stay away from the eliquid sub forum. Bad news for me.
I think I will be okay though after I get my 5 shipments next week LOL. I stocked up on some hardware ( in the form of another ego kit with two setups) and carts, case and some more juice.

I have a friend keeping me from buying anything else for a month. I think eventually it will level out.

Swaps and DIY are cool. ;)

DIY IS cool - but it is very, very easy to go overboard their too -

I was thinking just this morning that I had plenty of everything I need - no need to order anything for a month. Then I read a post where someone mentioned a Lorianns flavorings - and I realized I had never tried Lorianns. So a quick visit their website and I ordered 11 flavors and spent $27.

Then I started to mix my new favorite which main ingredient is PA's Granny Smith Apple - and I was almost out. Now I have a lot of PA's other flavors on hand - but I love Granny Smith Apple. Well PA's web site is very inviting - so much so I spent $28.65.

So, yes DIY will save you a lot of money provided you have just the tiniest modicum of self-control. Regretfully I do not :(

I'm 6 months cig free and my experience and sentiment is about the same. I made my own smokes before moving to a pv so my comparitive costs were lower than for someone buying cigarettes over the counter. Still and all I couldn't be happier with my choice. Some "costs" can't be quantified. I just stated pretty much the same in another thread.

Wahahaha! Yes! I came home today after my son's football game, and I'm like, "Wow! It smells awesome in my house!" Granted, I never smoked in my house, but it still smells nice. :)

My boyfriend and I just did the same thing! We went with GreenSmoke and then found ECF. Now We're both looking at KR808's, 501's, and eGo's! Maybe we should just get one of each...and LOTS of juice! :)

I don't care how much I've spent. lol I have enough to make it back and forth to work til next payday, and made sure there was enough food til then too. Then went and ordered yet more stuff. I have 3 packages coming next week!
I'm soooo excited. :)

HERE HERE.. And come on.. being able to thumb you're nose (ok i use a more perverse gesture :)) at those people who have been giving you nasty looks for the last 20 years... Thats "priceless" aint it?

You betch it is. Should have seen the looks I got today outside of a restaurant where we went to dinner. I never laughed so hard. It is easy to tell the non-smokers cause you get that look from them, you know where they think they are better than you then here it comes.....a slow and puzzled look glazes over their face, they see what they think is smoke, but what is that thing in your hand or your mouth? Then they take a couple of steps, scratch their heads, stop and look back again, just to make sure they didn't image it, start to shake their heads and walk away dumbfounded. The analog smokers are always curious and ask.
But your are right, the cost is not my objective, my health is. And you can't put a price on that. Loads of fun too.

I, too, have spent a load of $$$ on vaping supplies in the last month...probably around $325...but, I would have spent $225 (at least) on cigs, and after I get all the goods I ordered today, I'll have 5 eGo batteries, 2 Joye 510's, 4 KR808's, battery adapters, scads of cartomizers (pre-filled KR808's and C2's), 6 atty's, and an a**load of juice that should last me at least three months. I'm good and set for now.

And the way I see it, if a friend wants to try vaping instead of smoking and doesn't have the cash upfront to start or just doesn't know if it's for them, I can loan some of my stuff out. I've already loaned out a KR808 battery, a charger, and some pre-filled cartos to a friend, and she was so happy that she's ordering a kit. :)

Hello Pheisty,
I, too, have loads of stuff(only been vaping 2 months) and am doing the same as you for friends. This is so cool. To see someone want to try it and the looks on their faces when they realize that "hey, this can really work for me".
This site is so great. I am so happy that I have found others who share the same circumstances and lifes trials. I am glad to be here.
