But Why ? If anyone could improve the best, it would be the Jedi Squonk Master :thumb:

Because I'm doing OK with my single coil RM2s. To try duals, I'd have to 1. purchase an atty that is dual coil capable 2. send in a grand for a hair cut and 3. purchase an ohm meter. (I'm currently using a provari) that would cost me around $100 initially. Then, if what you guys say is true.... I would no longer be satisfied with all my current setups. Which would mean I'd have to spend more money. I've got too much money tied up in all the stuff I have right now... It would completely disrupt my whole vape world lol.

I've spent years climbing the vape ladder... dripping in attys, cartomizers.. carto tanks.. genesis.. kayfuns..510s..egos.. 3.7 box mods..provari's..mechs.. and now this year, REOs. I'm tempted, I've been looking at the bf odins. But to start a new chapter would be um... costly.

Unless you sold some of the things you no longer use.....

I've thought about that... but I use everything. I've a feeling I'll give in to temptation before too much longer

You could also buy a cheap dripper to dual coil and run it on one of your other mods, just to see if it's something you fancy.

That's what i did to begin with and only then did i go full out for bottom fed dual (and more if you're brave/stupid) capable atties. It's the tinkering and hobby aspect of it i suppose. You can go mad for buying things, but only now am i breaking even!

Or...you could go the route I'm going. I've ordered the LP/SL Grand and RM5 with the intention of if I don't like it, it goes to the classies. However, if I do like it then it stays. And if I really like it, I've got two 'Classic' Grands to consider upgrading.

If you "really like" it.. would you mind if I took a drive out to Monroe and looked it over?

When I started wondering if it was finally time to dip my toes in the REO world.. I bought a RM2 to drip on to see if I might like it. I figured if it was "meh"... I could sell it. Needless to say... it wasn't "meh"

Excellent! My parents were long distance haulers before they retired. You get your new Reo and see how you like it and let me know a good time. I'm free most weekends. And I'll bring these :D

Is it still squonkable with a haircut? Those LP minis look adorable...would not know the first thing to top it with though...LOL bottom feeders, a whole new experience.

Sorry Papa...I shouldn't be asking this in your thread....no disrespect intended.

When does your new tank arrive? Did you order 30g?

Of course it is - squonking is the entire ethos of a Reo. Fill a bottle, no fuss.

Some people will use an o-ring under the atty, but that's really more to do with directing the airhole away from one's face rather than worrying about leaking.

The haircut means you can use a wider variety of atties on it, as long as you can get them to bottom feed.

The 'Classic' Reos, as Rob calls them, had too deep a recess for the catch cup top accommodate the wider based RBA's that have come out on the Market, so Rob created the LP Grand/ LP Mini. I wish I had a Picture of both styles to show, but at this time I do not. Look closely at the squared area on top of the Reos, where the attachment screws in. The LP (Low Profile) Reos has a lowered area here. Getting a 'Haircut ' refers to sending the Reos back to Rob, who is outstanding in his customer service, where Rob will mill down the older, taller catch cup area to the same height as the newer LP's. Along with a contact rebuild kit, older Grand and Mini can be refitted for newer RBA's and sub-ohming.
And, no intrusion committed, Bossnorma. Any thread I am involved in is open for all. My new LP Grand and RM5 RBA is due to arrive early this week.

Thanks Papa...I did check them out on Reosmods and I see the difference. So, I guess when I get some more mod money (used to be mad money but now....) I would be aiming for the LP styles for more topper options.

quite. i could not advise anyone to get a 'standard' Reo any more. And if they bought one from the classies etc then they could decide for themselves how to use it.

If you only use a single coil atty and it fits in it - there's a sticky that lists them on the front page of this forum, cool.

If you are greedier than that, want that extra versatility then LP is the way to go.
Consider this: nothing about an atty on a Reo stops you dripping on it if that's what you like.
If you lose your bottle of juice, you can run a tank on a LP Reo as long as it has a 510!

My black grand was best man at my wedding - ok, that was an exaggeration, but you get the idea!

Anyone know how to go about getting one milled down? Is it something easy to do with household tools or is it best to send it to Maine? If it needs to go to Maine, how is that facilitated... send Rob a message? I might as well send both of mine in. I hate to be without them for a week but the woodvil will do nicely til they get home. The RM2s might look a little funny on them but I also use Kayfuns and the above reminder that if milled down, they can be used on them if I want is reason enough for me to trim their hair.

Plus there would be no excuse not to get a dual coil atty later on...

Since you've got a woody to get you through it, I'd suggest PM'ing Rob to set up an appointment at the spa in Maine. There are some good threads in here about peeps doing the deed themselves with everything from flat hand files to industrial shop equipment, but unless either money or pride is too high a price for you, I'd get the modmaster to perform the surgery.

But... um.. a kayfun on a reo? It would work, I suppose (but kinda like disabling the electric motor on a hybrid car).

Thanks! Yep..a kayfun on a REO. The REO is a mech and I like to use kayfuns on mechs too. I like multitaskers. But if my REOs will run my kayfuns... I won't have much use for the provari's anymore.

Vape Mail ! My new Toys arrived ! Woo Hoo !
Super X was right, this is a Lung Hitter's Mod. Trying to M-T-L vape this device is a waste of time and money. I personally set up two 2.4 ohm coils (1.2 ohm total) and am currently running the RM5 at one to one and a half turns open. Best Flavor I have found yet. Two to two and a half turns open seems eerily familiar to the RM2 for flavor, only a lot more vapor. Wide Open is for Cloud Chasing, but I can fill the room with a single vape. I prefer the one to one and a half turns open for the Flavor !
However, over tightening the post screws can snap the 29g wire I am using in half. Juice seem to 'weep' from the Variable Air Flow ring, and I don't think this RBA drains as well as the RM2. These last issues could be due to coil placement or vaping habits, so I'll reserve judgment there.
This is truly another Quality Device from the Jedi Squonk Master. A different kind of PV, one designed for Power Vaping to say the least.....
