I mixed 5 drops of ECX in 10 ml of base and nuked it for the very first time in my life but could not get any taste. Repeated, and let it steep for 24 hours, and still no results. Of course I never had much luck with heat steeping tobaccos anyway, including with a crockpot. Just wondering why we are experiencing different results doing the same thing. BTW it can not be my taste buds since as far as I know they are just fine....

I'm thinking the ECX might be more diluted than the Rustica so you might need to add more. There's always a possibility you got a bad batch as well. My last bottle of TFA Ry4D from WL tasted like pg with added sweetener and a little something else sort of carmelish but weak.

If you put a drop on you finger and taste it, does it taste like it should be nice and strong?

This is the same ECX product I've been using with good results for about a month. The difference this time is I tried nuking it just so I wouldn't have to wait for a 2-3 week steep. Guess I am different when it comes to steeping. This flavor is so good, it's worth the wait anyway. Will wait another couple of days to see if there is any improvement. Will post the result.

Maybe 8 seconds was too long??? Mine was in a tall, skinny 10mls that originally held a flavor from RTS. I do remember it being pretty hot. I think I'll try 4 seconds next time and see how that works. I doubt overheating is the answer but it's all I can think of at the moment.

I touched it very carefully after the 8 sec cycle and it didn't burn my hand. It felt like 185 degrees max. One cause of my problem might be the high VG content of the juice - 80%. It always takes longer to steep. What % was yours?

JD is mixing the Samara nicotiana rustica TA, which is like a tar when you get it and requires heat to dissolve in a liquid. I don't think he's heating it to steep it. It's a different TA than the ECX and has a different flavor.

USE PGA or it will seperate.

I love repeating myself:)

I examined my bottle of Rustica again today and for the second day running there was tiny specks on the glass where it had separated out again. After lots and lots of shaking (no heat), they pretty much disappeared.

I'm mostly dripping my mixes so this will be ok for me, but for anyone fixing to try this, the pga looks like the way to go.

I was making 10% solution with the Rustica paste and using 80% vg and 20% distilled water. It's pretty strong and 1% is plenty to bump another flavor. I haven't tried it yet but I'd think 3% would be plenty strong for stand a lone.

Yeah I'd say 1% would be great as an add on. I even like it by itself at that % but it's a tad on the light side. The mix I am having trouble with is 1.25%. Time will tell whether it's good enough by itself.

I am barely beginning to taste some flavor in the freshly made juice that I nuked three days ago. Still has a long way to go, perhaps another week. Amazing how people are different in terms of their experience with steeping. Like I mentioned before, I have never had much luck with heat steeping tobaccos. It helps a bit, but I still require a natural steep of about a week or two before the juice tastes right. Either I am weird, or else the rest of the world is !!

My bullcity order showed up yesterday and I tried 1 drop of the virginia TA in a bottle of turkish with maybe 10 ml left in it just to give it a try. Gotta say it did add bottom to the flavor. Can almost taste ash and it reminds me of the actual taste of a burning cigarette. I believe in the future 2 drops to 30 ml will be more appropriate but so far, I like.
For those who have used tobacco absolutes for a while now, how does it do with age? Does the taste get stronger or stay about the same after a long steep?

I mix my TA pretty strong and find over time it melds and blends in with other flavorings nicely. I guess you can say it will mellow over time but I think melding or blending with a primary tobacco to bring out the primary tobaccos essence would be more of a correct term.

A lot of chemically produced tobacco flavors are just that "Chemical and artifical" tasting. Adding TA (real tobacco essence) will make these flavors taste more like true tobacco thus bringing out that "true tobacco essence". If you are not accomplishing that by adding TA to your primary tobacco flavoring then TA for you may be futile and you may want to try a new primary tobacco flavor.

Good to know. About the "chemical and artificial", a good case in point for me would be TFA Dk Tobacco. Not my favorite by itself, but add a couple drops of TA and I'm really liking it.

I have TBA from MFS.
I used it as a standalone flavoring in a 50/50 mix.
15 drops in a 20ml bottle, 36 drops in a 50ml bottle.
Small bottle is about 6mg nic, lg bottle is 10mg.
Awesome taste, very close to a real smoke IMO
Sounds pretty strong but tastes good to me, using a subtank mini and an aerotank

I just finished a tank of it in record time and am on my second tank now. The juice I put the drops in was a turkish tobacco flavor and the tobacco absolute really set it off nicely. Before it was ok but kinda "eh' if you know what I mean. One of those you can take or leave type of flavors. I dont taste ash anymore but a deep essence to the flavor.

Took two 5ml samples of 50/50 mixture and added 2 drops of Virgina TA to one and 2 drops of Garuda TA to the other. Both are Inawera. The Garuda I had to add an additional two drops to it to have some flavor. The flavor I am getting from the Garuda reminds me of exhaling smoke from a cigarette. I dont feel its a stand alone flavor but would be a great enhancement flavor for a tobacco mixture. I added one drop to @ 3ml of my usual tobacco mixture with Capella Smooth and it made the flavor taste like fresh tobacco leaves that was still damp from drying on the inhale and smoky on the exhale.
The virgina TA has more of an ash flavor to me but in light quantities, I find it enjoyable. Not at all like the over powering ashtray taste of some tobacco's I encountered. Two drops in 5mg PG/VG is a bit weak but two drops in 10 mg of a premixed recipe batch of turkish tobacco flavor changed the entire flavor profile and to me added body to the vape.
Sadly I wont be able to try the rustica tobacco absolute anytime soon. I received an email earlier that my order is delayed because the shipment they received isnt up to their standards. I am glad they have good quality control but would love to give this a try now that I tried others.

Are you referring to the Botanical company? Try ECX. They are just as good - if not better, now that Samara is not up to par. I also read above that MFS carries it.

It's completely different then anything you'll get elseware and worth the wait. You should take the notice that "they will not ship a sub par product" to mean that this company takes there products very seriously and stands behind there product. I have been buying it from them for 2 years and have never been disappointed.

@ Evchanger

To say "now that Samara is not up to par." is unfair if you've never even delt with them. It makes them sound like they are now selling inferiour products and don't really care. This has never ever been the case.
