To say "now that Samara is not up to par." is unfair if you've never even delt with them. It makes them sound like they are now selling inferiour products and don't really care. This has never ever been the case.

Oh no, I wasn't referring to the company as a whole - just the batch they said was not up to par. Should have said "Samara's", not "Samara." In fact I was getting ready to place my own order just to compare with ECX. Don't know why, since I already like the ECX ... Have anyone actually tried the ECX to say which is better? I think they are both Rustica.

.......... I think they are both Rustica.

If they're the same thing the price would be better from ECX.

Edit: From Samara: Latin Binomial: Nicotaina rustica
From ECX: Botanical Name: Nicotania tabacum

From the net:
Nicotiana rustica is the species of tobacco that is native to North America, unlike the larger leaved, highly commercialized variety, Nicotiana tobacum. N. Rustica also has the distinction of being universally regarded by both North and South American natives as the most sacred of all herbs. It is used for ceremony, prayer, communing with the Great Spirit, and miscellaneous but relatively minor medicinal uses.

No wonders I've been dreaming more. :D

I think Nicotania tabacum is the main ingredient in Nicotina rustica. Will check with Wiki just to make sure.

Edit: Oops, I was wrong. It seems they are different, one difference being the nicotine content:

Tabacum is cultured tobacco, usually this is Virginia because the longest and most established line of cultured tobacco was started in Virginia.

Rustica is mapacho which actually has more nicotine than cultured tobacco but has very small leaves compared to cultured tobacco.

The taste is completely different.

I guess we'll get to see if Wiki agrees with an old guy who used to work tobacco and knows a couple old things from back then.

Thanks everyone for setting me straight. Now I know why Samara was so much sought after compared to ECX. Any indication when their next batch will become available? I have to have it !!

Edit: Just checked the Samara site and found two conflicting descriptions of the product. The title describes it as Nicotainia Rustica, but down at the bottom it says Nicotiana Tabacum. Now I am really curious to try and see if there is any difference with the one I already have.

On the question of availability, I added it to my basket, and it didn't say out of stock. Maybe Chopdoc could chime in since he actually dealt with Samara.

ECX is a virginia and samara is a rustica. Two totally different taste. Viginia is ashy while rustica is sweeter more pipe like.

Samara is a rustica not a tabacum. Must be a misprint or reprint from another source that they mistakenly used. I've compared tabacum and rustica side by side and instantly saw a huge difference. I prefer the rustica for my sweeter pipe like tobacco mixes and the tabacum when trying to get a drier american cig like taste. They both have there place in the DYI universe it just depends what your after in a finished tobacco taste.

See I am the 1 who is vaping Nude Nicotine's Honey Tobacco (absolute) it is my ADV so I guess I do not want to try the TA from ECX just the 1 from Samara maybe go for a 5ml bottle:p I like sweet:vapor:

I always go small until I'm sure but since you know that you like TA's already then odds are that you'll love it. If you possibly can have some pure grain alcohol and pg for mix down. I used 80% vg and 20% distilled water, and just as Danny and Hoosier warned, it separates back out on me. My Veritas holds about 1ml at a time so I'm fine with it, but might have problems if I tried my kayfun clone. Here's Danny's post on mixdown in case you missed it. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...bsolute-flavor-all-itself-3.html#post15339546

Edit: I don't think he meant to list vg in the base. Base should be PG and PGA 50/50 mixture as he posted here. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...bsolute-flavor-all-itself-8.html#post15390871

I use kayfun and the mixdown I recommend works great with them.

Your clearification

is 100% correct do a 50/50 mix of PG and PGA.

Are you finding it to be a coil clogger?

Not bad at all, and perhaps more importantly, it doesn't seem to change flavor with a light build up. One of my mixes is with Inawera Gold Ducat, Vanilla, and Caramel, along with the Rustica. All three Inawera flavors are light gunkers in their own right, but I can still vape that all day with no flavor change that I can tell. I usually change wicks once a day anyway.
