It's been 7 days. He has three more days to decide, I believe.

This is a bit scary, as from what I understand, if the governor fails to sign it, it still becomes law in California.

From here: Bill Signing Deadlines - StateScape

The governor must sign or veto legislation within 12 days of the day of transmittal, or it becomes law without his/her signature. However, if the 12th day is a Sunday or a holiday, the governor has until the next working day to act.

According to leginfo, it was enrolled and presented to the Governor on Friday 4/22 at 9:30am.

I'm assuming that 4/22 counts as the first day, so 12 days would put the deadline tomorrow (5/3) if I count correctly.

I'm wondering if he's simply going to allow it through without actually signing it as a method of "passive" support. Signing it instigates a press release, showing that he's obviously an enemy to vaping, but just allowing it to ride on through without actually signing it ("Oops, I just forgot!", "Oops, I was busy with other things!") allows some level of political cover.

Or perhaps, I'm just getting jaded after too many hours watching House of Cards.... :)

Well, I've done everything I can do. I emailed when it was first passed, called, and just emailed him again citing the recent UK Physician College report.

Jambi, you're probably right. According to his press releases, he has signed legislation as late as this past Friday, so obviously he's sitting on it. Sigh.....

The first day doesn't count. He has until the 4th.

Thanks, I wasn't sure.

Well he's certainly been busy today, but not with this. Let's see... he attended a peace officer's memorial, wrote a letter to the Governor of Florida, who is visiting CA this week, asking him to stop the silly politics (his words, not mine) and jump on the climate change bandwagon post-haste, and declared this week "Wildfire Awareness Week" (which I'm glad, as I wasn't aware of wildfires until I read the press release).

Oh, how clever he is! He's laying the groundwork for a veto! Careless smoking causes wildfires. Not so vaping. So a stance in favor of vaping is actually a stance against wildfires.

We've been arguing this for a long time. But our legislators remain unimpressed.

Today, instead of vetoing SBX2-5, Governor Moonbeam declared today that May 2016 is "Small Business Month" with a flowery proclamation about how important they are to the State economy.

Well, except any small business in California selling or creating vapor products. They don't count.

The sheer irony of that is somewhat beyond belief.

However, your sardonic wit makes this almost bearable. :)

So much for all this talk about stakeholders at the table. As vapers we are not stakeholders.
Casaa and the other organizations are offered a seat. It's at the folding table with folding
chairs. The kids table. Suzy and Johnny, did you say something? OK,we heard you. Now quiet
down and eat your supper us grown ups have things to discuss.

I thought "Small Business Month" was just the month that they Dream Up More Ways to drive Small Businesses Out of California thru Taxation and Oppressive Regulations?
