You're right there is a lot of new vapers that want the "biggest and best" and jump right into it and don't go through the learning curve and are a disaster waiting to happen. Some of the posts on here make me cringe.

There's also lots of new vapers, like myself, that also want the best vape possible and jump right into it but do it the right way and read and research for endless hours and do it right. I love micro coils. I love sub ohms builds. I love mechanical mods. I love rebuildables. To ME it is a superior vaping experience compared to a vv/vw and a protank.

Instead of being negative and complaining we should educate and enlighten. Yes those "common sense" questions are hard to read sometimes but at least they're on here asking and seeking advice. Can you think of a worse scenario?

Cheers!

Quote Gone Terribly Wrong

I could not agree with you more. I hope my opening didn't sound like a gripe session because that's not where I was trying to go at all. There is nothing wrong with being a noob or being a noob and wanting to sub ohm, just learn what you're doing and do it safely. I love talking people through how to do stuff and helping any way I can. No noob bashing here.

I'm talking about finding a way to get the info to people before they actually come here to ask. For every noob that shows up asking how to sub ohm, who knows how many are trying it without even knowing what ECF is? I guess that's what I'm after. A brainstorm thread on how to get the word out in a proactive way.

"While it might not seem fair to say you can’t show something because of what viewers theoretically might do in response, we draw the line at content that’s intended to incite violence or encourage dangerous, illegal activities that have an inherent risk of serious physical harm or death. .

I think you've discovered the key, Tea.

The Prime Directive has been violated. Primitive cultures have been contaminated with advanced technology. But I understand. What kid wouldn't want to play with a phaser?

Seriously, I am really not for withholding this sort of information from anyone for any reason. I can see not wanting to post specific instructions on how to enrich your own uranium, but stats on sub-ohm vaping should be available to all regardless of experience. Most is basic electronics anyway and that can't be put back in the bottle -- the issue of concern is more personal responsibility, always for that. In a public forum, the free flow of information is important in keeping it alive. Mods on this site do a good job of posting warnings and the way it's set up. If some kid wants to rush right in and blow his fool head off with a toaster and a lamp cord, no warning or restriction is going to stop him.

Just look at some of the people allowed to drive a car or raise a kid for that matter.

I'm a total newb to this board and vaping in general, but I have seen 2 threads today that make me cringe. A "what difference do ohms make" and a " I don't know about ohms but that's OK". No EE here, but I have had a few hours of basic electronics and physics classes and I know DC voltage won't hesitate to tell you when something isn't right in a circuit. Sometimes in a way that is pretty frightening.

Goofing around with a 30 amp DC source isn't for somebody that lacks basic electrical knowledge, ignores safe practices and cuts corners. I think Sawlight has a good idea.

My :2c:

Not a damn thing. As long as there are Rip Tripper videos and the other multitudes of sub ohm coil building videos there will be idiots who just decide on a whim they want to do that. I am not trying to bash Rip Tripper(he's just the flavor of the month in video how to's. What are we going to do try to get a law passed to regulate stupidity? I know it's coming, and it will come. Or something similar to this scenario: 3 children die in fire caused by ecig. Or some jack@$$ will leave his mech laying around with one of these ridiculous builds on it with his trustfire battery that he was told worked just like a sony... You get the idea. We cannot stop it. there is just too many people starting to do this. It is one of the reasons I am getting my Mods lined out. I really believe that if any regulation of devices comes down, it will be on mechs. They are the ones most likely to be abused to the point of compromising safety, so it stands to reason for me. If you find a solution let us know.

Rip Trippers and some other popular YT vapor chuckers have given their audience good safety advice and fair potential danger warnings.

One BnM I have to give respect to is Salt Lake Vapor. I walked in there one day and one of the employees was giving a lesson on how to build coils properly and what the customer needed to know. I'm not talking about at the sales counter. They were at a table in a lounge type area away from everything else. It was pretty cool.

There really seems to be a lot of new vapers on the forum and that is great. They are at the right place to learn a lot about all things vaping. What worries me is that it seems some want to go too fast with advancing to the more technical aspects of vaping without doing the proper amount of research and studying. It seems some just want it handed to them on a silver platter. This "stuff" is not a video game, it is real.
It seems to me that some of the veterans of this forum do not post as much as they did just a month ago. Are we losing them? If so why?

It's not just here. I was at a shop this weekend with a build bar. On two separate occasions some young guy would walk up and start asking questions about dangerous builds and didn't like hearing "no" or "you're going to blow up your battery" as an answer. One of them got very pushy and confrontational. The other just kept asking for more vapor but had no idea what Ohm's Law is. Finally the build guy said to him, "Look, I'm not trying to be mean, but if you try to build that, it's going to be so hot you'll have to take smaller hits and then you'll get LESS vapor." The kid seriously had no idea what he was doing, he was cloud-chasing because his friend had big clouds and he wanted them too.

It's only going to get worse, I think...

I agree it concerns me that people are making them they asking why do I need an ohm reader I am like WTH!! I would never try and build without more knowledge on it and have the proper tools. people who do this are the ones who make it bad for the people who do do it right.

Driving without a seat-belt with a smart-phone in one hand and a taco in the other and ? on the steering wheel isn't the way I'd go about piloting a starship either, but I see a lot of humans who do it. Cali-fornya haz dee craziest drivers!

How about a thread called, "Toaster Elements, Car Batteries & Cadmium-Lined Tanks," for noobs who want to jump right in way over their heads? "Looking for a nuclear-powered chain-reacting mod? -- This thread is for you! We can pressurize tanks at 20 atmospheres and supercool them with liquid nitrogen, or your uncle's old can of rubbing alcohol."

(Note for the Darwin-Impaired: Sarcasm.)

I enjoy helping people out. Some just don't get it though ... you can lead a horse to water but ... Those are the ones that worry me, but you can't force anyone to do what's best for them. Luckily most people do get it.

What to do about it is a very good question though and one I have no idea how to solve.
