@sawlight do I know you from NV. I am crisscross in other places. How are you these days.

Just hit me, I'm slow tonight! Yes, I remember you well now! Yeah, I was on NV for a while, then things kinda went sideways with the Aussie mod and myself, then, well, you kinda get the idea. I decided to take a break from the forums for a while after that fiasco.

As a bystander I felt your pain. I almost took a break from Aussies after that fiasco. :pervy: :p

I tried, but could only do so much, I really did like the place, that's history now, just move forward to other things.

Same here. I stick to a handful of threads but I am a sucker for all the comps here. A great way to win gear to try.
I won a new tesla II box the other week, it is definitely not in my tootle puffing range of 8-10 watts but I am sure I can find someone who vapes at 240Watts

:p:p:p:lol::lol::lol:

I just saw the announcement of the ego one v2. What a pretty tank. I found the v1 so difficult to see my eliquid and it was one of the reasons @gt_1955 created the frank n tank. This looks really smart and similar to the Cubis. I wonder when it will be released.

Hiya sawlight. Glad to see you back around these parts. I can only imagine coming back to vape after a few years (months, even). There is soooooooo much out now, and I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in not knowing half of what's out there!

I tend to stick with what works, and what's good, consistent, and tasty for me. As Krisma so astutely pointed out, there are all kinds of playgrounds out there for all of us, but the comforts of 'home' are not to be denied.

Seems there's been a bit of chatter and a few rants lately over vape styles. So much so, that I've thought perhaps this thread has run its course. As most of you know (or hope you do) it was never started as an "us against them", or an idea to set up camps. Some of you know that I started this thread simply to find out if anyone still vaped the way I did! I found out many do.

JK, your post caused me to pause. You said you "STILL" vape MTL. I wonder... do you intend to change that vape? Do you (as a relative newer vaper) have thoughts that you should or will "progress" to more "advanced" vaping? I'm kurious what you all think.

Hor d'oveuvres fer thought-vres.

Thank you (blush). I rather like it, too. The GMZ, beautiful, the tank, delights, but the tip top of the exquisite drip tip? The Kat's ME-OW!

I've been at this seriously for a little over two years now. I do still have my original cigalike Volcano Magma kit from 2010 (with a guh-zillion cartridges laying around somewhere) It *IS* amazing how the technology has changed. I wandered back to some of the original "Picture of Your Setup" threads, which started around 2011. I would venture to say that much of that gear probably still works (especially the mechanical mods.)

Admittedly, I am somewhat of a "sheeple". I'm also technologically adept (NOT inept :sneaky: ) So, new-fangled gizmos do intrigue me. For the majority of my first full year of vaping, I was kwite kontent with EVOD tanks and VV3s/MVP2s. My "enlightenment" came when I figured out how to rebuild the PT2 heads. I then wanted a little more (even though at the time, I was STILL swearing up and down that I'd never own a mech or I'd never sub-ohm.....) But then I became even more comfortable with all this vaping stuff. I have a very firm grasp of Ohms and Watts Laws. I understand battery limitations. I then started dipping my toes into other facets of vaping.

Since then, I have broadened *MY* horizons because that amuses *ME*. If *YOU* are content with *YOUR* gear, whatever it might be, then VAPE ON :vapor: I would hope that we as a community would band together and be more accepting of each other. Instead of being the societal pariahs that we're made out to be, (we were smokers once, so we are kind of used to being pariahs) we should educate ourselves and others. I FIRMLY believe that vaping, instead of smoking, has vastly improved my health. I don't awaken with a choking cough. My colds do NOT transition to bronchitis. My clothes, car, and home no longer smell like a filthy ashtray.

I already have so many "labels" put upon me, I don't really want or need any more. My vaping styles run the gamut from tootling to klowding. Just simply know me as Dinger.

Fill out the CASAA surveys; respond to your country's Calls to Action. Instead of a "She's right; he's wrong" attitude about vaping, let's band together to keep vaping (in whatever form you prefer) a viable alternative to smoking.

Great post Dinger!!

I, like you can not be satisfied by just vaping the same setup daily. I too need more. The need is more from my inquisitive side than my nicotine habit. It's been a little over 3 1/2 years since my last coffin nail, so the crave for a smoke is looooonngggg gone!! I tootle either in the morning when I first wake up or in the evening when I'm winding the day down. During the day I'm chucking! Full blown! Right now @8am I'm enjoying my coffee with my Russian 91%. I have a 1.4 ohm build @ 14 watts. Nice and relaxing to get the day started. Now once I get into "face the world mode" it will be my Boreas with dual claptons, .5 ohms @ 65 watts! I need to point out that I don't blow clouds in peoples faces. If I'm out in a restaurant or bar I'm conscious of my surroundings. If someone asks me about vaping I try to explain it in the simplest terms, not try to brag about what I know, because quite honestly I'm no where near an expert. Just someone who doesn't smoke anymore and enjoys his new hobby.

So for me it's become a full hobby. DIY my juice, build my coils, build mods. What ever I can learn and do I try. I like using my hands and my mind. This whole argument about which is the right way to vape is going to split us up. Just what the those who want to regulate, tax, and take away from us want. Let's not feed them what they want, but stand united for the RIGHT TO VAPE as WE see fit! I could care less how you vape as long as you never go near another cig for as long as you live!!!

Yes there are the ones who will do the stupidest things to get noticed either intentionally, or for better lack of knowledge. These are the ones that we should be ranting about. Not, well you tootle or you subohm, so your doing it all wrong. We need to stay together and fight the good fight. TOGETHER!!

OK I'm stepping off my soap box now! Back to your regularly scheduled program! :D

    Love my Russian 91%. :thumb:
Ya know, I've always wondered, if it's 91% Russian, what's the other 9%?:D
On a more serious note, what are everyone's thoughts and opinions on which of the KF/Russian style tanks (note I'd probably be looking at EHpro clones if I actually buy anything) is the best flavor chaser tank? Obviously KF v4 added top fill, but it seems like a lot of people prefer the older versions, so thought I'd ask the question.

    Hey bro!

(I think the 91% means that it's 91% of the size of a corresponding kayfun?) :p

I have a couple of clones (2.1 Lite and a 3.1ES.) I have STRUGGLED with getting consistent wicking (but my bane is that I have to drain the juice to disassemble and fix the wicking, so I have become frustrated and don't try all that much.) I keep thinking I'm going to get one back out and play again, but I have so many other beasties that I ENJOY using that I'm not sure how much fight I have in me to keep trying..... At least with what I currently have. I've been toying with the idea of a V3 Mini, but I haven't pulled that trigger yet.

There are those who tout the Orchids. Personally don't have one, so I can't comment, but I think @pufZeppelin and @TrollDragon are a couple who can shed some light for you.

A couple of tips for wicking them, less is more in the KF and Russian. You want the wick to fit loosely through the coil, not tight, it should just slide right through the coil, then stand the ears up and screw on the chamber, cut the ears about 1/8" or so, above the chamber tube. Then wet the wick and use a syringe, or tweezers to "glue" the wick to the floor of the deck. Don't stuff a whole lot in there, just nice and loose. Most people try and pack the wick down in there, this is where the majority of people have problems, too much wick, too much juice, and then it floods out the air hole!
    Try it some time!

@Katdarling I guess I'm not seeing the "us against them" type arguments occurring, though maybe I'm just not spending enough time in the right threads. If it has been happening here I somehow didn't notice.
Personally I know I'm in some undefined category, because I like different styles depending on what I'm doing/the time of day/my mood/the phases of the moon/no reason at all, but I've yet to have someone tell me I shouldn't enjoy any of those different styles. In fact generally I see comments along the lines of "Do whatever works for you"
That said, I happen to like reading through this thread and would miss it, but it is your thread, started a couple threads ago for your own reasons, so I think you need to be the one to decide if it has run it's course. My opinion is that it is still a worthwhile thread, but you shouldn't feel pressured to continue it no matter how many share my opinion.

Personally I think you can't go wrong either way. I think that I prefer my Russians because it was the first topper that I bought when I started to build my own and I'm most familiar with. I think that the flavor from any of them are very much alike. I have Kayfuns (3.1,V4,Plus, and Undead) and Russian 91%'s. To me the flavor on all of them are outstanding but I think it's due to the chimney design. Some are easier to wick, build, and fill then the others. I guess you'd have to weight out what you would work best for you as far as wicking and filling. I also don't think you can go wrong with either EhPro or Tobecco clones of which I have both. My Russians are original and I have not tried a clone of those even though most say they are clones of the Kayfun.

I agree, and disagree, lol! Yes, it should be all about getting off cigs and what works for you, use it!
BUT I have two major problems with the cloud chasers, one is it seems like the majority of them, note I said seems like the majority, I can't prove that, seem to just want to show off and be obnoxious about how big their clouds are and heaven forbid you ask them to chill a bit! "I've got the right to vape in here, so I'm going to vape the way I want to and screw you if you don't like it!" At a cloud comp, great, go for it. At a vape shop, meh, but still tolerable. Trying to eat dinner with the fam, or sitting at a bar and you can't even see the bartender, no thanks.
Second is something that I feared years ago, before it even got this crazy, battery safety! Go spend some time in the new members section, it's scary! "Well my Noisy cricket got hot!" Ok, what's the Ohms of the build on it? "I dunno, my buddy built it, I don't know how." What battery are using, what's the amp rating? "I dunno, dude at the vape shop said they would work fine." So, you don't know the load, you don't know what load the batteries can take, I can't help you much, enjoy your short life of vaping!
Sorry, I'm cynical anymore, everyone wants to be the cool kid blowing the biggest cloud, but don't want to learn anything about how to do it right, much less safely.
    Off my soapbox now.

The novelty if building coils wore off a while back, its now that I have to sit down and build to replace the spent coil or make juice. I liked the kayfuns but they were a hassle to build on sometimes and a bigger hassle to fill so once something simpler to build came along like the subtanks I shelved my kayfuns and now use subtanks just for the ease of building, filling and wicking. I never had any wicking problems with my kayfuns, I just guess I was lucky to find a wicking style that worked and use that same style in my subtank builds and still have no problems. I juice my wicking first then trim before I put the chimney on, do it a few times and you know the length you want. I maybe OCD but I like the wick nice and straight with no rogue hairs sticking out, not pushed into a chamber all jumbled up. I must be doing something right since I haven't heard my wife complain about leaking, dryhits or flooding in the almost 3 years I've been building coils.
