How about a Gus mod to start with. It has a 12.5amp fuse in the top cap for safety, and nice looking.

(8) A Beginner's Guide to Your First Mechanical Mod | E-Cigarette Forum

If you start with an above ohm build in your atty and use a standard mech mod (not a hybrid) using a good 18650 battery you will be in very safe territory and you can cut your teeth there to learn how to clean, etc.
I've read that blog a few times. I like to build in the 1.2 range on SXK KF v5 minis and I've been using LG HG2s mostly. I have a few Samsung 25Rs also but I question their authenticity. My quandary lies mostly in which device to start with.

I really want to branch out into mechs, and I've read up on it a bit, I'm just not sure where to start.
I think owning a mech is a wise choice...

If you want to build a bit lower than the 12.5 Amps in the Gus would allow, I would recommend the new Geek Vape tube kit. I do not have one yet, but it ticks all but one of my boxes...

1. 510 connection (as opposed to hybrid... also available)
2. Lined interior (protects against accidental shorts caused by tears)
3. Recessed button
4. Adequate venting
5. Auto battery adjustment

The only box not checked is a switch lock.

My second choice is the King V2. It does not have a sleeve or optional hybrid top, but it does have a locking recessed switch and 510.

If you DO want safeties, but want the features of the above mentioned mods, consider the Atto or Colibri. Or, get a vaoe safe fuse or kick.

Before I got my first one I read and watched reviews and battery safety videos for like 2 months. I had been building for almost 2 years as well. (You don't need that much time)
I bought a Non Hybrid mech first and a lock ring. I prefer them for the added safety.
Besides battery safety, you need to learn how to build the coil according to your style of vape and the tanks style. There is no adjustments like a VW mod. You can't just bump it up or turn it down.
Here is something you can do before you even buy a mech to practice..... Build on an Rta and use it in Bypass mode on your Regulated mods. It will give you a "sense" of what a mech will hit like and how the volts drop. It will give you a ballpark idea of ohms you want to vape it at. If you normally vape 1.4ohms at 4.4 volts on a regulated mod, you might need to build to a 1.2 ohms on a mech.. you have to play around with it, there are many variables due to your preferences, wire etc.
I would get an authentic mech for your first mod as well. I did for safety reasons didn't want any "unknown cheap parts" in it till I got to understand it a little better.. but that was just my thinking.

Just ordered another Nautilus 2 and a Eleaf Pico to go along with it. Black on Black. VapeNW total $50 includes shipping.. Best deal I've found on line for either the tank or mod. $20 just for the tank..$26 for the mod.
Easy pocket friendly set up for Summer.

Idunno - I see demerits in your future!

She can get a little "Demerit krazy" sometimes. Save 'em up, maybe worth trade-in points somewhere down the line.

It actually ranks quite high in my list of priorities as I find ecf an important part of my life, I have aspergers syndrome so I struggle to socialise & coming on here helps me interact with people more easily :) but yeah she certainly does go demerit crazy hahaha :D

Who's she?

I've wanted one of those since Mad Vapes first came out. They're VERY polarizing... people either love 'em or hate 'em. If you hate yours, I call dibs :)

Boy oh boy. Things must be slow to have the conversation go back to that old 'one button vs multiple buttons' debate!

That looks like it was designed by H.R. Giger.

It was inspired by the works of Giger... there used to be a big ol' story about it on Mad Vapes... Sadly, it's nowhere to be found, now... only came out two years ago...

@The Ocelot - we were discussing the glossy Provi finishes the other night. Here is the Sangria, which I LOVE, but has never left my desk. You'll see one nic up in the crop circles, and three more down on the bottom cap.

The satins (blacks & one black & red) that have done the same route are pristine, and the ZenKotes & satin silvers (Ti & regular) are pretty much impenetrable, so I don't even count them.

So, yeah - the glossy finish? Looks good, but it ain't so tough. Your Purple Princess they are NOT. <3
