For the more part, this is spot on. However, there are a few authentics that DO NOT have a locking mechanism. If locking is important to you (and, honestly, it should be), then double check the specs and avoid those that do not have locks. Off the top of my head, the Broadside, Black Ring 1 and 2, Limitless, and Manhattan do not have locking rings. With the exception of the Manhattan, they have recessed buttons instead. The Manhattan has a protruding button, and relies in very strong magnets...Yaabsolutely
Every mech. mod, which is not a clone - has some sort of a locking mechanism and has battery ventilation - is noob friendly.
It is not about the mech. mod. It is about knowing what you're doing. Knowing Ohm's law, knowing not to build super low resistance coils, knowing not to short them, purchasing quality batteries, from reputable vendors, taking care of the battery terminals and sleeve, using an atty whose pos-pin slightly protrudes from its 510 housing and maintaining (polishing/cleaning) the mod's terminals (topcap & switch) which keeps you safe.
