Nope, sorry. Puf beat me to it.PWM.
When you turn on a switch it takes a finite amount of time for the voltage to rise to its peak. If AC, like in most our homes, it then goes down, below an arbitrary neutral point,
and goes an equal distance "down", before coming back up to repeat the cycle. Ergo, Alternating Current.
DC just rises to its peak and stays there, no cycling about. Lets pretend it's too high for comfort.

A simple, inelegant, inefficient brute force way to reduce it is to stand there flipping the switch. The faster you flip the switch, the less time it's actually on. The effective voltage is related to the On time :)

so... what you are trying to say is ; Shawn H. is a " fast switch flipper " hmmmm -- peculiar o_O :sneaky:  :w00t:  (or Peculiar Weird Man)

Im just surprised we haven't seen any in ovation trickle down.

The biggest complaint I have with vaping today is this stand still. I want a device the size of a pen or smaller that lasts all day. Or even half a day. The only thing I've really seen that comes close is he piccoloid and the Gus mod. They're both very expensive and mech.

I'm guessing with salts we can achieve a nicotine delivery system that's satisfying in the size of a cigarette. Or close to. If someone chose to do it.

I do see what you are saying. Aspire put out a little device called the Breeze and it looked interesting enough. Until I saw that it had the same 650 mAh battery capacity as my Zippo sized stealth vape. Blah. Never mind.

Gawd, you guys make it complicated!!!!!

Ya think? ;)

And so, if the new smoker turned vaper comes along and reads the complications. He/she says?

Pwm is popular now with a subset of vapers who want to control it with a dial. But back in the day it was a big deal to get pwm vapes and considered undesirable. Inconsistent power delivery. Now I see people looking for them. Why would anyone want to go back to inconsistent power delivery?

Rant

Also I'm tired of hearing about pseudo mech mods. Either something is a mech or it's not. If it has electronics it's not a mech mod. If you're going to have electronics for safety protection and battery regulation you may as well buy a proper regulated mod since you're still running the risk if things going bad.

One mod that comes to Mind that people seem to really like and continue to call it a mech when it isn't is the noisy cricket 2. If you're running through protection you're not getting the benefits of a mech imo. A mech with a kick is passable
I guess since you can run it without the kick

/rant

Finally - why can't we see battery advancements in sizes other than 18650? Why are 18500 batteries still around 1000mah when they should be more like 2000 at this point based on size. And why don't we have proper 1200-1500mah 18350? Instead now we're seeing people move to 20700 and 26650 which offer about the same mah but have a higher amp draw potential. Stupid direct lung is driving the market.

I think I'm kind of cranky today. It's hot and humid and I can't walk my dog. I've been on Reddit too much too!!

GREAT rant. I've been quietly ranting the same for a LONG time.

It fits my style of mod. Simple, utilitarian, black. I just did post a pic of it in the Front Porch thread. Here's the same pic, with an Arctic V8 on there for TC:

Man, that is S'weeeet!

The problem Is the market is driven by lung hitters. They need more power with more amp draw. So bigger batteries and multiple Battery mods are the answer.

Thumbs, Hools.

I have run into bunches of people that tell me that they tried vaping to quit smoking and it didn't work for them. Almost every single person was using the wrong device. Either a cheap piece of crapola that didn't have enough power to do anything with, or a cloud machine that felt nothing like smoking a cigarette. Because that is what is getting the hype.

I, too, have seen and met these peeps. What a SHAME that this is what WE have done to our industry. I keep asking...... is it us driving the market, or the market driving us.

Well that's a rehash of my last rant. :). I'm
Sick of seeing cloud bro setups pushed to smokers who want to quit. I don't feel it's a good solution or encouraging to sell them a smok Alien kit and 3mg juice.

I think a lot of vapor's forget how little smoke actually comes out of a cigarette inhale. It's not much. Smokers need throat hit and nicotine delivery.

For smokers quitting we need to steer them to simple to use systems that aren't messy and don't require much more than charging. Preferably allowing them to carry no more than two devices in the pocket that can't be fired by accident

To that end the cync and juul are probably the best ways to give someone with no interest in vaping a way to stop smoking.

I'd really like to try the juul. I just won't put $50 into it. It's too expensive to get started for me and for many others.

The cync gets a super bad rap
For no good reason. It's a great pod system with far more selection and options and it's under half the price of a juul. Even the cync probably outputs twice as much vapor as a smoker exhales from a cigarette.

This push to high vg low mg juice is damaging to smokers who want to quit when the employees and forums are filled with ignorant people who think hats the only way to vape and or
Discount how difficult
It is to stop
Smoking.

The 45 mg pods are the perfect answer for quitters imo. If you want to get slightly more advanced Icare go and 45 mg juice

But how available is that stuff. Not very. It's even getting difficult to buy juice over 6mg and under 80% vg.

Once again, rant kudos, Hools.

I don't have any idea if podmods are the answer for the new vaper. I actually wouldn't suggest one, but were it the only choice between it and a hi VG mega hitting 2700 watt triple double battery mod, yeah, I suppose I would.

My hope is for reason to prevail so that we can actually HAVE these discussions in the upcoming years, and that we CAN actually recommend vape gear for the smoker to vaper.

Right now, as I see it, it's a me-vape generation, from the Toots to the Clouds.

Sadly she sighed.

What? It's only Tuesday???

Come On Weekend! 4 days off, birthday shenanigans and a new mod for me! And incoming vape mail, kayfun bases and drip tips, expected over the next few days. Another doggy and replacement tanks on the boat but I won't see those for a few weeks.

 They'll be some misbehaving happening this weekend.

I was just looking through the permissions in Google Chrome and discovered that the camera and microphone are enabled by default with permissions for web sites to use. I suppose any web site could take your picture or eavesdrop on you.

I turned them off in preferences. Maybe it's not an issue, but mine's off.
