When I talk vaping styles I like to clearly define what I mean by MTL and what attributes constitute that style for me:

MTL attributes:

• Simple single wire coils of 26 gauge or smaller
• Above 1 ohm builds
• Airflow coming from below coil with a 2 mm max path from AFC ring to inlet below coil (prefer smaller)
• Small/tight deck
• Short/tight chimney
• Produces excellent flavor

I agree with most of the attributes. A question. How would you class the smok spirals plus tank? I'm a newb to this. I would class this a mtl. Or am I mistaken?

Hey there, welcome to the thread

I don't know that tank very well, my descriptions above are mostly in the context of an RTA but can definitely apply to clearomizers also. An RTA is a rebuildable tank atomizer and a clearomizer is a tank that takes a pre-built coil from a manufacturer.

For clearomizers, I am a big fan of the Nautilus coil. This coil fits several excellent MTL devices:

• Nautilus mini
• Nautilus full size
• Nautilus 2
• Kabuki
• Vika Fantasy
• Cleito mini
• Aspire Plato
• Triton mini
• Aspire K3
• Billet box comfort bridge

So, as you see, there are many devices that can take the coil which, IMO, makes it perhaps the most versatile MTL drop in coil available, as well as a very flavorful coil by many users opinion. Not the easiest to rebuild but can be done.

Looking at the Smok tank you listed I would say this is more geared towards DL/sub-ohm vaping. The drop in coils are .6 and .3 ohm coils. There is an RBA for rebuilds but an above ohm coil is probably not what this tank is designed for but having never used it I can't speak definitively.

Im 98% there but prefer a .8 ohm coil in my Kompact Kayfun (KK)

For me mouth to lung simply means draw the vapor into my mouth, then when filled, draw into my lungs.

Nothing to do with build, watts, volts, ohm.

This is what I think of as well. And then I think of MTL hardware as anything that allows me to do this conveniently.

Hmm. Well after looking through these MTL responses I started playing around with my Naughty Quad Flex. I have a single coil at 0.75 Ohms doing 20 Watts, in RDTA mode, using the cap with bottom airflow slots closed much of the way down for a tight draw. I'm using a Strawberry Lemonade 80/20 @ 6 nic juice. It's very sweet and flavorful. So does this pass the official rigorous specifications for a mouth-to-lung vape?
