Beautiful little creatures.

BTW you don't need to put red food color in the nectar. And just in case you're new at hummer feeding, here something I wrote and posted years ago during my years as a licensed wild bird rehabilitator when I raised and released many hummers:

"Depending on which part of the U.S. you live in hummingbirds should be in your area sometime between March and May so here is hummingbird feeding 101:

1. The formula is one part sugar ( not honey) to four parts hot water. You don't need to add food color.
2. The formula must be replaced every 3-4 days if the temperature is above 80 degrees. That's because at higher temps the formula can ferment.
3. Before refilling the feeder wash it with hot water and soap and rinse it well. The feeder can be soaked in a 10% bleach solution if molds grows on it. Be sure to rinse well.
4. The feeders can stay up until all hummers have left the area in the fall. It's not true that leaving the feeders up will stop them from migrating.
5. Please share this.

By the way if anyone is trying to attract hummers and hasn't seen any in the neighborhood, attach a big red plastic flower above the feeder or a large red plastic ribbon (plastic so it won't deteriorate in the rain). These often make it easier for hummers passing through to find the feeder."

Yes, it seems that the hurricane will hit strong. I have friends and a uncle in Tampa and are very scared.
Since this is the first time I see you here, welcome and so glad to hear the earthquake didn't cause as much damage as it could have. Stay safe.

Just leaving the Diamondbacks game now. Had a great time with the kids. Snuck out to the smokers patio once, what a pain in the ..... Not that I paid a whit of attention to the game but apparently we broke some winning streak. Yeah, sports aren't my thing but I'm always willing to go to family events with the kids. Especially if there's beer.

She's a 365'er...She's sitting in a Lemon Tree about 20 feet from the feeder...It's kind'a like her personal Bar & Grill...Any unsuspecting bug crawling on a branch is an instant snack...When I change the feeder she screams bloody murder..."Hurry Up Already"...I've got a Little Capiz Shell Turtle Ornament in my Kitchen window and every now and again she gives it the eye...LOL...And the color is unnecessary(Blue/Green/Yellow/Red)but for me to see it getting low as I change it frequently...Gregarious Little Bird...

Once again for the slow kid in the back of the bus please. When you say 1 part sugar to four parts hot water, you have solids and liquids. So 1 cup sugar to 4 cups water?

I have something to say this morning... Shocker. :D I got all ready a few days ago to make some e-juice, only to find I had lost my syringes (I probably washed them and left them in the dishrack and the husband put them somewhere.) It was a make-it-work moment, and oh my gosh, between using baking gear, trying to convert things from ml to drops where I had to? Dang it, I'm mixing by weight in the future.... My only consolation was my mix DID end up very closely approximating the target amount I was going for, but I still felt like a mad scientist by the end of it I have a super precise scale and I'm going to use THAT in the future, LOL. I was a little worried about vaping it, but I really wanted some new flavorings, so after a few days steeping, I hesitantly poured my e-juice into my tank.

Pomegranate/peach (FA) is delicious! I was freaking out about how cloudy it was and actually added in some lower nic storebought (you try counting out 54 drops of VG nic in a dropper that you aren't even sure how accurate it is) and then the husband emerged from his cave, and complained about how cloudy it was... I found out I had accidentally moved my wattage from 7 to 11.5 (duh, but it was early a.m....) I was wondering about the clouds myself.

Peach and pomegranate is great! Not too sweet, the flavors play well together, but my takeaway was I ended up feeling like a Mad Scientist, and also I really need to TURN OFF my mod before I change batteries with my neoprene sleeve... Steampunk, sometimes I love to hate you... If I forget, bad things happen. Higher wattage definitely equals more nic, I was wondering if I'd OD myself. So far, all seems far more well than it has any right to be, and since I haven't used too many fruit flavors before, I was pleased.... But, don't mix the way I did, it was really, really stressful and a bit messy....

We get hummingbirds naturally in Tucson... We also get what look like giant wasps that travel at about the same rate of speed so it's a little hard for me to tell if I should be delighted, or appalled whenever I catch sight of one, at first. Those wasp things are... I don't even know if they sting, but they sure look like it. My husband said he saw one eating a tarantula once, so I'm assuming they do, and I'm glad I'm fairly unobservant sometimes, I hardly ever catch sight of that kind of.... well, animal kingdom adventures. :) THANK GOD.

But, my husband killed the packrat! Loitering around with the pellet rifle wasn't working, so he baited a rat-trap with peanut butter and there it was, looking dead. I hope its last coherent thought was, "This tastes so much better than jolly ranchers," and I'm also glad I wasn't up first, since one of my new recent get up things is to take out the garbage (super senses, I both love and hate you,,) I was glad the husband was up first, he looked at me, barefoot (I know, I know) and said, "Watch out for the packrat!"

RIP packrat, I will miss it chewing on the house in the dead of night. I asked the husband if he'd bury it next to our dog, but he said, "No, YOU can bury it next to the dog if you so desire...." He re-baited the trap, so if there isn't a family of them, I'm going to have to put my slippers on in the mornings now, I don't want to step on a rattrap while waking up....

Speaking of wasps, my .... hurts.

Out baling hay decided to stop for a break in the shade under a mesquite.
Walked to the pickup to stretch my legs get another bottle of water, fill my kabuki & change the battery in the radius.
Got back started tractor engaged pto got back up to speed made it about 50 feet then noticed I sat on 3 yellow jackets that were taking a break of their own on the seat.
All these years never knew they could sting through blue jeans.
