I'm not ready to build Clapton coils. But I am really curious to see what they are like

In my opinion (and it's not worth much) i find claptons not worth the hassle. I normally vape 1 - 1.5 ohms in a mech (roughly 9-18 watts, depending on my mod and battery voltage), but sometimes I want "clouds bro" and I find parallel coils more flavorful, easier to build, and better flavor. as always, YMMV.

I just can't justify paying $100 for a new kayfun when I am using all of my extra money to buy nic and devices. Is there a decent RBA for under $30? Or is it just that good RBAs are spendy?

I'm not crazy about spending that much on one tank either so my approach has been to buy a clone first (usually SXK, Shenray or Tobeco) and test the waters. If I really like it, I will buy the authentic figuring that the authentic can only get better. There are a few RTA type tanks that are in the $20-$30 range that are MTL-able and those I will buy straight out.

SXK Kayfun mini v3 is $22 at FT, there is also a mini v3 plus (shorter and girthier ), Origen Little 16 mm $10.
Digiflavor Siren $25 or so, Cthulhu MTL at about $30.

they RUN - AUTO WATTS - meaning they decide what to output by what OHMS they read from your topper...

you have no control other than changing out your coil Ω

I have a friend who has a couple Cool Fire 4's and I replaced the battery's in both of those about a year ago I'd say. I put LG HE2's in them and they are still kickin like they were brand new. I would say it is worth it if the mod is something that will last you a good while.

My job had me driving all over place though. Today I was in Terre Haute, Sullivan, Attica, and bloomington...

Like Petro, I'm not much with Clapton coils. I have a couple of spools, but I reach for 26 or 28g NiCr or Kanthal for most of my builds these days.

@ChelsB - another nice, easy, inexpensive topper is the Wotofo Serpent Mini. Single coil, top-fill. One of my preferred toppers. Check Vapecrawler - you can likely find this for less than $20.
