I have both the Merlin and Merlin mini. They are indeed very nice but when trying the MTL side of that proposition, there is something that defies description missing. I couldn't tell you why but it is either too hot or lackluster, and I keep going back to the kayfun mini v3. I feel the Merlins really shine in the DL area where both vapor production and flavor abund. The Cthulhu in the link is more of a DL tank IMHO, the Cthulhu MTL however is an option since like its counterpart, the Merlin mini, it comes with air flow restriction inserts. Another MTL option is the Digiflavor Siren, I shold be able to tell you more about it in a few weeks, when I receive mine.

@ChelsB regarding wattage of ego/aio/ijust, etc... learn ohms law. Now, I'm not suggesting anyone actually math anything, but knowing the equation and having a calculated handy can answer a lot of questions, keep you safer as you learn to build, and improve the quality of your vape. I use Vape Tool Pro...

Vape Tool Pro - Android Apps on Google Play

Using this app, I can tell you your AIO with a stock .6 ohm coil starts out around 29 watts and falls to around 18 watts before shutting down.

Much of it is in the build, as with any atomizer, Merlins are not the best MTL tank, nor are they the worse, personally I find both the latest Kayfuns lacking, but much like juice, it is subjective. The majority of the MTL folks in the Merlin threads are quite happy with it.

For a straight MTL tank I much prefer Doggystyle, Izzi, or Ubertoot and if you use a reducer the TGT III is also quite nice, Kayfuns are OK, but for me they lack vapor density and flavor is muted, especially compared to the previously mentioned tanks. Some of this can be the juice as well, various flavors do better in different tanks. All quite subjective, and dependent on many things.

That is so true! I used 28g SS coils as a base line, changed to clapton 28g/38g, changed again to fused clapton 28gx2/36g. All that for the Merlins! The Kayfuns.....the K5 is really a tight DL tank unless you like a very loose MTL draw and I don't. The K mini v3, oddly enough, seems to like (or I like??) a straight forward 28g SS 2.5mm ID coil at about 0.8 ohms.

Clone Kayfun are pretty inexpensive at FT and work great. I'm tagging @Two_Bears here so he'll see this post and give you some advice.

IMO he is our resident expert on Kayfun and helped me out a lot when I first joined ECF and had lots of questions.
I'm here.

Yes you can get Kayfun clones at FT cheap as $6 and up to $15.

My favorite Kayfun is the short atty in my avatar. Only 30 mm tall not counting drip tip and 510.

I LOVE mine because if you screw the barrel tightly into the bell cap; you can unscrew the base to rebuild or rewick the coil without dumping the Juice.

I LOVE the little beastie.

I will go to FT and pull some Links and Post them to my blog to make it easy for people to find.

Now to dive in the thread

I figured I was really missing out. Good to know I'm not!
I'm super curious about double coils though
I use simple 26 gauge Kanthal round wire.

I was at a meeting and Mike a friend was vaping and when he saw tge amount of vapor i was putting out he asked to see the resistance and wattage i was using.

I Pressed the fire button showing tge resistance .8 ohms and firing at 10 watts.

He was using 1 ohm resistance and firing at 40 watts and I was generating larger clouds than he was.

He was using 50/50 ejuice, and I was using 70% VG 30% PG.

To my eyes, and that's subjective too, the Doggystyle is very much like the Calyx which is a Phenomenon lite with a slightly larger chamber.

Just goes to show how subjective it is, I didn't care much for either Calix, V1, or V2, another raved about atomizer which was shelved rather quickly. Phenom Lite I liked OK, still have one and use it occasionally. Don't personally find either comparable to the Doggy, The doggy is also extra easy to build/wick and not overly build dependent to produce great results. I'm also partial to smaller atomizers, lots of options for the Kayfun in that category, and still have way to many bits and pieces around.

If I had to choose between the KF5, and the 3 Mini it is definitely the Mini, but again, so many variables to preference.

My most commonly used wire is .26g 316L, billowy clouds are not my preference, never has been, flavor is definitely king for me.

I just got the Doggystyle today. First impressions are this is a great vape. Easy build, great flavor and very small with a decent capacity. I also like how simple it is. I still love my Kayfun v5 with the mtl kit. Both are great mtl Rta's that compliment each other in there own way.

How much is that Doggy in the window. Or, which one, and from the FT?
I got mine from 3fvape, but FT has them as well. I got the SJMY with two spare tanks and a drip tip for i think $22 including an extra 50 cent shipping to Pennsylvania. It arrived from ordering in six days.
