Thanks peeps!!
I did notice the battery is
1 x Avatar 18650 2000mAh Battery +$0.00

So I will be recycling that immediately!
Dude don't mess with unknown batteries.

Are you/were you referring to the ummm, Avatar battery? What IS that.
Avatar...... what the heck is an Avatar batt? A batt that looks like a batt with a picture of a batt on it? Oh my.

Avatar is the battery that joyetech recommends and promotes right on their web site

Mooch also has them rated in his list...

I just got two from TW, I've charged them but not used them , YET

What do you people put your attys in/on while building them to keep them in place? Seems like this would be a lot easier with a stable holding device... something heavy maybe.
I only have Provari mods with P3 connections so I use the base that came with my Kabuki packaging to mount my other P3 attys for rebuilding.
Perfect for the job :)

I've been thinking about this... what if you cut the chimney tube to fit? If I can get my hands on the VVTF V1, I'm going to try it.

ETA: looks like you would lose some juice capacity unless you add a fill hole too: http://m.imgur.com/gallery/n62DTzi

Shortening the chimney would work, there is no loss in volume since the rba makes up the difference in length. The overall size is not changed and the volume is the same. My solution is a little different, I use the glass from another tank. It accommodates the extra length from the rba but the tank volume will remain the same since you can fill only to the height of the chimney. Now that I said it, I have to agree with you, by shortening the chimney, you are decreasing the volume of the fluid you can put in the tank.

So I've been thinking about getting a mech or two for the dark ages. Up till now I had read several posts about them and learned enough to know they require more thought and knowledge than I have before using them since they do not have built-in safety measures the way regulated mods do.

This morning I discovered @Baditude's beginner guide to mechs. The blog does not encourage or discourage the use of mechs. It states the facts in an excellent, well written, clearly explained, illustrated manner, and in my opinion, should be pinned in the new members forum. Thank you Bad.

@ChelsB I believe you expressed an interest in learning about mechs some day - you might want to read this. As for me, after reading it, I decided mechs are not for me.

I decided no mechs for me so I've made a study of what might be involved by depending on regulated devices. I have multiple mods in cold storage that won't be put in serviceee until that's the only working device available. They are likely to work as new when needed except for one teenie weenie caveat. There is some good evicdence that the oled screens, generically, may have only a 10 year shelf life. So years from now i fire up a new in the box pico and the screen is dead, ouch. But don't panic. May be the screen used is generic and will still be available as a spare part. Another fix, there is after market firmware available today for the devices i'm stockpiling that apparently lets you see and adjust settings via a PC. If you have that firmware install it on the device, adjust the settings via the pc and lock the buttons. Either one of those solutions would be adequate for me. A third option is having some simpler regulated devices that don't have an oled screen to go bad. I've read enough about unprotected mech mods. I'm not going there.

While I respect that opinion, a mechanical mod is as safe as you choose to make it.
The only difference is that a regulated mod does for you what you are capable of doing for yourself.

With a mechanical you can use unsafe builds if you choose to be not safe, you can use faux hybrid top caps if you love living on the edge, you can exceed the CDR of your battery if you don't care about your face. You can even forget about locking the switch if you like having a hot pocket.
Common sense tells me that all of the above is pretty easy to avoid.

I didn't express an opinion or say what other people should do, I said what I've chosen to do. At a minimum I want protection from shorts, low voltage, and reverse polarity. Is there one I've forgotten?

David and TwoBee, I'm still unclear as to what this is all about. I would definitely like a link to more info on this. I know you've mentioned this a few times now.

USPS updated their publication 52 last fall, and there has apparently been some concern that it would impact mailing of high % nic. While that may be true for us as individuals, it also provides for mailing it as a consumer product under the ORM-D criteria, so I don't see it as having any impact on us getting it from our regular channels. THEY have to package/label it appropriately. Hard for me to do if I wanted to send you my out of this world mix ;)

And, as ChelsB pointed out, with her recent order of 100 mg nic, that seems to be the case.

This was the mech I really liked (but ended up selling because I like a regulated hit). At those prices though...

Yep. They also have several others at about the same price. Hard to beat for vapoclypse stash!

    I know.

My concern is that I have family members who would press that button until the dayum things vented. Ohms Law, schlom's law...

I guess I could stash them for just me. I'd have to put notes on them in case anything ever happened to me.

(worthy of consideration, and much appreciated)
