I think what I'm getting at is know one is thanking anyone anymore.
Ah... I get it... for me, not seeing their name on the 9 o'clock news with the headline "xxx hospitalized with butns after e-cigarette explodes" is often thanks enough. I understand the common courtesy aspect, but have learned not to expect it... hey, welcome to America, 2017.

I also have a fully loaded snarkinator 9000, and it works as a kind of security blanky/armor...

You're welcome :)

Speaking of fuming and gnashing and common courtesy...

So I see a listing on a local-ish Facebook group for a setup I want at a price that doesn't offend... it's halfway across the statr, though.

I respond to the listing "I'll take it if you can get it to me."

The response is "I am working 6 days a week and can't travel further than X."

To which I reply "Ok... I can meet ya in Y (closer to him than X, and midway) today... your schedule."

Him "This is my only day off and I am busy."

Me *shakes head and walks away*

To recap... I am agreeing to purchase at the asking price, and I am agreeing to meet halfway, and I am agreeing to be reasonable about the scheduling...

Ugh... I guess it just wasn't meant to be...

You should just skip over my posts then. They will drive you crazy.:w00t:

The questions that I find frustrating are the trollish single post new members who never show up again. Seems they are just baiting and not real. I guess it's pretty hard to avoid some of that in a large forum though.

People asking a question that have been answered many times elsewhere doesn't bother me although some members seem to get really ...... off about that. I just put myself in the shoes of a new visitor to ECF and imagine them trying to sift through the massive load of information, and I understand their need to ask.

'zackly.

Enough bad press about vaping without having to worry about the next Darwin Award nominee... (not that "they" would ever talk about banning cell phones because a whole line of 'em went up in smoke using the same battery tech.... :-x )

Yeah, and the board software's search isn't all that robust...

Would that be the same one I'm thinking of? If so, she is sorely missed. Hoping she's OK.

If it is the designer you are thinking of I do miss her. I do have a couple more minis due to arrive on Monday.

I know that when I signed up I was lost. I got some good advice and some not so good advice.

Ha! All the other Grammar Nazi memes I have would not be suitable for Our Lady of Nicotine.

I assumed they were going to get turned over and glazed or frosted on the flat side.

I dunno. Shrug.

You can't beat a Billet Box!

    Yes you can...

Don't know why you'd want to...

While I don't own one so can't speak from personal experience, not only can you beat them as Shawn said, but I hear you can even run them over with a truck, maybe even a tank.;)

Those are the XVO, Uncs. And the tankies we love best are the Egg Rolls in them (pretty much non-leakers for the most part). They CAN be rebuilt, but one can also just use the coils as disposables.

    Helpful yes/no?

    Well . . . Yes & No . . .

"My" Bad . . . I knew it was a "Stick" (since I was "gifted" one in a member contest . . . ), however as you well know by now - I'm old, so very easily forget some of the names of "Stuff" (be it an "iStick" or "XVOStick"), especially given that there are so many "nicknames" for things too . . . Just like "Egg Rolls", which "DP" did mention in his post - I just didn't put 2 & 2 together, since I do not have any and couldn't tell what they were in his picture at all . . .

SO - Although the "Egg Roll" has been mentioned and talked about very often throughout the thread, I am going to have to check them out again and possibly pick-up 1 or 2 soon . . .

    Kat-kovered.

    YEP - And very well too - As Usual . . .

Oh and something special I found for "@Katdarling" to use when sending any of these "love notes" . . . ;)

EDIT: Had to try to fix a few grammar errors and a couple of typos too for @Shawn Hoefer . . . However, that ain't gonna happen too often . . . :pervy: .

Has anyone seen @MikeADore? He hasnt been around for a couple of weeks. I hope it's by choice and everything is ok in his life.

    I've been missing him too
ETA: read more posts and see that he's not MIA. Still miss his posts though

On the spoon-feeding and politeness discussion. I think it's a generational thing. The younger ones grew up with instant gratification and answers thanks to the internet and smart phones and they don't want to look anything up.

Politeness unfortunately is not enforced very much in the younger generations either. For instance, when I was a child, my mother would have tanned my hide if I adressed any adult by their first name. If an adult was a close family friend, a Mr or Mrs was added in front of the first name. Giving your seat to an older person on the bus, or holding open the door at a store was expected. Or introducing one person to another.

You should just skip over my posts then. They will drive you crazy.:w00t:
But you do it for fun just like @Iffy and @garyoa1.
Look at this... L&S asks a question, and can't even punctuate correctly... drives me nuts when people can't punctuate... and bad grammar... ugh... and, don't get me started on obvious misspellings...I mean, I get typos, but... wait... what was the question?

Oh, yeah... a question about questions...

No, I do not get upset unless the questioner refuses to accept said advice and gets abrasive or abusive. Then, I smile, nod, and walk away.

Oh, I fume and gnash internally for a week, but...

I do this because I was once them (not really), and help was provided to me (sorta).

    What? Parentheticals? Yep...

Not really = I am a search bar wizard... if it exists, I can usually find it...

Sorta = when I first came to the forum for advice, I didn't know how to mentally filter the responses. I asked what a decent starter kit would be, and many that answered WAY overshot the mark... Sig 100 with Atlantis... Sig 150 with RDA... point for enthusiasm, I guess...

In another life I was head editor of a peer-reviewed journal. That should tell you how I feel about butchering the language. You would be amazed at what poor grammar and spelling I saw in papers written by medical doctors, PhDs and other college graduates.

I asked a teacher friend recently why this is such an issue and she told me that they are only required to spend a very small amount of time teaching these subjects at schools nowadays and they rely more on spell-checkers.

Wow, and I thought I was thanking people too much! If not, here it is again, thanks to all of you. I can always count on an informed answer to my questions, often with a little humor added in as a bonus!
