My hub reloads ammo but doesn't seem interested in rebuilding coils. I would've thought he'd be a natural and want to do it. But it's only been a week, I should slow down on any expectations!

It takes a certain level of knowledge to reload ammo, that is one of the things that got me interested, that and the fact that practicing for competition shooting required a lot of ammo. You might show him a few pictures of the more intricate coils, just as an aside kinda thing;) When he'll need more vapor, he will be the one to ask.

I'm back from my Friday thru Monday trip to Sioux Fall, SD to visit my daughter and family, and am hopelessly behind in this thread. Ya'll don't let any Grass Grow under you're feet in "Tootle Puffers" do ya. I just got my FT Coppervape Hussar up and going and have to say, it's a real nice Tight MTL vape RTA that can go Restricted Lung for those that lean that way. Ya'll might want to check it out in you're spare time Hussar RTA single coil deck (attack of the clones).

 Always on the search of "The Perfect Double". I have been reloading, mostly for IPSC Competition, since about 1976, now a days, just for leisure time plinking. @brewbear, you're my kind of guy, as vaping and reloading go hand in hand.:thumb::vapor:

I've even started to reload my coils, pull out the used wick, and reload with a new wick, and I have several coils already wound and at the ready to reload any of my atomizers on a seconds notice. It's in the blood VapeLuvr, he'll get the itch soon.

I just love that turn of phrase! Never thought of coils as reloading, but dang it all, you make a lot of sense.

I noticed that on the STM RBA the pre-installed coil only makes contact with 1 side of the screw. Isn't it best practice to wrap the wire around the screw as much as possible?

I usually try to do at least a 1/2 wrap, in the case of those pesky screws with rounded sides I do a full wrap.

It should be OK, as long as that coil is connected securely it will work just as good as wrapping the wire all around the screw. Sometimes you have to wrap all the way around the screw to get a good connection though, like with a screw with a rounded base (like brewbear just posted). I type slow, and read even slower:blush:

I reloaded some PT coils with cotton. Now if I could figure out how to do it with silica.

I still rebuild PT coils from time to time. I always just use rayon with an additional thinner rayon wick on top of the coil
