There are tons of video tutorials on rebuilding these. Here's some...

I use the dual coil heads to rebuild and make ovular coils with two rods stuck together. I tried the zip tie but it was annoying.

I've seen the protank coil rebuilds but didn't no if the no-res wire throws any gotchas in there.

Ft have great welded wires, usually only 3 to 4 of a pack of 100 break, when you coil.
The only thing with making these, is that the wires are thin, so it`s a little fiddely at first. It`s not much room in there, so everything needs to be small.
The biggest challenge is to get enough rayon in the coil, without distorting the coil

I have a success story to share. A good friend who's in his 40s was a 2 PAD for most of his adult life. A few months ago he was diagnosed with COPD and of course his doc told him he had to quit smoking. He tried vaping and I helped him with some decisions, although I couldn't do much because he lives back home in the northern KY area.

It wasn't really easy but I'm happy to say he was able to kick the habit fairly fast and, at his most recent exam, his doc said his breathing has already improved.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have never tried the ready coiled ones, coiling is the least time consuming, and the easiest part of it. Dismanteling , cleaning, and wicking are the parts that take time.
Protank evods and the like are great for when you need something discrete, or someting you are not afraid to loose. If you have nedver tired it, go for it, they give a good vape, and it is nice to have replaceable coils now and then

And, is that a protank single coil or dual coil that you are recoiling there? I believe the NV coils are protank 3 dual coils.

Oh, my clearo history was CE4s to Vivi Nova to Nautilus.. and rebuilt a few of those but cut that crap out when discovered the Kayfun :)

I have used a protank before but always ended up with dry hits and nasty flavor so I didn't put a lot of effort in them since I was getting on very well with my Vivi and then Nautis. I'm pretty sure it was user error as I just didn't put the time into learning how to work with the device and coils.

So, hearing the good reports in this thread and the UK forum it just peeked my interest in maybe playing around with, especially since so cheap and rebuilding this coil looks MUCH more simple than trying to rebuild a Nauti!

Then again, I may just get another Gem and be done with it LOL!!!

Great news Bea.
Toolman - the one in the pictures is a single coil, I have buildt doubles, a bit more fiddely, and they take a lot longer to build, luckily the one I build them for doesen`t like double coil.
I have built a few paralell coils in them for my own use, but, Imo, single coil is good enough.
And you are right, building with these wires, is no different than kanthal, just thinner wire, than I usually use

NV has both, but they appear to put a single coil inside the longer dual coil head body (which is what I do).

That was my understanding also, that they put a single in the dual coil housing.

I'm going to try some dual coils because I think the stock dual coils are better than my single coils builds. Any tips?

I've enjoyed JuiceMafia's Canella. Throw it in the pile for a month or so and it improves, IMO.

Heres another quote from the same movie "If i thought as slowly as you ; i would kill myself "

I once almost died from laughter when someone said, "That boy's so slow, it takes him 2 hours to watch "60 Minutes".

Banana cracks tanks? I've never heard that!

Beware the attack of the bananas...

I've also had clove juice cloud a tank.

You with the Spheroid, and the rest, doesent need a protank, I am with you, another Gem it is :)
I am on shop stop for a while, I used quite a bit of money on vape gear yesterday, so no more for a while.
I just got 2 nautis, from the same friend,I build for, so I think nauti coils are in my future.
Are they ok to build ?

Lil buddy - when I built them I usually coiled and wicked them before installing in the body, and a good pointy tweezers is a must.I remember much swearing and shouting, beffore I got the hang of it
Try a parallell coil instead, much easier to build, and works good

Those guys across the pond say that the naturevape coil in a PT is one of the greatest mtl vapes of all time.. I never was a PT guy so haven't tried but I've been tempted!
I'll have to check these out. What about he stick KFC coils? See below.

Too me everything was a tank till I discovered rdas! But your correct the UK throw around the term too much & the laws suck, I'm just glad that they came up with a way to make tanks bigger.
If my cleito packs in I can get a cleito exo, is 2ml with the new coils but if you use original cleito coils it extends it to 3.5ml cos the coil is taller :)
Is that a new cleito? I see the old and 120 but haven't heard of the exo. The original cleito has stainless steel coils which interest me. The later one does not.

Yes the Mini 3 has a lot more air.

I hope you have better luck than i did.

Pardon my French but i hated the damn thing.

That stupid wall around the build deck was a pain in the back side.

Mine had a weak O ring on DT and a hairline gap between the top and chimney. Which caused my mini V3 to leak like a sieve. Yes it was a $99 plus shipping piece of GARBAGE. So i went back to my $5.43 FT clone of my KFL+ and stayed there.
I'm not a fan of anything kayfun after he lite. I feel the flavor of the 4 and later just isn't up to snuff and the design is overwhelming at best. At worst it's over engineered and way too big.
Yes PT2 got a lot better after i started building and using organic cotton wicks
Interesting. Is the emow tank in the pro tank line ? I saw here were like ten different coil types for the emow I have which I believe say they're protank compatible. I found one of them made with occ and at easily the best head. But it cokes with occ stock. I'll see if I can get s picture of the box if the occ coils that are protabk compatible. They're super cheap.
I'm with you on the "both" part. For some reason if I limit myself to one or the other it's harder for me to avoid smoking, if I maintain a mix of MtL and DL styles I seem to get more satisfaction.

I'm not opposed or saying people shouldn't explore direct lung. I'm saying for a die hard smoker walking into a vape shop for the first time looking to kick smoking and not interested in hobby vaping directing to a sub ohm kit is a mistake. And I still see it being done over recommending a juul or icare go etc. honestly closed system thingns like the juul and cync are probably the best because they aren't fiddly. I'm in the camp who feels vaping should be as easy as lighting a cigarette for those wanting smoking cessation.

Of course people who want to quit will quit. No matter what they use. But most smokers are resigned that quitting is hard and a sub ohm setup isn't going to be a like for like substitute. That's all I'm saying. If they want to get on to sub ohm vaping power to them but if I'm working at a vape shop and I see someone who wants to quit I'm not pointing them at a smok system that hits like a .... for a first setup.

Dual coils are in parallel, to my knowledge? Am I missing something?
