I smoked my last tobacco cigarette on November 13th, 2011 at 8:00pm. That was 2,073 days ago (not that anyone’s counting).

The next day, I picked up a Blu Disposable at Walgreens, and that began my journey in vapeland.

A few months later, I got my very first variable voltage device. It was a Lavatube. It was great. I set the voltage, and the vape changed. There was a problem though. At a point, I was raising the voltage but the vape wasn’t changing. Huh????

I learned that it had an amp limit (“amp limit???”) , and that amp limit was kicking in, keeping my vape just short of where I wanted it to be.

So I ordered a Provari, v2.

Whoa!!!! NIRVANA!!!!!!!!! It listened to me. Just like my preference of manual shift cars, it did what I wanted, when I wanted.

The only small issue I had is that I had to adjust the voltage as my resistance changed. Not a big deal, and I still use the same technology today, via Provari v2.5s.

But VW came around, and I incorporated that too (as have many/most everyone by now). Perfection in that it maintained MY vape, MY way, exactly as I had determined what I needed to no longer smoke.

{Fast forward}

Now I’m watching people change their vape because a vendor told them they must. Basically, they’re setting back to my old Lavatube, and talking about “safe zones” and what-not.

Seriously? NO chance. I’m not changing my vape just because a vendor developed some technology that they’re trying to sell. Technology that, like the amp limit on my old Lavatube, decides that I don’t really want what I’m telling it, but instead it knows better than I.

If the world wants to see me in a Danger Zone, then call me f’n Maverick (or Goose, or whatever).

“I feel the need, the need for SPEED!”

Seriously - I’ve been sitting on my hands for months, and I’m going to explode if I don’t say this now. I’m watching people feeling guilty - about VAPING - and watching others literally shaming them into making them feel guilty.

I’m sorry, folks, but please - get a grip. We’re not smoking any more!

Just because some still very questionable tests showed SOMETHING (we’re not even sure exactly WHAT it means yet, just by the way), doesn’t mean I need to change my vape. Before I’d ever consider doing that, I’d need a LOT more information.

400 degrees, eh? Well, stick it. I’m not smoking, and I know exactly what I need to continue not smoking. NOT my mod, ME.

11 watts is what I want, and 11 watts is what I’ll get. Temperature be dayumed, and I’ll eat a burnt burger too, so there.

There’s a question, actually -

How much in carcinogens were consumed over the 4th of July weekend? Like it or not, that one weekend may (I said, “may!”) dwarf three years worth of vaping at 500 degrees, 600 degrees, or whatever.

I vape at 11 watts. I know this - I need this, and I don’t need anyone telling me that it’s wrong. I won’t judge you, and you shouldn’t judge me.

If you want to vape TC, please do! But if you don’t want to, don’t let anyone shame you into it. As @Katdarling says, “Pass the Kool-Aid?”

Hold mine, please (Kool-Aid). I’m not thirsting for it yet.

Soapbox done. I’m going back to sleep now. Keep it down, will ya’s?

>

Ps: I didn’t freak out at The Great Diacetyl Ruse either. Popcorn Lung, my fat :censored:. Puh-LEASE (smh).

As Kat also once said, “How many of us went to the movies and ordered the GIANT sized buttered popcorn, and ate every last kernel? We should have been dead by the credits rolling!”

Feel better now. I hope so. Good rant ... I'm staying tuned to the temp / bad stuff info being talked about on ECF ... but I'm not ditching my Provari collection and moving strictly to TC ... too much time and $ invested ... plus I'm happy w/ the vape. It satisfies me, that's what counts. And it's simple, I don't got to know nothing 'bout TCR curves, wire characteristics, or any of that techie stuff.

I smoked heavily (2 1/2 ppd) for 45 years. I've been smoke free since Nov. 2011. I just had a pulmonary test and PET scan ... I'm told my lungs are in remarkably good shape considering my history. So kanthal coils and VV or VW vaping isn't leaving my nest any time soon. I'll experiment w/ TC, but feel no compulsion to take it on exclusively.

What he said. ;) I already think I have a foot up just vaping instead of smoking, I'm not playing with TC because anyone has scared me into it. More of a "why not" type feeling.

I *do* skip the buttered popcorn, not into the greasy feeling, but I'll take all the Capella Vanilla Custard V1 I can get.

I was born a poor black child.

No, no, wait... that's the opening to Steve Martin's The Jerk.

I often grt my life story and that one confused.

Grats on being smoke free so long!

I must've missed something as I saw no one HERE saying you must convert or die.

As y'all know, I vape every which way.

I've had that tub of popcorn... all to myself. Gave me popcorn gut and the trots the next day, but I never noticed any issue with my lungs.

And it's not just the 4th... of any month. Stand along the freeway in LA, and the carcinogens are through the roof... oh, and the oxygen level is way down... and carbon monoxide sky high.

I've long said that unless you choose to be a hermit living above the clouds on the sides of Everest, you're inhaling junk that shouldn't be inhaled.

Oddly enough, they're not trying ti ban automobiles... the internal combustion kind. Barbecue grills and briquettes are still readily available... they won't even card ya.

But many got into this with the idea of harm reduction, and it's an idea they take seriously. Maybe too seriously, as they keep reaching for the "this one is .01% better than that one."

While we're ranting about harm reduction and such, the number 2 killer in the US is still readily available and VERY obviously marketed to children. Hypersweetened everything with pictures of colorful rabbits and lovable goofy monsters, and beloved cartoon characters on the side are dragging many Americans into the not-so-gentle grasp of obesity and diabetes. Still don't see the FDA or Congress banning sugar and sucralose and HFCS and Aspartame and dear god, but the list goes on and on and on...

For the record, I'm not against sweeteners. I'm as guilty as most of sneaking more than one ice cream bar, or a second (or third or fourth) piece of pie. Difference is, I'm aware... just as aware of what I am inhaling right now as I take a pull off of my vape...

I quit smoking 5:30 pm, November 24th, 2014. I was in the checkout at Walmart with a prescription for Chantix when I saw Haus by Mistic. That was just 29 days after losing my father to cancer and COPD (and burns - smoking while on oxygen). On his quite literal deathbed he told me "Quit them £×_×€@₩ things before they kill you, too!" I slipped uo twice aftet that... once, the battery dies and I had no backup, and once the coil burnt out and I had no backup. The taste and smell was so foul, I swore I'd never be without a backup again. I think I might have reached that point, maybe, sorta...

So, vape 'em if ya got 'em. Ignore the other guy (or gal). Keep off the stinkies. And, out down that bowl of Fruity COPYRIGHTDMCA or Count Chocula.

I have the same 'why not' attitude. I am finding tat using tc that the coil and cotton stay much cleaner and lasts so far about 3 times longer than using the reg kanthal....to me that's a big plus.

I still use both type of tanks, using some tc in my ego mega tanks plus still using the STM with kanthal coil. I don't feel the need to commit to just one type of coil, just as I don't commit to just one style of vaping, mtl or dl. I do both and it depends on my ejuice and which style that tastes the best to me.

That amp limit thing drove me CRAZY!

Was to protect the chip. Early "models" of the regulating chips couldn't handle a lot of power (amps), so would clamp at a point below where they would burn out. Later chips hiked the power up. and up. and up  But even now, there are still moans about how the nifty latest and greatest 12 18650 mod won't hit it's rated 5KW with a 0.0001 ohm coil. Doh. Amp limit. :)

I feel 10000% better and thats enough of a result to know that I am doing ok.

That, and feedback from dentist, doctor... oh, but we're all anecdotal, not REAL evidence...

he, he ... what spurred the pulmonary test and PET scan was a tiny spot a CAT scan showed on my right lung. It turned out to be nothing of concern.

A friend and pulmonary specialist said to me about it ... "Mike, you could have been walking down the street in the city and inhaled something in the air and 'bam' you've got a mark in your lung. There's so much stuff in our air that can cause things like that".

You really wouldn't be interested. OSHA requires that the only be sold in pairs, so the load is balanced on the spine of the user. So that would mean a duplicate :)

I'm talking about before chips. I'm talking about the early mods that were almost mechs. A momentary switch was the total of the electronics. I think they were just too cheap to use good wire in the switches.

Even those had voltage regulator chips and rudimentary protection circuits.

I studied my behavior patterns in regards to smoking. I put together a plan to stop smoking and then I modified that plan as some things just didn't work and some things worked much better than I expected them to. Basically, I want versatility and utility. I want to be able to mimic through vaping any positive experience that I could possibly have through smoking. When I tried TC it did remind me of smoking on my (real) pipe collection. I don't know if it's the flavor, or the temperature, or the consistency of the vapor. But something just clicked.

Wattage mode IS more straight forward. VV is more straight forward than wattage. Mechs/unregulated are more straight forward than VV.

However, all of those can (and will) lead to a burnt hit.

Hi. When will THAT be, darlin'? I've been at this for a year or two, and never a burnt hit. Perhaps in another 6 or 7 years, I'll find one?

Ever hear the phrase 'curse like a sailor'?

I DID! It was my first attempt at snow and skiis and chair lifts. You know you have to JUMP OFF those things? AND land upright?

I did not. Welp, I DID jump, but not land upright. Every OTHER soul on the lift jumped off........ ON TOP OF ME. It was raining, and it was cold and I was one VERY unhappy camperette.

Swear like a sailor, ya say? OH YEAH. KNOW THAT LANGUAGE WELL!!!

I also have master cretificates for three forms of Reiki and two forms of Seichim. And dont use any of them because i found a healing modality that blows the doors off of Qigong, Reiki, quantum healing, pranic healing etc.

What is that one, TwoB?

You sort...
And, yeah, I needs to do some cleaning up lol
