@Trigster, I usually aim for somewhere around a 1.5Ω coil, though I'm not real finicky if it's off a bit. The 28g kanthal makes it easy for me to get in that range. I have some 30g SS 316L wire that I occasionally use in the CLR coil at around 1.0Ω. I like those, too.

I go from 26g to 30, but 28g kanthal is definitely my go to. @corn flakes, I'm not sure I could even see 32 or 33g wire. Is it hard to work with?

Bloody impossible, the fatter wire doesn't give me the vape I want.

Silver wire, silver base, silver screws. I need to get a good magnifying light.

The hour I spent last night building a Merlin Mini and KFV4 was well worth the 34 cents I saved.

lol...I bought a magnifying light a few months ago but made the mistake of going cheap and not paying close attention. It magnifies OK but has three tiny little LED lights that add nothing. I think I'll wind up getting another but will look for something with a good light this time.

Thank You Both !!!...And especially to you Your Highnessness for the vid you posted last night...Shawn re-building a coil in about 3 minutes...I think even I could do that...

Careful there grasshopper! Shawn has a bit-o-sperience under his belt! He MAKES it look easy. Just be aware that it looks a little easier than it is at the beginning, don't get frustrated. Coils are easy, once you get the hang of it, even I can do it. VapeTool is an Android app. a bit more intuitive than Steam Engine. Steam Engine, a great tool, can get a bit overwhelming. If you plan to TC, then SS wire (316L) is your friend. The advantage is that you can use SS wire in either TC or power mode. Spaced coils are easier than contact coil. 28 and 30 gauge wires will serve you well.

Cotton can't be stuffed into the coil. When wet it expands. Rayon you can stuff more in. It collapses a bit when wet.

For me the hardest part is getting the wicking just right.

Contact coils are the ones where the wires touch each other, spaced coils have a tiny gap between the wire loops.

You do pass it thru the coil, but make sure you have a very slight resistance as you pull it thru. Rayon is a bit more forgiving in that respect.

IF...I was to buy some wire to attempt to build a coil for the TopTank Mini I DO NOT Own(yet)...What gauge wire should I get aiming for about a 1.5ohm coil ???...Never is a very long time...

It gonna be tough to get a 1.5 ohm build using 28 in a kanger RBA(subtank RBA fits the toptank). Your going to have to make a 3.5mm ID coil with 5 wraps and its a tight fit between the posts. I make my wife's clapton builds using 28/34 with a 3.5mmID and it comes out to 1.4ohm. Using 30 gauge would make a smaller coil, less wraps and easily make your 1.5ohm range. I don't know about 29 gauge since I have never used it.
If your going the 28 gauge route then your going to have to thin the tails out using either cotton or rayon cause with a 3.5ID build the tails are going to be massive and thick. The thinning has been described before but I'll repost what to do if you don't know.

edit.... my coils are all spaced, not wide but just barely enough that the wraps don't touch. I don't do micro/contact coils.

Sorry about that, I was being literal. It's Friday and this week has been a very long year for me!
The spaced coils tend to be easier because there are virtually no hot spots (or at least there shouldn't be) and allow for a slightly increased contact area between the coil and the wick.
