Great minds think alike. I asked my vape shop if they could get one for me just this past Friday. I want a siren v2 24mm .

Yay, I set up my Siren V2. I LOVE this tank, wicking was so easy. Decided to start out with one of the coils provided, and may I say that screw setup is FANTASTIC for someone who has a fine motor tremor, it's so much easier to trap the coil. Running it a 17 watts with three airholes open, and it has not leaked or seeped a drop! I got the gunmetal and I love the tank and how nicely it's designed. The vape is fantastic, too. :) I really actually had a great time setting this tank up, it's my new favorite, and now I wish I'd bought another of these instead of the Berserker, I just love the vape... So smooth and flavorful, but I loved the ease of setup, too. This will probably be the RTA that I run for a long time to come, I could even see bringing it out of the house (almost!)

But seriously, my fitness level is embarassingly low -- my treadmill has not seen me in a long long time :blush: I am looking into a beginner weight training regimen... bad knees be damned!
Perhaps the greatest, most thorough book ever written on weight training for the non-drug using person:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/9963916384/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Get it for $10 used. It is extremely long and detailed but packed full of wisdom.

Do you have access to a gym? Machines or free weights? Any experience at all at resistance training?

Walking is perfectly fine as far as weight training if you have bad knees, I mean it's known to be healthy.

I'd also recommend yoga (you can make that crazy cardiovascular with the right kind of yoga, which one probably shouldn't start with) but hey, I have been doing yoga since the age of 18, so I'd probably recommend it to anyone. I credit it with my not having bad anything, (well, except for being toothless, LOL) it really keeps the joints and ligaments in great shape. Yoga IS weight training by the way you use your own bodyweight as the weight, in all sorts of ways..... I like it because you only get as muscular as you weigh, so it's quite proportional.... :)

But, I do an hour and a half of yoga most days except when I'm sick, endorphins are something of an addiction for me.... at least I'm not my sis, she's a marathon runner and also encountering the limitations of age.... I'm 3 years older and have had no injuries.... :)

Bodyweight training has exploded in the last few years for sure and most definitely any weight that you resist is resistance training, be it yoga poses, gymnastic movements, resistance machines or free weights. Your body simply does not know the difference, the only principle that must be followed is progressive overload until you reach the goals that YOU desire.

I personally love the gymnastic rings, especially for chins/pull ups.

Now walking, nah, that is for cardio vascular health and doesn't fall into resistance training.. but definitely good for your health.

Does getting out of bed in the morning count as exercise. I also just went and looked at the treadmill so I should be done for the month.

Yes, I've thought about pull ups, but I really don't want to turn my girly chest into a man chest, LOL, and that is what would have to happen, so I think I'm good. I can barely do 40 "guy" pushups during my 12 sun salutations, the rest of then are the girly ones, and I'm quite fine with that, LOL. The day I do a pull up... though I'm insanely jealous, I just don't have the musculature for it, honestly.

For cardio, biking is the best... I used to bike all day on weekends in HS. I always know I'm gaining weight when I get those gigantic thighs.... That never seems to go away. I gotta say, I still follow the Tour de France, and I wish they'd just make a doping and non-doping league, honestly, and the athletes get to decide for themselves which particular path they will go down, although the French were ECSTATIC when Lance HARMstrong got caught. I always thought that guy was a major douche, but not for doping.

I think doping/non doping leagues would solve a lot of problems.... :)

Thanks for the link  I have a couple of weight training books by Joyce Vedral (dated like me!)

When I was active I was a devout gym enthusiast, had my routine down to a science...30 minutes of cardio to start, then upper or lower body weight and/or circuit training, followed by abs and finally a cool down. Ahhhh, those were the days :thumb: (no knee issues back then). Resistance training? Do you mean bands? Haven't tried those yet :) There are a couple of gyms nearby but I haven't looked into them. I was a member at Bally's for years back in the day but decided that driving to and from was too time consuming. I have 3,5,10 lb hand weights at home, and a treadmill and stationary bike. I've been looking at barbell sets on Amazon - maybe I can convince my hubby to get me an early Christmas gift :D

Oh Anna, I loved walking everywhere, these days its a blessing just to walk the doggie girls. Did I say I have bad knees - they are really really bad, time for total knee replacement bad :nah: Now that I am lighter I may give Yoga a go --- truth be told I tried it when I was heavier & it was disastrous!

Nah, 2 things... pull ups work the back not the chest and not enough testosterone to build a man chest, unless you are on the juice :)

Pull ups are a fantastic strength building exercise and unless a woman is juicing she will never develop the muscle size of a man or have a man chest :)

I can barely do 40 "guy" pushups during my 12 sun salutations, the rest of then are the girly ones, and I'm quite fine with that, LOL. The day I do a pull up... though I'm insanely jealous, I just don't have the musculature for it, honestly.
Absolutely understood and is very common. The only lady I knew who could rep out chins was a former gymnast and, for the record, had a very feminine form.

A good alternative and to build strength is rows. Not nearly as hard as a full pull up.

Big paydays will always lead to PEDs. Follow the money.

Depends on the money involved unfortunately.

Sounds like you have the experience and I use resistance training and weight training interchangeably, sorry for confusion.

I had a Bally's membership for over 20 years so right there with you!

Sounds like you will have to get your knees worked out before getting serious about training, that is a real limiter :(

Yep, I have a good friend who is about to have both knees done at the same time and he has been strengthening with leg extensions and hamstring curls on machine and working his upper body in prep. He was a powerlifter and track and field guy in HS and college and has maintained a great physique and health but genetics and time always come into play for sure. Anything I can help with would be glad to... I have a slight love for fitness :)
