Are some tanks louder than others? I wick all my STM RBAs the same and some are quite loud when pressing the fire button [emoji848]

Might be a small difference in wicking, coiling, or even the height of the coil. Otherwise, identical tanks should be about the same. If no major variances between production runs, or oopsies there. (I had one KF arrive with a metal shaving inside one of the air intakes, it DID make a funny noise! )

So I ordered this silica wick to try to emulate the wicking in the Hohm Skillet’s factory coils (they’re quite spendy so I’m trying to rebuild them). I just want confirmation that this stuff is safe?

Not familiar with those heads, but why not just try to replicate with rayon?

Hmm...vape is okay but not vapes

ECF's Spellchecker...after 11 years...still rejects "vaper"...(obviously, to us, someone who vapes)...

Not used those heads either, but sometimes rayon wicks too good, and they flood, the silica slows that down. Just what I have run into on some of the heads that are not supposed to be able to be rebuilt.

I don’t see rayon working as it is a vertical coil with wick wrapped around it

The rayon seems too difficult to press into a flat, uniform piece to wrap around the coil easily

Just right click on the word, and add to dictionary. :)

Yea...Burnie...I'm guessin' that would work...but I'm so lazy that it's easier for me to just ignore the red line that always appears under the word "vaper"...

I’m assuming it is, otherwise they wouldn’t sell it but you never hear of people using this stuff
$2.58 Rectangle Silica Wick for RDA RTA RBA Rebuildable Atomizers (20-Pack) 20-pack - single rectangle size: 80*50mm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Chels, silica was/is used in today. Lots of people still use it.

When I talk to my sister on the phone, I can always tell when she takes a hit. It's so loud!

@oplholik Nice to see you this morning and glad to hear you're on the mend...Pretty scary stuff...Ya' know...I'd bet'cha some of our 'Wiring Experts' around here would do quite nicely in the MRR World...Splice'in Wire at Light Speed...Building 'Structures' with all those Tiny Doors & Windows...Spending lots'a money on a never ending list of little goodies to be acquired...Where 'Shinyitis' is concerned...MMR's got it covered in Spades !!!

Hope Everybody's Well...I'll Try And Not Be So Much Of Stranger...Best Regards...Trig :)
I was just going to post a “whatever happened to Trigster thread”. Lol. Good to see you.

And I could’ve added it to my phone too! (as I hardly ever visit ecf through my computer). Guess since I was able to type that all out, I can go add it!

I hate the loud ones for when I always take a few puffs in the middle of the night after nature calls. It sounds so loud especially when you’re right next to someone sleeping [emoji4]

I do throw stuff out but I make sure to harvest screws, glass, orings insulators, pins...

So far saving orings has come in really handy
So have I. I think I have gotten rid of more than I have. I do have spare nemmy parts. Almost gave up on another of my nemmys, gave it a good scrubbing, and it is working fine now.

There appears to be a gap between the base and the top of the peak inside of, the slab. If you get that base shoved all the way down in there, the bottom pin should screw up into the threads on the positive. Gently use a pair of padded pliers and you can squeeze that down in there. Remove that center pin screw first.

Aha! The plastic piece isn’t threaded! Just push down first. Thanks!
ETA: all fixed! Thanks, Shawn!

What is the benefit of spaced coils vs non-spaced? What do you prefer and why?
You asking in general, or is this a directed question?

Contact coils retain heat, and reduce the ramp up on subsequent pulls. They are also prone to hot spots and burning the wick at the center.

Spaced coils provide a more stable resistance read, and fewer (if any) hot spots.

Almost exclusively, I run contact coils on my mech and spaced coils on my regulated devices. ALWAYS spaced in TC.
