totally new to vaping and about to give up

VG = Vegetable Glycerin. ejuice often has a mixture of Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerin along with the nicotine and whatever flavorings are added. PG gives a stronger throat hit (that thump you feel to the back of your throat) and carries more flavor but some people, myself included, are sensitive to it. The VG makes nice fluffy dense vapor, while PG by itself makes very little vapor. Going with a juice made of 100% VG drastically reduces any throat hit and if you have a PG sensitivity like I do it's really the best way to go, IMHO.

Thanks for the suggestion! Apparently the ones I bought were 80 pg/20 vg!! I went to another store, they recommended 50/5. Still way too much so he cut it down with vg. Drastic difference!! I now can actually vape it. It still is too much, but I can tolerate it enough to get by until I have the funds to purchase a higher vg. I also ordered a bottom coil clearo, so hopefully that will be better with the wicking issues. Thank you so much!!

I'm using an iclear 16 clearomizer and I hate it. It only produces good flavor right before it gives off a nasty burnt taste. I only get through about a tank and a half before I have to replace the coils, no matter how slow I draw. The vapor is too hot and leaks all the time. I lose about half the juice every tank. The only reason I haven't switched back to cancer sticks is that I have no money.

Before I give up, I'm thinking about getting a kanger evod clearomizer. Any thoughts?? Also, what kind of juice should I get that doesn't burn and sting? Should I just get 0 nic and use patches? I like the way the juice taste in the store, but then I buy them and can't even use them cause I choke and cough till I throw up. HELP!!

I love love love my kanger evod. I've only had it for a couple of days, but I love it...don't know if I mentioned that.

I have had trouble with units as well, went to mini protank 2 and it is working ok. Harder to load juice but seems I don't have to load as often. I am new only 3 months vaping but I enjoy it and now cant stand the smell of cigs. I need advice on liquids that have a good deep flavor and I am still not sure what I like. seem to steer more to spicy to get some flavor. Hope to get good advice from all you pros.

I replaced the I clear 16 that came with my MVP2 with a Pro Tank mini 2 two days after my MVP purchase and haven't looked back since. The airflow could stand to be a little better but it definitely knocked out the craving for a cigarette. I hope you stick with it and get past these hiccups, there's a ton of info to take in and can feel overwhelming at first, but after a little research it should simplify quite a bit.

Happy vaping :)

I'm new to man..but I have done a little research on diff vapes...I went with the new aspire with a 2.5 omh...and I got a glass kerger tank...always went back and got a new juice...I started on tobacco Flavor...but I found I really like the vanillas...I'm using a vanilla custard with 10ml of nicotine...it has been working great for me...I set the cig to about 3.5 to 3.8 v to smoke on...no harsh drag and its smooth and great tasting

Please don't give up! You will feel so accomplished once you find your sweet spot. I switched from my original iclear 16 after 4 days - I didn't have the issues you seem to be having - but I picked up an eVod clearo for 6.99 at my b&m and it works really well for me. I get good flavor and good vapor - and I'm on a budget, so it works for now. I definitely want to try the new nautilus mini next, and then I want to head over to cartotanks after. My nic level is 6mg and I'm not sure on the pg/vg ratio, but it's as smooth as I'd ever ask for. Keep it up - don't give up!

Being a pipe and non-filter smoker, airflow has always been my big bugaboo with vaping until I found these little guys ...

Kanger Airflow Control 2.0 - Mini

Have them on all my mini protanks. Set them wide open and vape away. Before I felt like I was trying to suck a bowling ball through a garden hose.

The 16 does have an iffy rep. But I use the 30S and am right fond of it (not the 30, the 30S, the "S" is important there).

I would definitely try an EVOD. before I switched to Innokin (the VTR), they were my favorite toppers. Still have them and my Twist batteries as "back up" if the VTR went wonky.

Far as coughing so much? Two things...

One is your nicotine level could be too high. Lots of folks like "throat hit" but I never did. Even as a smoker, I liked "smooth". Too high a nic level could irritate your throat and cause coughs.

The other is that as smokers, we're used to a "deep" inhale to draw the smoke into the lungs where the nicotine was absorbed. In vaping, the main absorption of the nic is in the mouth and nasal passages.

You could try "puffing" like, oh, cigar or pipe smoking. Don't do a deep inhale. I know when I first started, if I inhaled vapor like cig smoke, I tried coughing up a lung. Doing a "puffing" thing and not drawing deep worked fine. And I got enough nicotine my smoking plummeted from two packs a day to maybe four to six cigs per day. I mean my first week. A big drop.

Now I can inhale deep as I want and it's no big deal. But never have gone back to that deep, lung inhale. You don't actually pick up much nicotine in the lungs with vapor and lungs don't got no taste buds. :) my inhale is still much more shallow than when I smoked.

I've had one for over a year, but I never could get into it. I bought a lower PG blend today and the guy at the store cut it down with more VG because it was terrible. I couldn't even puff without coughing so hard I threw up. After he cut it down to closer to a 30 pg/70vg, I can vape away. The nic still gives me a throat hit, but not nearly as irritating. I've actually been vaping on and off for a few months now, but I had no clue about anything.

I just ordered one, and I can't wait to get it! I'll keep my i16 for backup though, but I liked the cooler vapor of the bottom coil. I tried the mini protank at the store, and I do like it, but I would like a tighter draw for now since I'm having a hard time not smoking, though it has been 2 days without cigs. Plus, the protank mini is still a little bulky with my batteries. I've been using my ecig off and on for a few months, but I finally got a blend that doesn't kill me every time I vape. Thank goodness for the pros here, or I would have bought a pack today.

You're quite welcome. I don't know if you have a local vape shop that offers 100% VG juice but since finances seem to be an issue I can recommend Mt. Baker Vapor for decent juice at an excellent price. ($7.50 for 30 ml). You can get an additional 10% off if you use this coupon code - vaporfrombaker

They do have a little bit of PG in their flavoring so it's not entirely VG, but the max VG option is pretty darn close, probably something like 95% VG / 5% PG, which I can vape all day with zero issues, even with my sensitivity to PG. I'm glad to hear you're getting the technical stuff with your setup worked out; trying to vape and having your tank refuse to operate properly is damn frustrating, I know. We've all been there at one point or another! :)

Happy vaping!

The local one used to carry 100%, but stopped for some reason. It still leaks, but I can deal with it till I get my other one. The biggest issue was the irritation, which is much better. But they did give me another local store that carries organic vg, so I can cut it down if I need to for the juices I already have. I'll definitely get some of that vg juice though! Thanks again!!

I had this same problem when I first started. I found that it was due to chain vaping. So I bought another set up and switch between them so that one does not get too hot and burn up the coil. ( to be honest, I now have 6 set ups and am thinking of getting equipment so that I can try dripping)

I have a pair of Evod's but have only gone as low as a 50/50 mix. I'm going to try a 100% VG and see how they do. I gotta say, so far the little Evod's are nice, with no leakage and only a little gurgle once in a blue moon. I have a Nautilus mini and MVP2 coming and is "out for delivery" for today. I can't wait to see how that combo stacks up to the Evod's. I've been a vaper for 2 weeks so I'm a newbie.
