I don't have a troll rda but my favorite 26g build is 3 strands of 26g straightened, twisted in the opposite direction and then spiraled in the original direction. It gives me awesome warm flavor. Only down side is the ramp up time is slow because it has a lot of mass.

I run a tr0ll RDA with a dual 26g coil reading at .4 ohms. I've closed the airflow off almost all the way and still get a muted flavor. Any suggestions for builds, whether I should run a single coil, or different wicking techniques. This is my first RDA and don't know if my coil building and wicking skills are yet up to par

use steam engine

26 gauge needs 5 amps.

if you are using 4 volts... that's 1 ohm per coil... that should work,.

If it is your first rda, then yes, I think you should try single coil first; muted flavour sounds like too much juice compounded by anxiety.

If my numbers are wrong I'd seriously like to know, but that setup ought to work I think; what is your voltage and what are your batteries?

Current might be a more intuitive way of thinking about it.

The build looks fine. From what I can tell, the Troll is much like any other cloud chasing oriented RDA. You'll get flavor, but not knock you down type flavor. You need WAY more restricted airflow - something around a 1.5mm - 2.0mm wide hole for each side. You can test that by taping the slots on the outside of the RDA so you're only using one of the three diagonal slots, then perhaps going a step further and taping that slot horizontally so you're only using 1/3 of that open slot.

I have a Mutation X V3 which is very similar. I found that I get the best performance when I angle my coils so they line up with the design of the AFC. When you do a horizontal build with this type of AF, you end up with air coming into the atty that isn't really hitting on or around your coil, so all it's really doing is adding air to your vape and killing the flavor.
I run it in single coil mode with a twisted parallel build. Having one side of those air holes/slots really does concentrate the flavor IMO and using a twisted and/or parallel coil gives you a vape comparable to a dual coil build. I also close the AF off on the coil side about half way, when I put the top cap on I make sure to line my coil up with the slots/holes that I plan to have open so that the air coming in is going directly to the coil.

For better flavor every time I make dual parallel coils for my RDAs. They are as easy to make as a micro. If you go to YouTube, Twisted Messes has a vid called "How I make my Parallel Coils". I use two wires of 26 ga Kanthel, 5 wraps on a 2.4 precision screwdriver. Comes out around .13 ohms and the flavor really does improve over a standard micro. Good luck

I used to have a Tr0ll and got great flavor from it. First of all, yeah, you need to practice building and wrap closer and neater to get consistent heating. And second you have way too much wick. You have to make sure air can go under your coil and up. I remember how I built my Tr0ll. 24 gauge 5 or 6 wraps 2.4mm ID coils high enough so that they were in the middle of the air slits so air could pass under them and cotton cut so the ends just touch the deck. Like an arch. I'll try to find an old pic.

OK I could only find a top down view but you can see hopefully that the cotton just goes straight down. Not all tucked under suffocating your coils like in your pics. I got great flavor from that atty, even with the chuff top.
