Hi i have recently made the decision to go from smoking my beloved Newport shorts to trying out a E-Cig. So i went out to nearest 7-Eleven and bought an njoy NPRO, knowing it may not be that great of a brand, to see if its something i can see myself doing. So now that i have tried it out for a couple of days now i am ready to move on to something a little more substantial.

Anyways the point of this is probably one of the most common questions asked here but here it goes again. Which E Cig should i try out? Looking for best match for a pack a day Newport smoker trying to find the right e cig without all the fake advertisements being hidden in "Real customer testimony". I smoke on breaks at work anytime im driving or any real downtime. Dont really care if it looks like an analog cigarette, just looking for a good battery life and a nice Newport like menthol flavor with good throat hit and alot of vapor. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated and thanks in advance for any advice.

I am in no position to recommend anything (being new to the scene myself) However, My suggestion would be to browse over the forums.. Nobody can tell you whats going to suit YOU best, other than yourself. Its all about personal preference. You will need to take into account several factors in making your decision... I could tell you that you need to go with an Ego, doesn't mean that's gonna fit your needs... You have several choices... Just have to find what fits your lifestyle... Good luck, wish I could be more help

Get a KR808D-1 Starter Kit and Menthol flavor packs of prefilled cartomizers. I got mine at myvaporstore.com but you can get 'em a TONS of places online. Just look around the 'net to see the price you're willing to pay. After you get your basic starter pack, then you can start getting other things - PCC, passthrough, other juices, cartomizers, batteries, etc.

For the money I suggest a KGO from BreezeSmokes or Hoosierecigsupply at $40 and $45 respectively. It's an Ego clone with more power and 1100mAh rating. It has higher voltage for a more satisfying experience and the batteries last and last. What comes in all stater kits to vape with is pretty weak (atomizer and cartridges). Would suggest some boge low resistance (LR) or smoke tech LR dual coil cartos. It is an atomizer and cart in one. Look for sales on these.

For a mod-like experience the LR 306 atomizer with a drip tip on the KGO rivals the very expensive mods in performance. The LR 306 would be in place of cartomizers. Dripping is the purest form of vaping IMO without juice running through filler material. But cartomizers are easier to use. Fill and go, topping off only occasionally. Whatever you get, have fun and enjoy it. Vaping is not as tricky as some threads you read seem. Get a good product and enjoy. There are a lot of good ones available.

Take my recommendation with a grain of salt.

Ex newport 100 smoker. I recommend getting an ego. Either the 650 or larger battery. You will get tired of recharging little 510 batteries very quickly. I also recommend getting the ego mega dual coil cartomizer from madvapes.com they are very cheap and last for a while. This is my recommendation after 6 months of vaping. I tried the 510, Ego-T, and just got tired of battery charging and fiddling with stuff to make it work. The cartomizers I recommend are simply fill and vape. You don't even need anything extra, just pull of mouthpiece, drip in juice, and then vape. I wish this was out when I first started.

Note: I usually don't recommend specific hardware that's new, but I tried these because they were super cheap. Glad I did.

Juice: oh that's a totally different animal. There's tons of places, it's mostly a trial and error thing. Look at the PIF section and you may also want to buy juice from other people here. You can look at the juice review section.

PS. Once you start full time vaping, there is nothing worse than running out of juice!!

We don't buy at those ripoff rebranders you are talking about with the fake reviews and lies

Notes: Most people here use and recommend manual battery ecigs - easier to get a good hit and and less likely to be damaged or killed by juice leaks. Most people here refill or fill their own cartomizers/carts/tanks/whatever and buy their juice wherever they like (different methods of vaping may determine appropriate thickness juices to buy - some methods like thinner high-PG base juices)

The most popular threadings are 510 and KR808D-1

100mah is about 1 hour of moderate vaping

See these at Cignot.com, LiteCigUSA.net, Liberty-Flights.com and elsewhere
Joye 510 manual - a 2 piece with lots of blank cartos available 180mah
Joye 510 xl manual batteries for Joye 510 - 280mah
These are 3-pieces but I recommend using them as 2-piece with blank Boge 510 standard resistance cartomizers for all thin juices you like (and use the 3-piece setup to test juices - if you get the manual you can use a drip tip with the atomizer)

KR808D-1 manual (LiteCigUSA.net, and fancier at Vapor4Life.com or SMokeless Image's Volt) 180mah or more popular 280mah (this is a 2-piece, so for testing juices try a DSE901 atomizer and you can use a drip tip since you got manual batteries)

If you want longer battery life and the ability to get the hotter hits with LR low resistance atomizers and cartomizers, then skip slim minis - go to Liberty-Flights.com (press the 20% off first) and look at Joye Ego and Riva 510. These are 650mah and up, with the largest batteries around 1300mah.

Then you will have seen all of the manual models most used and loved on this forum

I own most of those because after my first mistake of a weak limited ecig, I instead bought what was most popular and most recommended on ECF - quite happy with what I have.

I recommend this to "newbies" AND experienced vapers:
Add some juice and maybe a driptip, and for around $50 (still less than the cost of a carton of smokes) you are good to go for a month or longer. The new eGo-T with USB passthru allows you to keep it constantly charging without needing a special charger, and its ready to unplug and go all day with a 1000mAH battery that keeps up with the low resistance/dualcoil cartomizers. You can turn it off/on by hitting the button 5 times, so it is relatively pocket safe, and I personally really like the rubberized coating makes it very comfortable to hold and easy to use.

I second what "Boodle" recommended. A KGO 1100 starter kit from HoosierDaddy? (Hoosiercigsupply) and some Boge 2.0LRs or some Dual coil cartomizers he has. Once I bought 1 kit from him I had to have more and now have 3 kits. Those KGOs give an awesome hit and the batts last forever. The chrome ones are pretty neat looking too. After a bit you get the chrome echo-e cartomizers for the KGO and now you're really talking some quality vape. Good luck with your decision.

+1 to Thulium's suggestion. As for a strong menthol liquid, I'd recommend starting with an 18-24mg. My favorite strong ice menthol is www.liquidxpress cool rush , for a tobacco menthol I'd recommend silver leaf tobacco menthol or silver leaf menthol from puresmoker I believe. That's a good start with equipment and liquid. I'd get 15ml of a couple and try them out. Also the Volt from www.smokelessimage.com is easy to use and you can refill the cartomizers several times. It's an 808 and I use it when I'm out. I recommend 78mm manual batts.

I would love to have a passthrough. Will this work on a KGO or it works by itself? I bought a crappy $15 PT and 2amp wall connection for it. It was supposed to be 5v. It never worked. I'm a PT noob. Sure would be nice to vape at my desk without batteries. Thanks, in advance.

Menthol crystals in PG flavoring is a great way to control menthol sensation strength.
Different people like different menthol strengths.
Can DIY or buy premixed (flavor west menthol in PG flavoring for example).
To make just mix unflavored juice w/ the menthol in PG flavoring.

Dual coil carto is hard to beat. High quality vapor. Requires a pretty strong PV though. Roughstack will handle dual coil nicely.
Roughstack w/ dual coil at 3.7 volts produces nice throat hit at 6mg and firm TH at 12mg.

I recommend picking a mod that will handle dual coil carto.

It wprks by itself this is the site description Simply disconnect from the included USB cord and you have a 1000mAh eGo battery at your disposal. Add our USB port car adapter to make this unit a very versatile device

I can only say, I love my eGo. It may not be what others like or want, but for me, it's awesome. (2 regular eGo kits, 650 batteries, 1 eGo passthrough, 1000 battery.) Juice you can get in SO many places and so many flavors, it's really insane. Try all sorts of juices; there are several vendors that do sample packs for a really good price.

As long as the battery has at least 1/4 charge, you can continue to vape with this while it is plugged in and charging via the mini-USB port on the bottom. So this is not JUST a passthru, its also a 1000mAH eGo-T battery so it will keep up with standard and low resistance 510 or 306 atomizers, cartomizers, or Ego-T "tankomizers"...I'm just currently loving the dualcoils. It might still be a good idea to get an eGo starter kit for extra batteries and a "real" charger, but by charging through USB you don't really need anything else.

Funny..I'm opposite.
I vaped on PT for a couple years but put PT away once I got a big batt mod.
PT feels like ball and chain to me.
