Ok lemme see if I understand this correctly.

Glycerin.. thick needs to be thinned to 80/20 or 70/30.. Is this then called the glycerin to be used when making a PG/VG base? In other words do I mix (thin) the glycerine first then mix it again with the pg to make a base? Or is it mixed thick with the pg?

Bangs head on keyboard!

Um, maybe? VG is thick. PG is thin. Unless you are making a very heavy VG base, then there is little reason to thin the mix. I go up to 70/30 PG/VG without thinning. If I go over that, then I would thin, but it takes only a few percent of distilled water or PGA to thin the juice down so it flows out of a dripper well.

Since I do not mix over 30%VG except in rare circumstances, I do not have an expert handle on thinning. I just thin until it seems right.

Here is a good calculator that stays on line
eJuice Recipe Calculator

I hate math..... ha. I always use the calculator. ScubaDan has a good one, but you need to download it and have Excel to run it. FilesAnywhere - FileShare Detail View

EDIT - And, you'll want to cut the nic liquid with either VG or PG I'd think. Better to do the mix on the calculator with your flavoring percentage and take in account VG and some water or PGA to thin the VG if you use that.

I use Dan's calculator exclusively and I've entered the info there and have the amounts it would make, ect.

It's that I don't know exactly what to use to cut that much nic at that strength with. If I cut it with VG I don't know how that would affect the calc's calculations. That and I don't know how to compensate for it in the calc.

In section 3 of Dan's calc it has Amount of PG/VG needed so it looks like he uses those two to cut with.

:)

You can cut with either. If you cut with both, just make sure the total quantity is the same. So if it says to add Z PG/VG you can cut with Z PG or Z VG or X VG + Y PG as long as X+Y=Z.
