Cyber bullying is real, it's dangerous, and it's not just limited to kids. This is a prime example of it. This is definitely a sad event, in many....many ways that most won't ever even realize. Wow!

That's exactly what I was just thinking, this is an example of cyber bullying. I don't know all of the details of what went down, I'm pretty much going by the context here. Sounds like a bunch of dbags and a mob mentality.

"It's sad but I think this kind of behaviour is expected"

Since when, did we as a human society have to start "expecting" this behavior?

No, that is the crux of the problem, it should NEVER be "expected". People & society need to clean up their act, begin practicing some manners and act with civil behavior. Starting Today. Shun those that do not.

exactly, becuase they wouldnt say that to her face thats for sure, and why, becuase thats not how you behave, but these losers are behind a screen and its become easy for them to do whatever they like and not have to wrry

then we wonder why a internet ID is coming, and when that does and puts a name and info of said person thats hould quiet these losers up.

if youtube was like facebook where you had to use real info, they wouldnt dare pull half the crap they do now and i think soon that will become a reality

I confess that I was one of the people that jumped to the conclusion that she was attacking Phil. I've a bad habit of doing that sometimes. I was NOT one of the ones sending hate mail though. I gave my apology to her yesterday via the Phoenix thread, but after seeing all this happen, I truly wish I had not even mentioned anything about her comment in the video.

This lady was a great asset to the vaping community. I hope that the haters that sent her over the edge realize that if every reviewer were to shut down over stuff like this, the ONLY info we would have is just what we read on the vendor's site. When making a purchase, people NEED to watch EVERY review, and form your own opinion, whether you agree with the reviewer or not. And IF you don't agree with them, DON'T troll them like people did to Steeljan. Now the WHOLE Vaping community has to suffer because of a bunch of idiots that probably still live in their mothers basement or garage, and need to get a life.

no one should have to learn anything
you shouldnt have to worry about these things and .......s like them

you should be able to make a video and not be attacked by losers, the problem is certain people, not us wanting to make videos

the same people that attacked her are the same ones that go around bashing new products, talking crap to other vapers and generally stirring issues, at least now people know who they are and what they are all about, we deal with them on YouTube we deal with them trolling on ecf and enough is enough

I have no idea who they are or wtf happened but ....... people need to grow the F up!

Even before this thread started, I wrote up a letter to convey my sincere apologies to her.. but ended up clicking 'cancel' button.. after long hours of thinking that "better not stir the water again".
It was not about who's technically right, but was about my sincere apology that I was not able to see her passion in vaping.
I did not post any other place but here in gotvapes. now .. I am depressed.
She may not be a debater like me.. I just hope that she recovers over the time and comes back to us.
I am still a subscriber to her channel.

Looking at several videos offering support for steeljan, I was surprised how many were namecalling the namecallers, and profanely, too. I also stumbled across a reply by pbusardo to a possible criticism that may be the original issue in question, and his video was very professional and simply addressed the facts in possible question. I sadly have not had a chance to view many steeljan videos, but I really enjoyed and appreciated the few I did get to see. Judging from her friend's goodbye on her behalf, though, things have been getting bad for a while and this episode was just the final straw. I regret that I can no longer go see what steeljan, for one, may have to say about an issue now. I surely hope she comes back soon, and that she hears, now, from the quiet ones how much we value her and that gives her the strength to ignore those who do not deserve her valuable time and attention. Thanks again to steeljan for taking the time to share your knowledge and opinions, I found you very valuable in my searxh, though I did not bother to say so at the time.

1. If you are on the internet and expose yourself in opinions, factual debates, or any form of communication, you have an almost 100% likelihood that someone, somewhere, will disagree with you to the extent of attempting to extreme "cyber-bullying".
2. If you are willing to expose yourself in opinions, factual debates, or any form of communication, it is absolutely essential for you to understand and prepare yourself emotionally for this all but certain risk. In order to prepare:
A. Preempt criticism. If you know you are going to have people that disagree with you, state, with your argument. the counter-argument for their counter-argument.
B. Acknowledge that you will be attacked in a manner that will have the propensity to hurt you emotionally, and therefore assume an air of tolerance for these attacks. Essentially, remove yourself from your situation in such a way that you have a shield against the attacks.
C. Recognize that the "haters"/"trolls" will go above and beyond any natural reaction in disagreement to an absurd extreme. From "I disagree" to "You're a waste of flesh". Therefore, learn the language of hate and understand the actual minimization.
D. Block/Ignore any communication. If comments become distasteful--block comments on videos, post and leave, take a minor breather. The direct purpose of hate and "trolling" is in order to make you, what has become to be called, "rage quit" and/or spiral out of control to the point where you make yourself all the more ridiculous. The best defense of trolling is to ignore that it exists.

Older individuals and young/emotionally insecure people are at the greatest risk for the full force of the excessive negativity. Haters/Trolling is, sadly, absolutely inherent in the modern status of the internet. Anonymity and emotionally/intellectually inept individuals are the growing populace.

Don't rage quit.
Don't spiral out of control and make yourself all the more a target of ridicule.
Don't let the abundance of negativity ruin your emotional security.
Ignore. Shield yourself.
If all else fails--> Troll the trollers.

I hope that steeljan will return. I admit that I had never heard or watched any other video of hers other than her Phoenix review, and it was absolutely one of the best reviews I've seen.

I viewed his video before steeljan's and I knew as soon as I saw it he was trying to put down someone else's views. I found his demeanor to be unprofessional and the fact that there was such an urgency to post his video that led me to believe it was nothing more than a rant. He could have very easily provided educational information without the dramatics. His video in my opinion brought no value to the community.

I'm a subscriber to Steel Jan's videos and heard about her resignation yesterday as a goodbye video done by her neighbor was sent to me via Jan's subscription service. Maybe I'd be well off to just let things be, but I can't help being a little curious about what so bad happened to Jan that she succumbed to the pressure to remove and silence herself from this community.

It appears that she has removed all her YouTube ecig related videos and also, all other videos posted here or on YouTube that would inform us as to the cause of all this fallout have also been deleted. Does anyone here have the real story, or should we just let things be? I'd really like to know the truth of the matter, because right now it looks like some bad guys have won a pretty big victory.
