So, for reasons I don't really want to get all into, I've been displaced from my house for a couple of weeks. The reason it's relevant though is that I've been charging two 18350 batteries every night, then in the morning I'll put one of them in my Vamo and just carry the other around in my pocket for when the first one dies. It's the same pocket I keep my keys in. So, just now, I'm reaching over a bed to get something from behind when all of the sudden I feel something hot in my pocket. I quickly pull out the battery and it's super hot to the touch, and my keys are hot. I guess the keys completed the circuit? I guess I didn't even think that could happen.

You really do need something a little more impenetrable than a plastic baggie. Just like without a case, you might not notice the baggie has a hole in it until it is too late.

A single battery plastic case is not that much larger than the battery itself, btw. Just have to look around for a case that would work for you.

Well, that is to say, it wasn't expected by me, perhaps stupidly. I don't really want to carry around a big ol' case though. I guess I'll have to find a better solution. A plastic baggy would work as well, I reckon? Luckily, our home displacement appears to be coming to a speedy end.
No, not at all, if this is too big to carry around: 18350 Battery Case - Battery Cases - Accessories then maybe you should get an eGo.

For carrying just 1 18350, one of the thingy's(that is what they are called) sold by ibtanked to hold their 19mm standard size tanks fits an 18350 battery very well. The case is a little longer, so if you don't want to hear any rattle in your pocket, a little cotton stuffed into the case solves that.

I would imagine any tube type bottle like a pill bottle would work as well. I know they also sell single 18350 battery case holders(typically sold as cr123 battery holders) thru many lighting supply stores.
