Just a simple visit for script refills. I'm in very good health for my age and only take one medication. So I'm getting close to 1 month of being tobacco free. After 49 years of chain smoking I will say I noticed breathing improvements within days! Anyway I'm smug and proud sitting there on the exam table. She listens to my lungs and says they sound very good, very clear. Asks if I'm still smoking? I happily say I'm tobacco free. She asks if I'm using the methods offer by Smoke Free Florida. Nope I said I'm using an e-cigarette method. Well... the stuff hit the fan! You CAN"T do that, she says! Followed by... DO NOT use that!

I'm surprised, even a bit shocked. This is not what I was expecting. She waves some pamphlets in my face and wants me to take them. I've read them before. Nothing in them works. I refuse and ask her why I shouldn't use this method. She says... It's not FDA approved! You CAN"T use it. I say...So you're telling me several packs of cigarettes a day is better? You're recommending that I go back to smoking tobacco? She waves the pamphlets at me again... I took them and threw them on the floor. Stood up (thankful that I wasn't undressed) and headed for the door. There ensued a very heated exchange up the clinic hallway. Good grief! It's a bit funny looking back at it! My adult children would just cringe! lol

To make a long story short she explained that these are the guidelines that she's required to follow and has very little choice in what she can say. I explained that she needs to rethink the way she words things. Finally she did admit that I had made a very smart choice for myself. I admitted that I wasn't aware that her profession could be a risk. It was okay and I'll still go to her. After all now she knows where I stand. lol

No one is going to convince me that tobacco is safer than vaping. Plus I like, enjoy and will vape regardless. After all I smoked for 49 years with all the attached issues involved in doing that and no one could stop me. If you get this reaction from a health care provider try not to be intimidated into to returning to tobacco. The only exception in my mind is if you are suffering from health issues that could be directly related. Do at least ask for well explained researched explanations as to why this would affect you negatively. And try not to make a big spectacle of yourself down a clinic hallway! Lmao!

From http://durkpearson.com/:

Durk Pearson and Sandy Shaw are two of the most valuable assets that the United States has in that they have been fighting the unjust powers with which the FDA has infringed the First Amendment of the Constitution.

Most government institutions do not represent the interests of the general population. They most often are beholden to the powerful special interests. They sell their services and laws to the highest bidders at the expense of "We the People"

The FDA is not an exception to this general corrupt practices.

I took a lung function test after vaping for a bit over 2 years. I'd smoked PAD Camel straights (non-filters) for 25 yr, and PAD Marlboro reds another 10+ years. My GP was certain I'd show some signs of lung impairment -- I tested above average in all areas, much higher than the norm in many. The couple years off cigs had been a really nice improvement :)

My Dr. is happy that I quit, understands that I still vape, admit enjoying the nicotine (though I've decreased nic level, and also cut coffee since I can vape in situations I previously couldn't smoke -- trade of stimulants).

My Doc was interested and took some business cards I had from some of my favorite vendors. My therapists is also very interested and said she may suggest vaping to some of her clients that are trying to quit smoking.

I have spoken to a few people - not doctors - that have only even heard of the gas station disposable ecigs and think they are "scetchy" when it comes to safety. One woman I spoke with just this morning said she tried one and it gave her a headache so there must be something wrong or unsafe about it. I don't know if she was convinced, but I did explain to her that they are very dehydrating and she could be having a reaction to the pg and should try vg. Then she seemed to lose all interest when I told her the best equipment and liquids can be ordered online.

Ah well. Eventually the word will get out.

My only experience with a doctor happened several months ago. She asked if I smoked and I said yes and then quickly corrected myself by say actually no, I stopped smoking a while back but use an electronic cigarette. All she said was ok, but you should really consider stopping smoking. I thought about pointing out I had already done that and now I vape but I just let it be. At least she didn't explain "oh no! Those could blow up in your face!)
