I'm fully aware of the rush, for that new mod, but I'll give a little insight as to how the process works as the years go by. We all get extemely amped about what would be the "End All, Perfect mod", such is usually not the case. There is a reason, tons and tons of these great mods get put up on the classified sections all the time: they don't turn out to be the "End All" mod. I can probably think of about 30 mods I have purchased that were extremely difficult to get, and I sat here on ECF day after day refreshing threads and subscribing. I've sat on websites hitting refresh while at work every 5 minutes while my productivity goes down the toilet. I've emailed vendors and offered to pay double a mods price just so I don't have to run the gamut on something. After waiting months on a pre-order (worried I got scammed), all this work PMing vendors and watching threads, trying to work trades with owners, and spamming refresh button; were do you think almost all of these mods are now?

But a VERY small fraction of the mods I have purchased, and most all have been sold off, some even thrown in the trash because they were seriously over-hyped by some fanboy with nothing to compare a new mod too, remain in my collection. There is always something new coming out, something that will make your previous favorite obsolete, or you have to stack adapters on it and it looks lame. Something that your previous favorite cartos or tank or RBA won't fit on.

Trick is, if you want to watch anything, watch the classified section. The greatest thing about ECF for me is those classys. But try not to get bent out of wack over something that just looks too be perfect: there are flaws to them all. I can't count the times I've been screwed over by a super hyped pre-order, or fanboys. The great mods? They don't die, there might be small improvements to them, but they don't die and they don't forever fall into the unobtanium category. While your waiting on the classys, do some honest research, look at who is posting and what experience they have with vaping that might be similar to yours. Use ECF to make informed decisions or just buy and sell mods all day long like me 8)

Here here Stownz :toast:

Great advise..
I personally am not looking for a "collection" bur more of a defining piece...I fully realize that I will be a vapor for the rest of my life and i embrace it.
So now to commemorate my new reality a signature devise seems appropriate.
Hear in lies the enigma....its the proverbial "rites of passage" that i refuse to embark on...seems like ransom to me to have to spend double the retail price on a mod that some person was able to procure because he was able to spend every waking hour hitting refresh buttons...just to purchase his limit and then make me a sucker...

I am someones customer...i have money.

And like you said its a time thing

You folks who are JUST into vaping have it easy. try being into vaping AND guns.

Into both as well. Unfortunately, I'm having to get into reloading since there is no ammo to be found around here.

Much easier to reload ammo for a .455 Webley than find factory loads anywhere anyway.

Pretty much screwed on my 10/22 since you can't reload rimfire ammo, but luckily I bought a couple 500 round bricks last fall before everyone lost their mind and just starting buying everything up.

Thankfully I have a friend who owns a gun range, ammo prices are nuts right now.

Yeah, pretty much anything gun related is sold out around here.

I went to the Cabela's in Fort Worth a few weeks ago and the only ammo in stock was shotgun shells, some oddball 7.62 pistol ammo and literally 4 10 packs of .22 shot shells.

No powder, no primers and the only brass in stock was for .45/70.

I think the strangest thing I saw was the stack of black powder pistols they had on an endcap though. They usually keep those behind the counter, even here in gun crazy Texas.

Agreed, ammo is just about un-obtainable at this point, but I got lucky. I reload also- I shot competitively for a few years, so I still have a progressive reloader (Dillon) about 20K unloaded cases, bullets, primers, and lots of powder left.

My Father-in-law also passed away last year, and he collected 22 rifles & pistols. When we brought my Mother-in-law down here and went to sell their house, 1/4 of his garage was filled with 22 ammo. I filled the bed of my truck up TWICE, and still had to go back and grab the last of it. Even after selling off about half of it(before the current foolishness), I'm still in pretty good shape. :p

I actually was going to build my own, then I ran into a too good to pass up deal on a Dan Wesson. I'll still probably build one eventually.

the poldiac looks a very nice device too mate and is readily available, only i think its made to work with rba`s. it has no grooves cut out for airflo when carto tanks and the like are fixed on top. only for this i`d drop the 150euros on it for sure

There are tank airflow controllers that fix this for like 5 bucks. Or you just adjust the center pin up to leave an almost imperceptible gap (I did this with my temon) instead.

wow really. ... thats interesting as i do really love the look of that poldiac, in my eyes its up there as one of the classiest looking devices around, biuld quality is top notch too. i will have to look these airflow controllers up i`v never seen one. think i`d prefer this than a gap, but as you say if its really small i could probably live with he slight gap. cheers mate i gonna look these airflow controllersup rggt now )

Honestly, this chase for out of stock high end mods cracks me up. SuperT has PVs that match or exceed the quality of anything out there and they are readily available for a decent price. I've been doing this a long time now and know how this game works. What's hot today will most likely be at the bottom of your extras box in a year or two. In fact, the only mods from back in the day that are still going strong are the Reo, GG, and Silver Bullet.

I have probably close to 2,000 in PVs that are buried under cartos, 510 attys, and other crap I don't use anymore. Off my head I know that I have 2 Phidias, a couple screwdrivers, a couple Puresmoker mods and passthroughs, a sabertouch, ect... I've given many more away to friends if they wanted to get into vaping. During the Super Bowl I had 12 of them running. lol. I guess what I'm getting at is all one really needs is what is readily available right now. Well, besides a quality RBA. A lot of those clones are junk and the decent ones aren't mainstream enough yet, except for the hornet or era it seems.

The problem, and it's a big one, with the Poldiac is its use of silver. All of the work they put into that mod and they overlooked that. Pretty big fail.

Like I said...you can buy Legacy's, Gus's, Roller's, EA's, Themis's and the Curve all right now. You can buy Cobra's pretty much anytime and you can buy a Bliss right now. Zen's are available nearly once a month depending on which model.

You can get make a pretty killer set up without f5'ing.

Yup. In my five years of vaping I have never f5ed. lol. I refuse to play into that game. I wanted a Reo but waited until it was available. I have seen so many f5 items over the years, your head would spin. The majority of them are long gone and no longer supported. Never buy a mod over $100.00 that can't be readily sent in for service and back to you within 2 weeks. This is why items like the Provari, Reo, Silver Bullet, ect.. continue to sell in huge numbers. The support is second to none.
